Microsoft Game Studios Honcho has been teasing one or more Japanese Xbox One exclusives for a while, and during the Game Developers Conference he gave some more information about it after Kris Graft’s fireside chat, as reported by Famitsu.

"I'm very excited about the announcement of the release window in Japan. An unique exclusive title for Xbox One is going to be released by an awesome Japanese studio."

It’s interesting that the term used to define the studio is “subarashī,” which is basically the highest praise you can express in Japanese. That definitely seems to indicate a major developer.

Spencer then continued by talking about what we can expect from Microsoft at Tokyo Game Show.

"I’m looking forward to go to Tokyo Game Show this year, and I want to show everyone something never seen before. Stay tuned!"

Waste of time but that's how PR works in hopes people are stupid and salivate and talk for days and build HYPE.

I hope it's a good game, but we'll see when we actually know what the f*** it is on the actual announcement day.

I'm glad we eye to eye on this. I would love to see a kick ass announcement as I'll reserve the game if it's something great and wait eagerly, but yeah, I hate when companies do these announcements of announcements and sometimes of another announcement. I know why they do it, but it feels like a huge waste of time since there is nothing really to consider. There is a lot of other real information out there I can digest and this isn't anything. I feel dirty just posting in this thread. I don't blame the topic creators of these types of threads, I obviously throw the blame at the feet of marketing and PR.

Eddie made a news article like this about Phil Spencer making a comment. The comment was pretty much meaningless. They need to stop doing crap like this.

Failed? It tripled what the original XBox sold. I wouldn't call that a failure. One of the things I really found funny was that games like Tales of Vesperia ended up selling more copies on the XBox 360 then it did when it finally got released on the PS3. There were several other JRPG's that ended up selling better worldwide on the 360. So yes, it didn't sell anywhere close to what the PS3 did, but it still made it's mark and improved in it's marketshares from the previous generation. M$ will still continue to release their systems in Japan, even though Japanese gamers don't care much for American game consoles.

I imagine this isn't about D4 then (which also looks amazing).

Pointless to put JP games on the Xbone. They'll only end fading into obscurity just like Lost Odyssey. Now look at Mistwalker, it's like they didn't exist. Currently making games people don't care about on mobile platforms.

I know Microsoft was putting a lot more energy into japan. They even have a new studio they constructed over there.

Not very specific. Buuut. Despite X1 being a disappointment hardware wise I'm still very much open to buy one if they release plenty of high quality exclusives for it.
