There is no possible way a logical thinking human being who even remotely follows this hobby can check ps3. Matter of fact I think ill keep notes on people who do for future reference of insanity.
edit... so far 6 have checked ps3 and none had the back bone to even post a reason why.

I did.
and your reason? cant possibly be a good one. remember the thread isnt asking what your favorite console is. I can understand difference of opinion on that front. its asking success. there is no possible way that the console that has brought down the sony empire in gaming can be considered a success on its own let alone against the 360 which has propelled MS into a legit contender.Like I said, up until a year ago I would have said the xbox. However, very recently Sony has been gaining a lot of respect back from gamers with their dedication towards putting their money where their mouth is--the games. There was certainly an initial letdown amongst early ps3 adoptors(I was not one of them--bought mine in '09). This let down came partially from a promise of extremely high quality games, which obviously never really happened until more recently.
So, a rocky start for the system, sure, but it was also handed the responsibility of being a pawn to win a format war--blu ray. In the end, bluray is the new format and will likely extend the life of the console. If you read the recent La Noire comparison done by eurogamer, they believe that the format my be more of a factor towards the latter of this gen. Production costs are lower in general, and more and more companies will be able to utilize this extra space to the fullest.
Also, so continues to release quality title amongst quality title. It seems there's a never ending stream of games to look forward too. People can call the Move a gimmick--to an extent I think it is too--but the fact of the matter is that based on wii sales, people want devices such as this. Couple that with a more open relationship with indie developers, and the Move is bound to get some rather unique psn titles down the line.
My problem with the 360 is the direction they are taking it. Sure Kinect has been successful, but I feel it is a one shot deal and will end up alienating the customers that initially adopted the xbox. There's almost no reason to own a 360 anymore. I'd like to buy a wii, but the amount of titles on the system I want somehow doesn't justify the cost. The same can be said about the 360, at least more recently. I believe that the way MS is handling the xbox--instant gratification--will harm them next gen. The overpriced "xbox 360" only branded HDD--and other peripherals such as the play-n-charge kit--are downright disrespectful business moves in consumer eyes, at least imo.
The ps3 will continue to be a great device and become the premier console to own. The bottom line is it offers more, and is a more robust system overall.
