http://ds.ign.com/articles/109/1098713p1.html

Direct Quote from IGN

The graphics look on par with (or even better than) the PlayStation 2 version of Snake Eater – developers told us prior to the debut of the 3DS that the hardware is well beyond Wii and approaching 360/PS3 capabilities with what the system can do, and when you see this demo in action you can see why they would have said that.

PSP is obsoulte?

No. As much as I love Metal Gear, one game will not be enugh to convince me to buy a 3DS. Ninetndo has a track record of ignoreing games focused on a older audience, and while I don't mind playing a game targeted for all ages, one Metal Gear game isn't going to cut it.

No, I was sold on the whole entire Library. OOT, SF 64 being remade for the 3DS (apparently they both are more than just a port), Paper Mario, Animal Crossing, Kingdom Hearts and plenty more scream out.

I agree with that Wii arguement. The 3DS is a whole new beast. This maybe the first handheld I actually want

It's not a confirmed game, though. Just a tech demo. Kojima's MGS game may not a MGS3 remake for all we know.

Actually a MGS 3 port/remake has indeed been confirmed. What was shown at E3 was just a concept demo he has for the game, it still has work that needs to be done on it. Hence the "Naked Sample" subtitle of the demo.

Well, that certainly is what you got out of what was said for ya. I understood that Kojima was still mulling over weather or not to continue work on it for fears of peoples eyes starting to hurt.

Didn't miss the press conference at all. Metal Gear and Resident Evil have been done on Gamecube before, and it's still considered a console targeted for a younger audience. A few games near release won't mean anything if Nintendo doesn't stick with creating games for ALL ages (no, not rated E games, E-M).

Yeah, definitely day one, and depending on what games are out on day one, I'll probably only buy the remakes/ports. Hell, I don't even know what original games are actually coming out for it.

If you mean they don't create many M/18 rated titles, then you're right. But the 3rd party support looks positive, so it doesn't look like you'll have to worry about a game not being "Mature". And if that's what it has come down to when selecting whether to buy a console, then I pity you.

So, you pity me because I look for a variety of target audiences in a console...? Strange, that seems like a natural thing gamers would WANT in a console. It's like I said earlier, I love some rated E games as much as the next person, but playing nothing but kid friendly games is something to pity on, not variety.

A game's rating can drastically change what type of game you're looking for. A rated E survival horror game probably wouldn't be that great (although I guess it's possible), and if you are looking for a real gritty action game, I doubt you'll get it with an E rating.

Yes, the rating a game get's doesn't equal out to how good the game is, but some genre's are more or less stuck within a certain rating, based on what the player is looking for. Believe it or not, some gamers don't like the cartoony theme of most Nintendo brand titles. It's called an opinion.

Yes, even. I do not enjoy gaming on handhelds. Although I would take a DS over a PSP any day of the week, if I had to choose.

I'm excited for the 3DS, but I'll wait until the second, superior iteration of 3DS (a la DS Lite). I'll be more excited if they announce the next Ace Attorney/Professor Leyton.

Approaching PS3/360? I'm going to assume XBox at best. Also I've got a PS2 and MGS3. I'm not a fan of hand helds so no that doesn't sell me.

Not particulary. MGS3 is my favorite game of the series, and is in my top 5 games of last gen. BUT... I already played it. >_> A new MGS game, designed for the 3DS (something like MGS Ghost Babel, not Peace Walker) would have got me sold. Anyways, I'm still getting a 3DS, just not for MGS3.

[QUOTE="xYamatox"][QUOTE="Mckenna1845"] saints row, resident evil? nintendo themselves don't tend to do adult only games, but 3rd parties i'm sure will, especially after the success of the ds.King_Dodongo
It's true Saint's Row and Resident Evil are targeted for older audiences, but it's still just 3 games when included with Metal Gear. I never said the 3DS would have nothing but rated E games, but we'd be lying to ourselves if 90% of the 3DS' quality games won't be Mario, Zelda, Kid Icuras, Nintendogs, and Pokemon. Not to mention, Resident Evil hasn't been up to par as of late. I'll probably get a 3DS as time passes by, but in my personal opinion, there isn't much going for it that I would like.

It will have Splinter cell, Dead or alive and SSF4 also . Sorry for my quoting mistake lol.

Its also going to get Assasins Creed: Lost Legacy.

Answer to topic title: No, I already have MGS3. In fact a lot of the games announced are just ports with 3d. The only game that I've seen anything about that isn't is Kid Icarus, a sequel to a 23 year old game that wasn't all that special. I really don't know why people are going nuts over that one.

No. As much as I love Metal Gear, one game will not be enugh to convince me to buy a 3DS. Ninetndo has a track record of ignoreing games focused on a older audience, and while I don't mind playing a game targeted for all ages, one Metal Gear game isn't going to cut it.

It's depressing to me because I own a Wii, where as I'm not a fan of handhelds and in my eyes a handheld should never be able to produce better looking games than a console :/ It's just the thought is depressing.W1NGMAN

I understand your feelings, but try to look at it this way: If their new handheld is going to pack this much of a punch, what will the next console be like?

I'm actually excited for the 3DS. Hopefully it's not full of empty promises.

Welcome to the age of misinformation. Developers NEVER said that 3DS hardware is beyond wii and close to ps3/x360.
