I liked DMC4 more then Bayonetta, Is that just me?hexashadow13Haven't tried DMC4 yet. I might since the price is pretty cheap now.

[QUOTE="Ragnarok1051"] I'm no hack n slash gamer, but the combat wasn't anything spectacular to me. I found the combat in DMC3 to be better. babybinky
It's easily the most fluid combat for any Hack N Slash game to ever be released.
DMC3's combat has flashy looks, and is quite fun.
But going back to the game after playing Bayonetta is just painful, it truly feels archaic.
please stop talking about bayonetta and go play ninja gaiden already... then come back
They're nearly identical in quality. I think I'd give an edge to NG just because of the extras.I'm not gonna say over all hack n' slash (NG1 & 2 were better IMO), but it is definitely a great game. The story is completely nonsense and they really try to force the "ooh, she's in a tight suit posing suggestively" down your throat every 2 seconds, but again great game.
Somewhere down the road you may want to also check out Vanquish if you haven't. Also made by Platinum Games, fast paced and fun, with a story that makes sense.

I've played Ninja Gaiden (NES), Ninja Gaiden (Xbox), Ninja Gaiden Black (Xbox), Ninja Gaiden 2 (Xbox 360)
I enjoyed the games (Even though they were all generally pretty cheap ((Excluding Black))) The combat is more visceral and satisfying. And I can see why some people would choose Black as their favorite Hack N Slash (It's my 3rd favorite) but their combat is not better than Bayonetta from a Hack N Slash standpoint.
This is of course, assuming you've played Bayonetta.
Can't exactly comment on the fluid part, but to point out DMC's flashiness and not point out Bayonetta's is kinda ignoring it. Ragnarok1051
Bayonetta is indeed flashy, but I found DMC3 to be flashier. (Flashy = Good thing)
From what I've played of Bayonetta, I enjoyed the combat and how it's accessible but I still found the combat in DMC3 more entertaining(Now let's see how Ninja Theory does their reboot.:P) and the same with Sigma.:) I did like Bayonetta as a character however..8)
One thing that bugged me about Bayonetta was how didn't understand ****! ... I guess that's probably cuz I was ... not myself...:P
Oh and I also liked GOW's combat because of how it's a simple "pick up & play" sorta game and you can bump up the difficulty for a better challenge.:)
NG is better.themyth01
... Well was actually.:P (I'm saying was until I see NG3 beat it's prequels.:P)

you're contradicting yourself. NG is so satisfying because its combat is extremely fast and smooth, there's less delay in NG from button press to action than any other hack and slash.I want Bayonetta. It being only $30 now, I will be buying soon.carljohnson3456I got it for 17.00 used.

I have not got tired of staring at her as yet.:D Works for me8)
I held off on this game because I didnt have a 360 At the time and I heard the Ps3 version was garbage. I rented it for ps3 a while back but didnt get far before i took it back, had other games to play at the time I think. I am Huge GOW and NG fan, I thought NG was the king of combos and gameplay in this genre, boy was I wrong Bayonetta should have got a 10.0, I am on chapter 12 and am already thinking about my 2nd playtru. I suprised it is not considered the standard for hack and slash games. I even find the story great and am very interested in seeing how it ends. For me bayonetta sets the bar, shame I missed the party. There is a huge difference in the ps3 and 360 version, someone here said at one point that after the patches it was on par, it actually is so much better in so many little ways that it feels like a different game then the ps3 version, IMO>

better late then never. It really is a superb game

I find it more satisfying killing enemies.
But there is no way it's smoother than Bayonetta. (Faster yes)
The reason NG is actually harder than Bayonetta is that Bayonetta's combat is so precise/smooth that it actually makes the game easier.

As someone who played, loved and consider NGB to be the best Xbox game, i think Bayonetta is miles better.
I wasn't going to ever get the terribad PS3 version but I might rent this on the 360 to see what the hell all this fuss is about.FIipMode
if you are a fan at all of the hack and slash genre, i highly, highly recommend it.
i'm lovin' the kanye avy and sig btw...
i still really want to play this and was waiting for the price to drop i think im going to pick it up soon
Bayonetta is the queen of the genre now I agree, you will get a lot of people disagree on here but it isn't an exclusive but meh... GoW is a great package but the gameplay lets it down a bit, the production values are above the competition ofcourse but I play for the action myself.
i didn't like bayonetta's art style much. but the actual gameplay is second to none imo. and im a huge H&S fan
Its the best Hack and Slash game this Generation (360 version) and it has its own style with over the top cheesiness which makes it stand out from the crowd.Something GOW 3, Dante Inferno or DMC 4 do not have. The amount of combos and the mini games included, I cant wait for the sequel.
I have no idea what you're saying about the PS3 version, because it played flawless for me, and Bayonetta is nowhere near God of War 3 quality. It's nice that you enjoyed it though. People keep trying to diminish God of War's greatness, but it wont work.

what do you mean by quality? graphics? if we are talking about gameplay mechanics they're right up there with each other. i prefer GOW3's slightly, but that's just me.

The combat dept in GoW is nowhere near the likes of Ninja gaiden or Bayonetta. When it comes to gameplay GoW is far from the best imho.
I agree. Bayonetta is the best hack n slash game this gen. Way better than God of War 3, imo. I put it up there with Ninja Gaiden Black and DMC3. The combat is fun, stylish, deep, and the boss fights are incredible. The level designs are also spectacular. Only problem I had with the game is the ammount of cutscenes and how long they are. At least Ninja Gaiden knows its story sucks, so it keeps its cutscenes are brief.
As for God of War 3, I found it to be disappointing, especially compared to its prequels. Maybe it's 'series fatigue', but I'm really bored with God of War's combat. It's basically the same as the previous ones, but with more weapons. However, most of the weapons have the same feeling, so there's basically no point in changing weapons. In Ninja Gaiden, DMC3 and Bayonetta, each weapon has its own style, advantages & disadvantages. Combat is shallow and easy. You can beat most battles by spamming L1 + box. I did just that in the final battle and had no trouble. Puzzle designs were also weak, as well as the levels. Hopping through harpies was annoying, the garden puzzle dragged on, and the crate level was just bad. Nothing in this game stood out for me, aside from a few boss battles.
I know many people use God of War 3's story to be the end all of the best hack n slash argument, but really, the story isn't good at all. It's just your typical revenge story, and then Kratos has this change of heart, which was poorly executed. It was unbelievable. And the writing in the end was laughable. Hope. Also, I disliked Kratos in GOW3. I had no problems with him in the first game, and didn't really care for him in the second, but I just hated Kratos in GOW3. I wanted him to die throughout the whole game. He tries to hard to be a badass, but he makes himself unlikable.
I just can't agree. The game (and I totally understand that people won't agree with me) just feels like a mess. Scattered notes lying on the ground suggesting a really deep mythology that never comes across in the goofy but not funny cutscenes. It's over-the-top in a way that's less stylish and fun and more eye-roll worthy and bizarre. Yeah. The combat is responsive and well done. The addition of an in-game store also goes a long way to give the game some replay value. Beyond that, the game lacks any coherence or continuity in its story and the dodge maneuver is way, way too useful and some sections of the game experience such sharp difficulty spikes that it's just annoying. Blah. It's not a bad game. Definitely not what your making it out to be. NAPK1NS
Did you ever get to finish it on Normal or did you have to tone down the difficulty? :P
