Wow what a horrible 4th quarter.

2009 is a low point this generation, but I can't really complain. 2006, 2007 and 2008 were three huge blockbuster years one following the other. 2007 being the best one of them all. But honestly, every generation needs that lull. Sure, a lot of games were pushed back to 2010, but that's just making 2010 look all the more sweeter, I guess. I myself plan on catching up with games I missed this holiday season with Dead Space, Street Fighter IV and a few others. The only new 2009 release I'll get will be Muramasa for my Wii. Otherwise there's nothing that really interests me on a personal level.

Oh really. Without even trying it. I hated GeoW but I want to try GeoW 2. Same for Bioshock and Halo. You never know when something will change and you might enjoy it. I at least like playing a game before I say it sucks. Then I can actually back my opinion up.

Man... I don't know how anyone can "hate on" this year. I've been busy with gaming up to my eyeballs, to the point where I haven't had much time for GameSpot (*gasp* ).

There are simply so many *solid* experiences that it's hard to call the gaming landscape "sparse". I'm going to be playing Halo ODST for a few more months, and I haven't even tried the new Halo 3 maps yet, or gone after my Recon Armor. Demon's Souls promises another Disgaea-length romp, Borderlands looks deep enough to warrant a replay, and Brutal Legend is this year's Psychonauts. Then we have Dragon Age Origins, the God of War collection, and a new Ratchet & Clank title - all of which will offer a good chunk of gaming time.

For the optimistic crowds out there, there are also titles like Modern Warfare 2 and Uncharted 2 to look forward to - which are just icing on the cake of what has been a surprising solid year. As far as delays go ... GOOD - the usual overcrowded holiday season looks to be making way for a more "dispersed" game release schedule. It'll be nice, come February / March - to see game releases on the shelf, instead of the usual "dump for the holidays and prepare for a looooooong summer".

Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant. It looks amazing, plays like a dream and the voice-acting/story-telling will hook you in right from the off. PS3 officially has it's a killer-app and a million tears are shed by 360 fanboys.

It's very, very good. It's easily one of the best games on the system, blending fantastic presentation and visuals with gameplay that is practically second to none. And then there's the stellar multiplayer which you'll probably be playing until Uncharted 3 ships. No, Uncharted 2 is not perfect, but it's closer than pretty much any other game out there these days.

Uncharted 2 has no rival on the PS3. There's no other game, despite Killzone 2 on the visuals, with the same level of quality as Naughty Dog's newest game. The rhythm of the game is fast-paced and action-packed, and includes some fun, well-thought-out dialogue. The game is almost perfect in every stage, and it has online coop and deathmatch; there's no doubt that it's one of the top three games for the PS3, and one of the five best games of this year.
