Doesn't surprise me.
Bayonetta has gone a significant step in action games. GoW 3 may have the upper hand on story, but game play wise, it will more or less be the same.
This topic is locked from further discussion.
Fixed. You wish it were only PS fanboys wanting this.i can see that. i dont know why gamersare so excited about gow 3.GrannyGoat
Bayo has faster paced combat this doesnt mean its better it just means its faster and less grounded.
Gow has better visuals, puzzles, voice acting, story and characters.
Bayo is a good game but extremely shallow and forgettable... when you judge a game you judge all the aspects I mentioned. Gow hits all the above points and floors while doing it.
Trust me. If you played it you would NEVER forget that game. Their is no other action game thats crazier than Bayonetta or has a combat system more over the top. Comparing Bayonetta's combat to GOW is like comparing a Cheetah to a Tortus. Bayonetta is more combo crazy with all of stuff going on, but GoW III is more crazy because of the sheer brutality and just doing straight up mean things... Gow3 is crazier because of the Gore? Are you Forget Mortal combat? The game tops GOW in gore and gore does not make a game crazier. Riding a motorcycle up a rocket that shooting off into outerspace where you fight a god and punch that god in to the sun.....that crazy.Bayonetta's combat is more refined than GoW's combat, but that doesn't mean GoW's combat is bad.
If you have actually tried "button mashing" with both games, you would notice how they both react differently. If you button mash in Bayonetta, you would look insane. You would go from the wall to the sky to the floor and all around the area without landing a single hit on an enemy. If you buttom mash in GoW, you would rarely pull off some of the stronger moves, but you would do some small/decent damage. I'm not trying to bash GoW in any way.
Bayonetta is about style and God of War is about brutality. Maybe those standards may determine the "opinion" of a review site.

I agree with this to some extent yet I can be just as stylish in GOW 2 with the spear of fate and Blade swapping. Button Mashing in Bayonetta actually gets me by just fine. You should try god mode on GOW. Witch time makes it too easy.Bayonetta's combat is more refined than GoW's combat, but that doesn't mean GoW's combat is bad.

Meh I don't really care. I just find it amusing to see the hoopla cows are making over GOW3, like it's the second coming. If I had a PS3, sure I'd rent it, and have it beat and returned in a week, and be done with it. I don't buy games like GOW 3 though. Waste of money. Cows can waste their money of GOW3 and Heavy Rain crap if they so choose.

Why do feel like it's only PS fanboys hyping this game? This game is regarded by many gamers to be one of the best action games they've ever played. That's why it's being hyped. That's why it has a 94 avg on metacritic. That's why a GoW Collection for the PS3 exist. Now continue on with your damage control.

Just because you fail to see the value in the GoW franchise and/or action games as a whole doesn't mean that you should act all high and mighty and start going all condescending on everyone.

I'm not trying to say you can't be stylish in either. I was actually referring to how some people say they are both "buttom mashers." I've played God mode on GoW I and II, and I loved eating my controller in anger. On Non-Stop ∞ Climax in Bayonetta, the hardest difficulty, witch time is disabled, the enemies are stronger and faster, and the enemy spawns are changed.

Yet at the same time, none of it looked grotesque enough to make my parents want to return it when I was little.
When my parents saw me playing GoW back in 05' (I was 10 at the time) they were extremely skeptical about it and tried to get rid of I without even consulting me.
My God, can everyone stop compairing the two titles. They're both great in different ways, many ofwhichhave beenmentioned repeatedly. Why the hell are we so eager to compare a multiplat with an exclusive, especially when they're only loosely in the same genre?

And you would not have made that comment about Mortal combat if you did believe it yourself...or not have played it. On point brutality or gore does not make a game "crazier". What push GOW is it's epic scale and story. All I am say it that Bayonetta's combat is way crazier and game is way more over the top.
They are just upset the game didn't turn out to be longer than expected and the story wasn't as good as they had hoped it would be. That's why they docked the points. Biased if you ask me. Honeslty, it doesn't really matter because I would've bought it even if the metacritic were at 8.0 - 8.5

Well, Mortal combat does not have a sex scene or nudity.[QUOTE="Aboogie5"]The interesting concept about this is I believe Bayonetta sucked for having too many pointless moves. More is NOT better. Graphics evolve and gore evolves. MK looks like a joke nowadays compared to God of War. I'm not saying nostalgia ain't good but seriously, play in the present, not the past dude. It's like saying Goldeneye is still the best... I can barely stand it's graphics nowadays!
[QUOTE="Ragashahs"]Its funny too cause the one gripe everyone has with the previous games is the crappy sub weapons you get, where as in this one everyone is saying how all the weapons are awesome. Really all these reviewers need to play it on the hardest difficulty because thats where you really see the depth of the combat, the game is meant to be approachable for new comers and insanely difficult for those that want a challenge, which it most definitely was in the previous 2 games on the hardest setting. You cannot beat the game using the blades alone on the hardest difficulty. Even on the hardest difficulty the combat to this day isn't up to par with some of the other big names in the genre. The series has just made up for it in alot of other areas.one complain i find annoying about GOW3 is the fact the the combat really hasn't changed over the series. it hans't changed for a reason becuase the gameplay is simply perfect the way it is.

Not the point of the comment. I was just saying that gore in games don't make games crazier in action. It mostly used for empowerment. I just brought up Mortal Kombat to make the point that it's been done before and that because GOW is doing it in that degree, the gore did not make it better that Bayonetta. You guys seem to completely ignore metacritic (91 on Bayonetta, 94 for GoW III), as well as Game Inforemr (dual 10's for GoW III and a 9 for Bayonetta).
IGN and Gamespot are the only critics?
Try Metacritic, score aggregator.
Bayonetta on 360- 90
PS3- 86
God of War III- 94
Heh, guess it's considered better by critics....
Who cares what IGN says. Just look at the metacritic and God Of War 3 has a higher score.Whether its better or not is up to the person.
gamespot has never had the love it should for god of war. Check meta critic though, it might be one of the best reviewed games of the entire yearThe combat in Bayonetta really fresh.
God of War's Epicness is what's keeping it AAA (just barely).
and for me, i don't care too much for hack n slash anyways, so I take epic set pieces over good combat mechanics.
FeedOnATreeFrog
Wow this is interesting. Bayonetta is better than god of war! Guess Bayonetta 2 will be twice as good as god of war! smh
Aboogie5
And GI says GoW3 > Bayonetta :o
That's why it's actually better to play games to form an opinion versus going purely on reviews.

Scores don't show the fact that Bayonetta has indeed pushed the envelope for action games as far as combat goes.
I'm not saying one is better than the other (I mean, seriously, there is no right or wrong when it comes to subjectivity), but you have to appreciate that.
lol they gave mw2 graphics a ten? rofl
Aboogie5
After they gave GTAIV a 10 in graphics nothing surprises me.
Its originality is what gives it the edge. If God of war 1+2 never existed and this was the first one than this would have gotten the better score.. maybe
Bayonetta is the cream of the crop. Such a kick ass female character and the most stunning and deep combat system.

Considering the scale, GTA IV looked really impressive.Yeah, but a perfect score in the graphics department was stretching it.

Havingplenty ofoptions available can be a good thing. True, you don't. Yet when P. Games decided to give her an AOE move by spinning the analog stick in a circle (which is just terrible in my opinion) it got in the way of the combos I wanted to pull off. Maybe I should of the played the 360 version. The slow downs and stiff movements really turned me off.[QUOTE="Kori-san"][QUOTE="Aboogie5"]

God of War is one of those big name franchises that I never understood all the hype over, like Halo or Pokemon. I've played the first 2 and even the one on PSP, and I thought they were all just OKAY. Maybe I'm just a freak, but give me ninjas with my button mashing gonzo action, or don't give me any of it.
