Epic advertising = Epic sales. Nuff said.

indeed, even my mum likes the mercenaries advert. No joke.
ToV need moar steroids, big buff chainsaw aliens destroy planets fly away on debris.
JRPGs are just a bunch of emo wussies. That was last-generation. This is next-gen to max. Gears and Madden ownz all!!!
...I just thought I'd throw that out there.
people need to realize that gameplay, graphics, reviews DONT sell games, I repeat DONT sell games, sure times they do help but what makes games sell is HYPE. HYPE, BANDWAGON and MARKETING.
a game can be hyped to hell and back that you will be forced to buy it, just to see what the hype is all about.
let me ask you guys a question, have you ever bought a game and played it just a couple of times and never played it again, or you probably sold it, if you did, it means you fell for either one of the three.
Vesperia is out in Japan as well.Vesparia is only out in the US. JRPG's are a matter of taste, not a hardcore or casual option.

SE is going to come crawling back to Sony.-RenegadeMost likely they'll support all 3 brands. The most support still is going to Sony though.
SE is going to come crawling back to Sony.-Renegade
Square Enix? why?
FF13 is bound to sell a few million on 360 alone, automatically making them more confident in 360.
And if titles like Unidscovery, Star Ocean 4 dont make a profit, im sure MS wont hesitate to write Square a fat cheque to cover the costs.
Last Remnant seems like itll make a decent killing, since its during the holidays and what not.

Pro Street? One of the worst ever.
well actually it was for 2006 and it was carbon. But my point still stands :P

OMG. Is that a joke? SE is going to stay with MS for the rest of eternity.
Is that a joke?
o_o Tales came out Aug 26...5 whole days of sales in August.Mercenaries came out...Aug 31? One day of sales in August?killab2oo5
I know release date says 26th, but the game was actually in retail on the 27th all over the U.S.
Not a lot of stores carries ToV and game is somewhat limited like the way Tales of the Abyss was. Thats how it usually is with most non SE and Sony jrpg games.

Also take consideration some stores don't even sell the game places like Circuit City.

No it doesnt.
My dog can do that and it can ride a unicycle.
Crap games always sell well in the UK.
Best selling game last year was Need for Speed.

And the year before and the year before that as well, EA's yearly updates appealling to the Chav's and wannabe gangsters who also rush out and buy FIFA Street on name alone... so sad, but also a reason the PS3 sells so well in the UK, brand name ignorance.

SO it was no.3
Still the list overall is pretty despressing.
The top-selling game for 2006 was Electronic Arts' FIFA 07, followed by another football title, Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer 6, and racer Need for Speed Carbon at number three.
The other titles in the top 10 were Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories at four, Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy at five, The Sims 2: Pets at six, Cars at seven, Tomb Raider: Legend at eight, The Sims 2 at nine, and WWE SmackDown! vs. RAW 2007 at number 10.
And they don't in other countries ???Crap games always sell well in the UK.

True they're not all AAA's but they all got at least 7.0 from Gamespot, so I wouldn't really call the list crap. It is also a healthier than the Australian top selling games for example http://uk.gamespot.com/news/6166460.html
[QUOTE="insanejedi"]Mercs 2 is not crap, it'sjust buggyandunfinished. The core gameplay in it though is awesome. And Tales was only out for like 5 days in august. Marka1700
You just explaind what makes it crap.
Lots of great games are buggy and unfinished but still great. Elder Scrolls 2, 3 and 4, for example. Operation Flashpoint and Armed Assault. NWN1 out of the box. STALKER & Clear Sky. Titan Quest. Every MMO launch ever. Every Troika game (TOEE and VampireTM Bloodlines, I'm looking at you!) Even Too Human... I wouldn't say it's buggy and unfinished, more just that there are some amazingly bad design decisions in there, but you can still taste how close it was to greatness. The PC version of Mercs2 I would say is a special kind of suck (wtf no 16:10!? that's an ubisoft move!), but the console versions are still tons of fun.[QUOTE="nervmeister"]Epic advertising = Epic sales. Yeah. It was one of the best advertisements for a game I've ever seen.Sorry did you just call a JRPG a quality hardcore game? I think you mean average niche game.
Thank you come again.
Yes and carnival games on the Wii sold over 1.5 mill while No More heroes hasnt even sold 400 k.
You can find examples just like this on any platform.
Give Tales of Vespria some time though. It's not even a month old. Besides, most Tales games don't even sell over a 1 mill. By Tales standards Vesperia really hasnt done that bad. Especially considering it's on the 360. It's likely met NamcoBandai's Expectations, anyway.
