How do they lack professionalism? They review games based on what they personally think of them, isnt that what every reviewer does? With that logic, EVERY site/magazine should be dropped from Metacritic.

I love Destructoid, their reviews actually tell it straight and they aren't afraid to rate a game low and tell its true flaws, especially Jim Sterling's reviews.
Destructoid reviews feel more like [insert gaming page here] user reviews...especialy Jim Sterling's... damn ACII and FFXIII a 4.0 but dynasty warriors an 8.0? really?.. i mean REALLY?... heck he rated blade kitten higher than those games... and the other staff of destructoid is just as bad throwing 10s all over the place lol , and yes. i agree, they should not be counted for metacritic.

[QUOTE="rawr89"]What's wrong with kevin ? Nothing, he just states his opinion as it is on a game. Exactly like Destructoid, in fact...i wanna drop off Kevin VanOrd off of Meta and GS.

Drop Edge too, not because of the quality of writing, but because it clashes with everyone else scale. Like EVERYONE uses 7.5/10 as average, not 5/10 like Edge.
idc because for everysite that is slappling a 10 on a game there is another one giving it a 7.
that's kinda the whole point of an averaging site.
I support dropping Destructoid, period. And Metacritic, for that matter.PBSnipesI support this post :D Metacritic and Gamerankings, niether of them mean jack s***. They just add up a bunch of reviews and then proceed to vomit up some number that is used as a means to judge a game's "true" quality. I find it amusing when somebody tries bringing up a metacritic score when debating which game is better.
There are many reasons, but the ones stands out most to me is that they will admit several flaws of a game and then slap a 10 on it as if they are not taking their job particularly seriously.

If you're referring to the Deadly Premonition review, then...I personally don't have any problem with it. Despite its flaws (or possibly because of them), the game is genuinely brilliant, and one of the most entertaining things I've played in a long time.
I can't really speak for their other 10s though - I don't remember what else scored that highly.
Anyway, what makes them any less professional or fanboyish than the Official Sony/Xbox/Nintendo magazines, or the review sites that either never list any negative points about the big-name games? If you drop Destructoid, you'd have to drop a hell of a lot of other sites, too.
And personally, I'm starting to really like their reviews. Lately I've been reading theirs more than anyone else's - they're honest and funny, what's not to like?
Personally I would much prefer to see the System Specific sites dropped, as they usually overscore games on the platform they support which in turn skews the results in GR and MC.
Sites like OXM, or OPM which seem to hand out 9's and 10's like they are going out of fashion purely because a game is exclusive on their platform of choice. Not only that, they are unlikely to review games from another platform, so you dont have the "harsher" review of the opposition to counter the overly kind review of their own platforms.
So what would have been a 80+ score on MC or GR for exclusive games gets an artificial boost into the 90+ range. (not that the scores are anywhere as important as a well written unbiased review)

1. Meta scores are inherently flawed and must be viewed with a grain of salt. If you cannot get past this, then your perspective is marred.
2. So you should exclude websites that are 'unprofessional'. Well then why don't we just block out GS after Gertsmann Gate? Destructoid actually have that ruining its integrity.
3. Reviews are not product evaluations, if you disagree with their opinion, then maybe you should look for another source than complaining about a meta score?
[QUOTE="babyeatermax"]How are their reviews less professional than other sites? If Destructoid goes so should everyone else.GreySeal9

So they rate game based off of how much they enjoy them. That's how it should be imo. Please Log In to post.
