I decided to rent Oblivion this weekend to see what all the hoopala was about. All I have to say is wow . . . my first foray into Western RPG's was a forgettable one. This game is soooo boring. Dude I was in the same exact boat, I got the game and returned it the next day, there's just too much and no real structure. For about 6 hours all I did was create a character and run around aimlessly and keep getting killed. The combat is not even that immersive. Overall the game is just not for the even slightly impatient. I really don't see how many people can actually enjoy that game

It got great scores everywhere and I do not get it at all. It was full of problems that usually makes other games lose like 3 points off their score yet its acceptable in this game? Nope. That's already the better version. Unless you enjoy longer load times, switching to the Xbox360 version isn't going to help matters. This type of game just doesn't appeal to some people. (As a FF fan myself, I too prefer JRPG's. That being said, this game was still enjoyable for me)

yup i agree with the TC, i dont like this game, it is really not up my alley, theres too much non linearity, and the world is pretty desolate, and even so no travel is actually required, you just click on ur map wherever you want to go, seriously people say Gears is overrated? im gonna go ahead and say oblivion is the most overrated game of the 00 decade so far.
does no one else find the slow movement and blotchy frame rates and terrible animations and repeated characters and music that messes up and starts over constantly and terrible controls and horrible combat annoying?

This is why games like Morrowmind and Kotor don't sell well. They get high ratings because they do have nice graphics, and very deep gameplay, but the games is just too nerdy. Most Wrpgs are. Just a theory.

Use speed traveling to get around faster,just go to the menu and over to your map,press on the destination you want to go to and then hit accept,or whatever it is.If the marker on your map has no symbol you can press on because you havent got there yet then just go to the closet place near it.I guess we all have our likes and dislikes.

You made some valid points. But all you did was point out its flaws. There are a lot of good things in this game, as well. I honestly don't feel like pointing them all out, but you can not like a game, but still appreciate what it offers. It's not your cup of tea, we can see that. But to say it's terrible? That's just false...

i do 90% of the time. I still think its horrible. I know a lot of people like it. Thats why I am asking. Then it's probably just not your style of game. Almost anyone who enjoys rpg's would enjoy Oblivion. And to the person that said WRPGs are nerdy. I think jRPGs are quite a lot nerdier giving that each fighter takes a turn and gets a number based on the amount of damage they do. Remember those good old days of playing D&D with friends and being called nerdy and people making those "5 damage" etc... jokes?

Okay, I see, my mistake; it got a 9.6. HOWEVER, it did NOT receive GOTY.... It may have elsewhere, but not here at GS.
