wow mgs 4 looks ugly!

textures = not the best

anti-aliasing = very good, no jaggies

enviorments = large, with battles playing out around the player

but no, let's complain about textures

i'm actually telling you my thoughts on what i've seen. i'm still going to get the game and was hoping some users in the know could tell me why it looked so bad. obviously when i say looked bad it's all relative. it doesn't look like a ps1 game, it just reminds me of ps1 games when the people go all blocky when they move.

anyway, i#'m not trying to flamebait

Theirs a handful of MGS4 videos. Both gameplay and cinematic footage. They look good and your seeing them as they are meant to be seen.

and you havent answered my question, MGS4 either got a downgrade or GeOW got a major upgrade, cuz I remembered the fist video of MGS4 and I was like ZOMG it looks so good and I compared it with GeOW and was like GeOW couldn't compare, but now it is the other way round.

They're still very comparable in my opinion. Gears of War just came a very long way in the final few months of development, once Epic started running the game on all three of the Xbox 360's cores.

when i was watching it in the shop it did look kind of like someone had filmed it off a tv. do you know what i mean? that might be what gave it the grainy look

That could be it. Have you seen the footage online? gametrailers has lots of footage in HD as well.

Heh. If you just "wanted to know" because you had some intellectual curiosity about it, you could have asked it in the MGS forums or the PS3 forums. Instead you asked it in System Wars. Now you say you don't want flames? Get a clue sparky.

I am now officially convinced. If there was a law passed where the only way you could bash Sony or the PS3 was to first jump off a building to your death - lemmings would do it. ZIMdoom

You know I hear somethingl ike cows were gonna start pulling their eyes out to bash the 360 since the RROD phase is pretty much over with the newer consoles and cows still seem to hang onto that one like it was their beloved ROSEBUD!

Could all be internet mumbo jumbo though :)

the reason i asked in here was simply because most of the time when you ask a question regarding a negative observation about a game on that games board you get modded for it. also it's fun to watch fanboys like you overreact

Oh they delayed it because it was running so smooth and the gameplay looked so polish? Stop worshipping at the altar of this game. They have changed things up drastically and it looks like a mess. The graphics look pretty sharp its the GAME itself that looks a mess.

there was a nice blurry effect when you zoomed in with your binoculars in the demo. my faith in mgs 4 has been restored

i've just downloaded the same video they were showing and it does look better now that i'm watching it again. still, the surroundings i think are all very plain. but i guess you don't get colourful, active vistas in a warzone

I agree with Bread_or_Decide. You're completely wrong. The graphics are amazing. Download it on PSN. You'll see.

You can't be serious, I'm no MGS fan but even I can't find anything of substance to gripe about and for me thats saying something.

I'm going to actually play this MGS because it's been the first one I have any interest in since the PS1 days.

Since Gears was brought up on the first page.

Gears of War has better textures IMO.

That is all. Just about everything else I'd give to MGS. Actually contrast, I'd give to Gears but that's something that can easily be fixed.
