just seen this on gaff, pretty interesting stuff. seems to be a leaked presentation from 2010 about a few employees detailing a 5 year plan for x1. seems like they anticipated ps4 costing 399 and originally wanted x1 to cost 299. kinect glasses to release in 2015 apparently

check it out

'A couple of years ago, Microsoft's business plan for Xbox was leaked. It detailed what would be coming to Xbox Live, the 360, and the "720" now known as the Xbox One. Unfortunately the article was removed from every website by Microsoft.

I found it.

It details everything they've done and are going to do with Xbox through 2015. All of it has happened so far.

That means we get a Virtual Reality headset this year, and Xbox Live game streaming in 2015. It's all going as planned.

My mind is blown.

Microsoft has been putting Live on Phones and Tablets which was also detailed in the document. As was the 32mb eSRAM in the Xbox One.

Remember: This document was leaked in 2010!'

Quick thing about this presentation - this is not the pitch presentation for the Xbox One as we know it. As someone who has seen this years ago, I can tell you that this was the internal pitch presentation for the 'Yukon'; a next-gen console candidate that MS passed up. The pitch MS did build was the 'Durango', which is the Xbox One we now have. If you look at the architecture panels in the presentation, they straight up call it Yukon, and the specs are fundamentally different than what the Durango has.

Absolutely not. I dunno if you've noticed, but a lot has changed from 2010. Heck, a lot of what MS proposed the Xbox One should be and what we have currently has changed within the public view.

It's a pitch plan from 2010. TONS has changed since then. The box featured in this product roadmap and the one on store shelves isn't even the same.

The most I would get from this is what one hardware team at MS had in mind for what the Xbox One should be back in 2010, not much else.

Won't save the wreck that is Xbone though.

PS4 already won, MS's plans are in vain.

still pretty cool, it does confirm that they anticipated ps4 price and decided to go more expensive anyway thinking kinect will provide the added value to convince customers.

@ghostwarrior786: Actually, if you read the document, they anticipated launching at $299, not $499. They just thought the PS4 would be more expensive than them, based on historical assumption. The Yukon was a much different piece of hardware. It also had only 4gb of DDR4 RAM.

Like I said, all their plans were different.

yes but they changed the price knowing ps4 will cost around 399. they really wanted to expand on x360 all in 1 device marketing they had been doing ever since they released kinect. i expect their plans to be changed again now since mattrix is gone

@theshensolidus:

You are absolutely wrong Bklin from beyond that worked on SHAPE said that the YUKON and the DURANGO are the same project nothing is off sched but the price. I'm not saying the arch is the same but continued the same concept.

@Tighaman: I'm wrong? Okay - then according to this, VR glasses (Fortaleza) are coming from MS for the Xbox One THIS YEAR!

Someone in my position knows that just ain't true. However, you don't. So, on Dec. 31st 2014 and the glasses AREN'T out yet, could you just admit that MAYBE I know what i'm talking about?

@ghostwarrior786: I'd just say I have a close enough working relationship with them to know what they are planning on doing with the Xbox for the next 18 months, minimum.

Shit I'm not in the any position but I know they are not coming out this year its not insider talk or company knowledge this is common sense. They have to show more with the Kinect games before they hit us with a 200 dollar price tag for some glasses that you need the Kinect to use. Please if you a dev give me something just a little thing that I can't read on none of these sites not about a console per se maybe a game whats the new engines everyone is going to are we close to seeing real ray tracing come on tell me something?

@Tighaman: Okay, well you just said that bklin from Beyond said everything was still on track, that document states the glasses are coming this year - you're saying common sense tells you that they aren't coming this year. Therefore, how the hell could the guy you're stating be correct in saying all these plans are still on track?

You want a piece of insider information, yet you already called me into question. Anything I told you could be traced back to your 'common sense' logic. Like if I told you Nether Realm was working on a next-gen MK due to be released next year (they are). Or that GTA 5 PC+Next-gen should be arriving this fall (last I heard it is). Or that Beyond: Two Souls was getting a PS4 re-release sometime this year (it is).

What you want is some big, left field piece of insider info that would make you go "omg, I never thought of that!", but the truth is, if you follow this industry, chances are you already can deduce most of its going ons just from the 'smoke trails' most people who work in it put up.

@theshensolidus:

you know and I know that them are projected dates like I said using common sense so stop with the madness guy, and you haven't told me nothing in that last post that didn't come to mind MK we already knew one was coming before the launch of the new consoles GTA5 on PC and X1 and PS4 lol of course that was coming again common sense.

You said it the best if you follow the industry you easily put two and two together so can you stop with the YOU ARE A DEV SHIT because I can now make games on PROJECT SPARK TOO but I know I'm not a dev

@Tighaman: lol oh boy, nothing I said was said to prove i'm a dev, I said it to prove a point, which you then turned around and proved to me - all of those things can be deduced. You follow this industry, so it none of it will surprise you.

Not only am I a dev, my game just recently came out and people are loving it, so i'm pretty darn happy these days. If you want me to talk about development practices and tech, thats fine, but I won't be able to speak to any one particular game or project.

I hear you but @theshensolidus has a really good record of consistency on here. SW isn't beneath anyone really, several people on here do very well actually.

It's an X1/PC only title (the ones we made, anyway). And like I said in the past, when the game comes out, i'd say what the game was... although anyone who just read this should figure out what exactly it is ;)

Like I have said in the past, the SW forums are nostalgic for me. I came here when I was a youngin and hadn't even made the move to work in the games industry many years ago. Even though most of the topics and responses on here are eyeroll worthy, I do enjoy communicating with fans who are passionate about the consoles themselves and, most important to why I come on here these days, I like clearing up any false assumptions or misgivings about these boxes.

It's also fun to have healthy discussion every once in awhile.
