The article is probably true and Walmart has made a deal with a Chinese manufacturer.  They do this with everything from fishing poles, to bicycles, and home appliances.   What it doesn't mean is that they will stop selling Bluray media and such.

No that doesn't say its a big mistranslation. It even links to a story about a company that makes low cost DVD players for Walmart making an HDDVD player. The "hd-dvd" camp can't confirm it because its none of their business. Its between Walmart and Great Wall Corporation. Stop worrying about this so much cows. Its written in stone. WallyWorld and HD-DVD FTW. Blu-ray soon to meet Brother Betamax in the great dustbin in the sky. Bank that...

Nobody said they were going to stop selling Blu-Ray; only that they were going to push HD-DVD hard.  one does not equal the other.

Why are people acting like Walmart is taking sides in the format war? They don't care about this internet dabble, they just want to get to the money:|

All of this is speculation. But I think that Walmart is just trying to make a cheap hi-def player, regardless of format. HD-DVD is cheaper, so it makes sense for Walmart. They still may sell Blu-Ray.
