Are there gamers who are actually unable to use their 3rd party wireless adapters after the dashboard update?
[QUOTE="Hanass"]
yea MS wont even cover your RROD fixing costs if they find out you used the cooling system or any other 3rd party accesory for that matter.
Which pisses me off because my power supply just went bad and now I can either get an Elite(I need the HDD space anyway, and the black is sexy, but it's $300) or buy a third-party power brick(which voids my warranty and I don't trust after-market products, but it won't cost me $300). The worst part, I just got about $250 for my birthday that I was going to use on Darksiders, Dante's inferno, and Heavy Rain, but now I might have to use on a new 360.
Craigslist and Ebay are your friend Yeah i mean no offense but buying an entirely new console because your power supply is broken is kind of stupidThe only gripe I have with MS is with the Hard Drive.TheTrystero024This. I saw one in a retail store today for $150AU (things are generally more expensive down here, btw.) It was 60GB. I could (at least) get a 500GB PC HD for that price (probably more.) Really, the adaptations to put it in the 360 can't carry that much of a premium :|

dont lie please, you were told 3rd party memory options were blocked not wireless ethernet bridges, if what you say is true then all 3rd party controllers and the like no longer work. The only thing blocked was 3rd party memory. controllers, ethernet bridges...ect still work hell the xbox live support page has a list of officially compatiable ethernet bridges.

would that work with the 360?
Theoretically it would, just like a non-proprietary HDD, but you know MS.
Yea, wernt like 1 MILLION people baned for altering their Xbox 360!!http://www.gamespot.com/news/6130691.html
ANY work around, or alteration will get people BANNED!!! http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/2009/nov/11/xbox-modded-consoles-live-cut-microsoft
MS wants your MONEY NOW!!!http://www.cinemablend.com/games/Report-Microsoft-To-Make-Huge-Profit-With-Xbox-Live-2414.html even though they make money from live. http://www.microsoft.com/msft/IC/segments_edd.aspx?tab=Performance
BUT hey Xbox fans love to give MS money.. DON'T hate!! They like that warm feeling MS gives them. Its explosive. :o
[QUOTE="Kennysolidsnake"][QUOTE="Renegade_Fury"]I already have the first one that came out and it only costs $59.99, this one now costs $99.99.. So in other words, they discontinue the cheaper one.. Release one that costs $40.00 and on top of that make the 360 console not compatible with any other options for wireless.. Just crazy Then why are you complaining? It's not like moaning on a forum is going to do anything constructive other than bring out the fanboys. If it's too expensive, people won't buy it. It's as simple as that.Cool, then don't buy it.
Renegade_Fury
I agree its def. Not going to get Microsoft to drop the price lol But still it is pretty Ridicoulous especially if your a kid like me haaha I dont have a job or anything so I cant get everything i want so 100 for a wireless adapter is crazy
It's a good thing the PS3's wireless is FREE.
EDIT: Haha, oh wow. Some of you guys are getting pretty defensive for something's not that big of a deal.

what game is your AVatar from?

is that why Your PS3 says Suckish in dust?
The topic has been beatin to death resuscitated and then beat to death again.
Do i like the fact that the accessories are as high as they are? NO
Do i like the fact that the amount of content that is available on xbox live is to much for the 120 or the 250 for that matter to handle? NO
Do i think they should let me do what sony does and have access to put my own hard drive on there? YES
But this is the reality and if you game on the xbox 360 you should know what you getting yourself into
[QUOTE="stereointegrity"]WOW ur 4 years late....really kenny?KennysolidsnakeHow so? the first wireless adapter only costs $59.99 which is somewhat reasonable, the new wireless adapter came out what.. 4 months ago? The first one was $99.99 before the new one released.
Ok seriously, whats with MS charging so much for their accesories?.. The only logical conclusion i can think of is they lost so much money in the past on the 3 year extended warranty and the RROD that they have to overprice the accessories and pass the costs on to consumers buying these things.. I mean come on, even the most hardcore 360 fans have to think $99.99 for a wireless adapter is just outrageous!
On top of that if you want wireless for your 360 you HAVE to buy the MS one, the 360 doesnt allow any 3rd party accessories.. it wouldnt be as bad if you could also buy off brand wireless for cheaper but with the 360 you cant so you have no choice but to pay $99.99..
I mean that costs half of what a whole Wii console costs, which BTW has built in Wifi. I mean just think about this for a second, $99.99 for wireless adapter, $150.00 Hard drive and one year of Xbox live and that alone all costs $300.00, and that doesnt even include the 360 console itself! Anyone else find this to be ridicoulous?
Kennysolidsnake
you answered your own question in the first 2 sentences.
They even announced that their goal at the START back in 2005 when they lost on every console sold was to MAKE money back on accessories.
Or mind telling me why you bought a PS2 with the failure rates, also needing to buy:
network adapter
4-player controller adapter
Hard drive wasn't included, so you bought memory cards.
Seriously, get over yourself. Sony does things like that, you turn your head "it's k"
Microsoft does it "zomg a console i dunt hav is so dum, i r haet that im in last"
That's the fact. Keep on being selective, you only prove why the minority group of PS3 owners is also the worst group of sheep to ever post in these forums. Proving the Xbox community to be better
ANYONE WHO SAYS NON-MS ADAPTORS DONT WORK ON THE 360 KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THE 360shadow8585Most ppl will still go for the Microsoft brand adapters. Plus many ppl have 360s and dont know about 3rd party adapter support. Most ppl dont educate themselves with every detail about there console.
[QUOTE="fifamessi"][QUOTE="Renegade_Fury"]some people dont have a choice of not buying it... Alot of people seem to forget that most people dont have R-J45 connections handy near there tv. Most 360 gamers need to by the adapter to get online. But you can also argue that if RJ-45 ports aren't nearby, there's also a decent chance the house doesn't have Internet or probably has it confined to one room (probably the office--the modem's direct-linked to the office computer).Cool, then don't buy it.

from a economy point of view, we are helping and doing something good, unlike the people who don't want to pay for things

It is too expensive but in the end its for customisability. Say you didnt have enough money for a PS3 right? Wouldnt it be cool if you could get a PS3 with only the stuff you want? Like wired controllers, no wirelss internet and so forth. Then the PS3 would be cheaper right? So 360 is going for customisability. If its only one part of the 360 that makes it too expensive you dont have to buy it! Do you get what I mean?
Imagine a PS3 was say $700 (I live in NZ) and i only had $500. then instead i could get a model without a wireless adapter and I'll get it for cheaper. Thats what the 360 does. But I still agree the 99.99 US (?) is too much
Microsoft is the only company that is actually doing it right. A wired connection is alwaysbetter than a wireless connection so that is why all of my consoles are wired to my router. I have never used the wireless in my Wii or PS3 which to me is a waste of money. I just wish that Nintendo and Sony made wireless an option and used the saved money to upgrade the GPU of their respective consoles so they could at least have a chance to stand up to the 360.

Its not about whose fault it is. Its clear casuals dont know as much about gaming as hardcores and microsoft knows it. Its not these ppl fault they would rather have different hobbies. Microsoft knows this and overprices there stuff on purpose because ppl or more likely to look at the 360 rack in the store and buy the product there then asume that there might be an alternative which in the 360s case is rare. Its nice to know that you have a wired connection but please remember that most casuals would rather buy a wireless adapter then wire cable from there computer (where most ppls routers are near) to there tv set which may be in a diff room. Microsoft charging 100 for an adapter = rip off. Just like sony charging 170$ for ylod victims is a rip off.Microsoft is the only company that is actually doing it right. I understand the point you are trying to make, but it is invalid. It does not matter if the consumer is inept and cannot do proper research before making a purchase. This reminds me of a friend who told me to get a PS3 as a blu-ray player because it was a great deal at $299 and later that day I installed a blu-ray drive in my PC for $49.99. Does this mean that the PS3 is a rip-off? Not really. This just means that a product cannot be judged by the actions of the consumer. Do I think that $100 for a wireless adapter is too much? Yes. But I would rather have the opportunity to opt out of paying for a useless feature than overpaying for something I feel I need.

Do you just pick random things from the PS3 and 360 everyday and carp about them? I understand you claim to be half-lemming half-cow but you don't have to go balls out to try and prove it. Just drop the act. Nobody cares. Please Log In to post.
