Like the title says....for all you console players out there:
basically, if the money was given to you to make the ultimate gaming PC would you play or enjoy it more?

Or just get one of the nVidia/ATI 3D glasses thingies. :PI would rather spend 5000 dollars on a Mitsubishi - Diamond 82" / 1080p / 120Hz / 3D DLP HDTV.

I'm sure I could think of better things to do with my 5000$ that would last more than two years :P
I love my console and do some indie PC gaming while I'm at school, so the bulk of my gaming is actually PC currently.
But to be hardcore in the PC gaming universe, it takes a certain kind of person. A person that knows all these things about cards and stuff like the back of his hand or is willing to do detailed research on the matter.
I'm not one of those people, so I play old games and indie games, enjoy them a lot, and have spent arond 50$ on games I'll never be able to play :P
I already have a gaming PC, but hypothetically, I would take the money, spend a third of it, be set for 10 years for PC gaming, and pocket the rest...
Most of you are missing the point. I'm not saying it costs $5K game on a PC, I'm saying $5k so that no one in the console workd would think twice about the answer.
But, I didn't specify what the above poster said.
I'll say it another way:
If someoene told you that they were going to fund your gaming experience no matter the cost....but the only catch was that you could only game on one type...which would it be? Console or PC.
So in other words everything is paid for.
What's the ultimate experience? Will it be ultimate a year from now?Like the title says....for all you console players out there:

Do you ppl even read what ppl post??? It's like talking to a deaf person. THE PRICE IS NOT THE POINT.

Then why mention a price? Why not just say "If you had the ultimate high end PC, would you play it and enjoy it?".
As soon as you stick a price on there, you're suggesting that's the price of the "ultimate" rig. Your own fault, mate.

Yeah, and it doesn't really open a discussion. Of course if everyone had an ultimate rig in their bedroom they would use and enjoy it.
Honestly, the PC-based flight sim setup of my dreams would be around $500k not $5k.
$5k? That might buy two of the 3 1080p TVs I want (Eyefinity). He He.
If we had to spend the entire 5000 on just the PC, I guess yes I would play it among other things. I'd buy a decent size IPS monitor that's hopefully fast enough to not cause any ghosting while playing. Probably i7 980x, why not, got to blow as much as possible, dual 480s, best liquid cooling solution I can find, three or four 2tb hard drives for data and 1tb ssd for a boot drive. Not sure, all of that might actually cost more than $5000.

I would insult you but you would miss the point......not my fault.

Your logic didn't work well here. People would use or want anything if it were free. What you really wanted to ask was would you give up console gaming all together if you were given a high end pc. You would have gotten your answers that way.unless your current car is an absolute piece of crap that wouldnt sound like a wise investment.Gaming on a PC just doesn't appeal to me. Plus if I had that $5000 I'd sell my car and buy a better one

unless your current car is an absolute piece of crap that wouldnt sound like a wise investment. Well he'd probably trade it in and use the 5000 as a down payment, thus lowering his monthly payment. Just sayin...[QUOTE="BPoole96"]
