Xbone to PS4?

I've been a long time Xbox fan since Halo 2 days. So I stuck with the Xbox 360 and all the great games that come with it like Forza and Gears. But I have to admit, I'm disappointed with some of the features with the Xbox one. And I know MS is promising big changes, but it's not very convincing to me so far. The resolution thing is starting to bother me now that I see it in some of the multiplatform games out now. And now with the competitive scene switching over, which I'm a huge fan of, I'm starting to contemplate switching over. I still love the classic Xbox, but I'm. It impressed with Gears 4 and I have a weird feeling that Halo 5 won't live up to the hype, considering a lot of titles haven't lived up to their hype lately. So what do you guys think? Should I switch, or grind til Xbone gets better?

There isn't much on the PS4 that isn't on the Xbone.

The whole selection of high quality "next-gen" games on the two of them are available on both. And PC.

If you are looking for better exclusives, you might want to consider the Wii U or PC.

you are an XBOX fan, and thats all fine and great so why completely leave it behind?

Halo 5 might be great and you like Gears, so why not just enjoy your X1 as much as possible and also explore new possiblities with the PS4.... ?

P.S. The competitive scene? The console competitive scene? Why on Earth would anyone pay attention to that, it goes from pubbers like yourself to semi-professional players, there's no in between, no leagues, no ladders, nothing. If you're actually trying to get involved in competitive gaming you need to be using a PC, it's a joke everywhere else.

Because what if you dont like it? everyone is different. SURE you might be seeing and hearing alot of things out there about the PS4 being better, but that is not the case for every individual. There are always exceptions. You might not like the games on PS4 no matter how great they may be. I dont like Halo Gears Forza, but Im aware that they are considered great games. You cant blame me for that. Just not what Im into.

Just hop on over to PC and enjoy life. Leave all your worries behind, with the amount of money youll save on games, you can then buy yourself a few extra consoles down the road.

And they are two of the most similar console platforms in the history of gaming, and aren't both worth owning concurrently unless you really, really, REALLY like their scant exclusive offerings. For all intents and purposes, they are multiplat gaming stations.

It's all a out exclusives. And if you think 900p to 1080p is a big deal, you should see 1080p to 1440p. If resolution means that much, you are looking in the wrong place.

If a difference in resolution matters to you much you would be far better off getting a gaming PC, they really aren't too expensive.

The difference between 1080p and 900p is bigger than the difference between 900p and 720p. Anyone that can't see the difference is either blind or a wild lemming.

Why did it make you chuckle? You're both bullshitters, 900p with upscaling measures on a modern television viewed from a proper distance provides a mostly negligible experience to what a game functioning at native 1080p can provide. You don't have special eyes, you don't have Eagle vision, it's a massive diminished return especially with all the post console games have which distort the image, blur it and diminish its clarity.

This isn't a raw 1600x900 image simply being stretched out like you would run into on PC if you just lowered your resolution, it's being reprocessed which cleans it up considerably...

The only reason to get an Xbone is for its rehashed franchises. So if you don't care about them anymore, you may as well switch.

Go PlayStation and you'll never look back. You'll actually regret ever choosing Xbox in the first place like I did.

@quadknight: true, but PC gaming can do 4k and if you care about the resolution difference between consoles there really isn't a reason to waste your money on a console.

Just save up, you still like the X1 exclusives, the PS4 isn't going anywhere while you save up your money.

if you care about resolution that much switch over to pc you'll be able to play most games at 1080p 60fps or higher for a reasonable amount of money, considering pc games are much cheaper and online is free. pc is also backwards compatible unlike the ps4 (ps now is a ripoff). the PC & A/V Hardware Forums will help you build a pc if your interested.

Don't fall in the resolution trap.It's a big lie.You won't spot a big difference especially in action.Don't make the same mistake that I made.I switched from xbox to ps4 and after 2 months I sold it and got a new xbox one.It's all about exclusives not resolutions and specs.

If TC has a desktop already a 750 ti could give him comparable performance to ps4 or better for around $100, or a PSU and gtx 970 would be less than a ps4 as well I was mostly not serious, I'm just saying resolution is not a good case for ps4.

Same here but it's only because of the recent Gears. I usually don't turn on my Xbox because I ignore multiplats on it and there haven't been an exclusive all year long.

My PS4 will probably be fuming like a steam train when it gets new exclusives. No Man's Sky, Horizon. Not a big fan of games like Uncharted so it and Tomb Raider I find unappealing.

Yeah these guys couldn't even tell the difference most of the time between 900p and 1080p and they work for gamespot which probably makes them bias to begin with.

I assume you already have a Xbox One and a great library. Keep it. Just buy the PS4 and play exclusives on it. there is also more to Xbox than Gears and Halo. Quantum Break looks amazing. Tomb Raider is going to be great. Crackdown 3 looks stellar. and Scalebound should be awesome too.

Video game consoles are an investment. Back out now and put it down as a loss. Hold onto you investment and it will continue to pay off (it already has imo). But a system is only worth the games you are playing on it. You really want to swap out one box for another $400 box just to watch Netflix? Play the games you have and the great exclusives for the Xbox. Buy the PS4 later for its awesome exclusives. Or now, if you have the cash.

Sony fanboys will tell you "yes, switch." Xbox fanboys will tell you, "no, dont get the PS4" As an owner of both, do not "switch." You dont need to sacrifice one to enjoy the other.

Make the switch. PS4 is the best. You can always buy an xbone 5 years from now for $50-100 to play the 10 forza/halo/gears games you missed out on.

I think increased framerate is a heck of a lot easier to spot than resolution ... up to a point anyway. 60 fps is all you need, any higher is getting silly. The resolution thing really is overblown, not because it doesn't matter but because after ya get past 720p returns start diminishing hugely. 1080p is absolutely fine for gaming. The 4K craze is just plain stupid. I see advantages to it with film but for games it's dumb. Imagine the kind of art modern, top of the line graphics cards could draw if they were pushed at 1080p rather than squandering away their abilities with pointless 4K rendering. Really the only practical use for 4k in gaming is VR.

With that being said I do complain a lot about the lack of power of both of the consoles. But that isn't because I want them to display at 4k or stupidly crazy framerates like 120. 1080p/60 with high quality art is perfect for games and these consoles don't have the juice to deliver it consistently ... but they could/should have. At 2.5 tflops with appropriate CPUs they'd be in a much better position to deliver it than what they are, and those specs were deliverable in late 2013.
