GI gave resistance an 8.5 and gears a 9. haven't checked GR. they said resistance lost some of its flair with the new weapon system. i haven't played either yet.

False facts? Look it up. Or is that too much work for you? all i see are links to VGchartz, with a game that has only been released in NA. this means that that the install base is around 5-6 million. so its a misrepresentation of facts (if you can even call them that, due to no official sales numbers). and besides, gears was a sequel to a multi million competition killiing blockbuster...what did people really expect? people that dont even really like gears buy gears. but why are we even talking about sales? were talking about the 2 game's quality Metacritic and Gamerankings both give Gears a higher score than Resistance. But that debate is pointless since people have opinions. Some people liked the first Resistance over the original Gears 2, others prefer Left 4 Dead, others hate the genre all together and like games like Tetris or Columns.

I don't listen to statistics that don't post their expirement information. They could of based their findings on a group of 50 people within the same region.

How about people get a sense of taste for good games instead of buying the same shooter crap re-packaged with a different name over and over again? This is the reason gaming is turning to crap. All people want these days are "dark" shooters with 3-hour campaigns and repetitive multi-player.

I actually agree. While GEOW 2 is pretty fun, nothing beats having the splicer make enemies just explode right infront of you, that or seeing the blades slice off their limbs one by one, and then watching them crawl after you on their chest with what arms they have left. Resistance 2 just tries really hard to be a different shooter (not saying the story is perfect) whereas I dunno if I feel the innovation with Gears 2 as much as I think I should.
I agree with the following That Gears of War 2 is vastly superior to Resistance 2 in single player(the single player for R2 is crap) I agree that Resistance 2 has the better competitive MP I disagree that R2 is deep(unlocking skins isn't deep, atleast COD 4 was unlocking weapons and skills or something) I think Horde and the 8 player COOP are a tie. All in all i liked Both for there strong points almost equally...I will side with Gears of War 2 because it still has a more traditional COOP experience as well as everythign else. Both games IMO are not as good as the Shooters of 07 though....IMO.

I dont understand what sales have to do with anything, the Wii has outsold both PS3 and 360 by a lot so is it the best system?, i barely ever play mine since i bought it. gta4 sold millions of copies and it wasnt that great,

yeah small unknown reviewer sites FTW!!!!! I agree with what IGN saus, whilst gears 2's singleplayer is incredible, once its done its done, the online is not amazing so it will end up just being a game you play when a friend comes round on co-op... Though once you have finished Resistances worse singleplayer you have abrilliant online part to play until you get tired of it. Plus the co-op campaign.
LOL!. Man, this is why I love system wars. Fanboys calling IGN ignorant and PS3 fanboys from one article. I own BOTH and I agree with IGN. If those two games didn't have mutiplayer, I would choose Gears 2 hands down.
I don't feel like I have enough time on my hands to master all of the one-hit-kill-athon matches in Gears 2 by practicing over and over with the mortar or the hammer of dawn so I prefer the chaotic and exciting fast-paced matches Resistance 2 provides. It's just my personal choice.

Jeez, I wish people would stop whining and damage controlling about IGN being ignorant and PS3 fanboys, it's sad. I know that R 2 has the better MP, haven't tried the SP yet.
Wow that's pretty suprising to hear. And they said Res2 multiplayer is better?! That's it I can't wait until xmas I NEED RES2 and MGS4 now!!! Gears 2 was a fantastic game though I just finished the single-player campaign Friday.

How exactly is Gears' multiplayer bad? Its essentially like the first which was hailed. They've added Horde, new weapons, better tactics with grenades, stopping power, and other stuff. So what is bad about it? The matchmaking which has no relevance in terms of actual gameplay? :roll:
