u can install windows XP onto your mac and play games that way. im not sure of the exact way of doing it but theres probably info on apples website (they have an app to make it easy). a 9400 is not a good chip for games. dont expect max settings at high resoluitions with something like crysis.

A 9400 is... okay. At the very least, you should be able to run pretty much anything (except GTA4 maybe), just not on the highest settings.

Buying a mac for gaming seems a little silly to me. I have a mac, and other than Duke Nukem 3D i use it only for internet and graphics work.

I didn't bought my mac for gaming, I used my mac the 80% of time for work, and i bought this mac and another 3 MacBooks for the job (some troyan virus in the office fcked up a lot of value information, so the "bosses" of my company decide to buy 4 macs, and one of those was for me :) ) but i would like to have some cool PC games.

Lol, yeah I got a few jabs from my coworkers a couple of weeks ago when we went to Chicago. They also teased me because I wore my transformers T-shirt. I guess I'm just a big kid after all.

There's also WOW and Spore. But for the most part PCs are better for running games and such. But for everything else I prefer the Mac Pro that i'm typing this on. I love the huge screen.

If you have a Mac Pro with one of the high end GPUs in it (there aren't many choices unfortunately), and if you also dual boot Windows, then you can game with a Mac. However, hardware choices are very limited with a Mac, you don't have anywhere near as many options for buying or upgrading.

Agreed, Macs are never meant for gaming anyways. I have a gaming rig, thank you very much, and I could care less if my Macbook can't play any games on it.

Yep, anyone with a Mac can tell you that they're terrible for gaming. I think they're also bad for several other reasons, but that's aurguable. But the fact that Macs are bad for gaming is pretty much a fact.

#1 I have the new 13" Aluminum MacBook....the 9400M is decent but its not great (as its not intended to be, its a integrated graphics chip and the 13" MacBook is a general consumer product, not a professiona/gamer level product)

#2 If you want to play games on your Mac.....go get your copy of Windows XP or Vista and install it to your Mac with Boot Camp and when you want to play games switch over to the Windows operating system and play them natively.....issue solved.

The Mac OS (OSX Leopard) doesnt support many games, or run them efficiently (As expected since Windows runs on about 78% of the computers worldwide).....but I still say it does everything else aside from gaming better than Windows....and Macs run windows too so really its the best of both worlds. Anyone that says Mac's suck cuz u cant game on them has no idea what theyre talking about.....Its 2009, not 2003 anymore...and Yes Mac's have right click too :P

in defence of apple the 9400m will "max" cod4 at a res of 800x600 at 30 fps. But if u want a "high res" according to console gamers, you will have to play cod4 at 1024x768 on medium-high, but will get about 35fps. It will look like the console verisons. That laptop is decent honestly but if u want a powerful but not a best of a notebook, get a macbook pro they have better laptop graphics cards in them like 9600m gt's and like which can play crysis at medium and fall out 3 high.

Actually Macs are best for sound editing/movie editing.

Worked in over 50 studios around north america and 98% of the studios are using a mac in the studios.

So music/movie editing = better on Mac

Games = better on pc

Frankly the lg p310 has a 13 inch screen a 9600 m gt, 4gb of ram at stock, liquid cooling, and > p8600. Weight 400 gr less than the mac book.

That computer just blows the macbook for anything including gaming

Go to system>Startup disk and format part of your hard drive off for windows, follow instructions, and no, it's not a gaming laptop, but i've found some interesting things, my desktop is a little old, and struggles with Supreme commander, but runs oblivion great, this MBP, runs oblivion like crap, but supreme commander maxed out like a charm (love duo core). You should be able to run Stalker:shadows of chernobyl, supreme commander, all the old sweet blizzard games, and random other crap, but for using it for Higher end FPS's, good luck.
