If you check the page it's pretty clear they're just about to get GiantBomb.com up and running, forums and everything.

Jeff G, Alex Navarro, Ryan Davis, Brad Shoemaker, Vinny C, etc. are all working over there.... basically a large portion of Gamespot's "heyday" reviewing team.

Anyone planning on making the switch?

Ok dude...they aren't launching the site. They are launching the beta...and you had to signup for it to get in. MadExponent

I've already switched for the reviews, and maybe the foums once they're up if they actually have people on them.

And it is a beta, but no , you don't have to sign up. Probably a month-long beta.
