Besides for the name Gran Turismo and the game being exclusive I do not understand what is the big deal about GT5. GT5 only has damage on less then 20% of the cars and even then the damage does not seem to effect the cars to greatly. The car graphics do not blow the other car games away anymore.

Forza 3 has much better car part customization, Better A.I., more options in online, Forza also looks amazing, a few different levels of damage from none to simulation, nice new features such as car flipping and rewind, paint custization that can let you personalize your car to the point where your car look is only limited by your imgination and paint skill.

ummm they never said how many cars would have damage modeling....if so link it

They said 170 cars and it was the race cars only. You can find the link though since it has been posted on here.

The good old pass judgement on a game you haven't played trick.

*Thumbs down*

Cherokee_Jack

Everyone seems to be ignoring the post that should've ended the thread.

What? All of a sudden you can't have opinions about a game based on what you see prior to release? All games should be assumed equal until you personally play the final version from start to finish?

Bull****.

Too Human anyone?

this is not even a demo yet.

I say the same to you as I do the guys that are calling it the best game ever.

Wait until the thing is released before you make any decision on the game or it makes it appear as though you have a bias.

The majority of the industry doesn't seem all that impressed with GT5 so far.

Finally, GT(5) gets bashed on SW, and it's from a fan, even better.

Forza's damage model's not that much better you know. Take a look:

Here

A car driving that fast, slamming into a stationary object of any sort would be completely totaled. Those who assume that FM3 OR GT5 would have complete damage models are just setting themselves up for a major disappointment.

On a side note... what's the draw to these games anyway? Even with a wheel, I can hardly see it getting anywhere close to the feel of driving a real car.

Gran Turismo series has been left behind by better racers out there today like Forza, Grid, and Burnout. It's still amazing that GT5 is just starting onine and damage. That boggles my mind. And the damage rendering isn't that great either. Only 180 cars will have damage in GT5. That's ridiculous.

I'm betting they just take damage out of the final product. I remember reading gaming mags back in '99 that said GT2 would have damage. I don't care if there is video footage out there of the game with a damage model more primative than Toca Touring Championship (you know, the one that came out in '98 ) it wont be in the final product. Anyone who expects GT5 to amount to anything more than passing a bunch of stupid licence tests for the privilege of driving second hand Nissan Skylines around High Speed Ring is setting themselves up for disappointment.

Pokémon Yellow was a bigger upgrade on Pokemon Red/Blue than GT4 was on GT1

Well. I've never been much into racing games, much less racing sims (I think the only racers I've played semi-seriously was Wipeout. lol). I'm just wondering what draws so many people to Forza and GT. If it does feel like driving a real car, then that's a reason, I guess.

It's sad. The best car physics I've seen is in GTA 4, and that's not even a racing game. Motorstorm and Burnout are a close second. Everything else is bumper cars.

Prologue is fun but it is like a demo. NOT an accurate representation of the final product

lol Prologue's not really a demo as the games changed and evloved. If they wanna show damage to the masses they would put a patch on prologue. But really Prologue's like a year and a half old.Dont really think its gonna give us a good idea of the game as many aspects could and would have changed accordingly like the online system.

Yesterday I saw a considerable chunk of a gameplay from Gran Turismo 5 presented by one of the Polish journalists on the Gamescom. Of course it was a specially prepared demo, but I was largely unimpressed. I don't know if this will be the core of the final version, but if it will, then it will be trully abysmal. The journalist have switched off all the assists, has set up the driving physics to the most professional level, etc. and still the friction against barriers was almost non-existent, the car still can bounce of the walls, blocks of tires, etc., and collisions between the vehicles haven't changed since GT 2/3, even maybe 1... If this will prevail in the full version, then it's not going to be even a contest for Forza Motorsport 3. On top of that, the presentation was also lacking, the trees were lacking anti-aliasing at all and looked horrible, not to mention they looked like a copy-paste affair.

The built cut for Gamescom was trully underwhelming and from my perspective, the future doesn't look too bright. And don't call me a fanboy, I have been growing up with Gran Turismo series, ever since the very first one on PS1, but I'm not blinded by a nostalgia. If these things will re-occur in the final build, then I'm really sorry for those who were hoping for a proper turn-around in the series. Personally, I don't want the newest Gran Turismo to end up like this, I was hoping for a strong competition. Oh, and by the way, does the idea of NASCAR races with 16 cars only seem appealing to you?

Salt_The_Fries

dont worry just buy Forza3 if you found GT5 abysmal....

For me it just played like any other gran turismo game with next-gen graphics; pretty much the standard for racing game sequels (including F3). Blur and NFS: Shift were actually more promising imho; especially with the 20+ player games in Blur, it's really fun :D

and later i pointed out that Prologue is LIKE a demo in that it is not a true representation of the finished game. you are correct GT5 can not be compared to any other game until it is released.

From what I've seen GT5 will be like every other GT. It's fun upgrading and tweaking your car, but once you start racing the fun stops.

NASCAR has only 16 cars? all the cars on the track and having them closely together racing bumper to bumper is what makes it exciting. with 16 cars that cant really happen. hopefully thats not true.

Am I the only one who wants the AI to be fixed, or has everyone moved from single player to online.
