wrong.... 360s hd is only for 360... sony put cheap hds in ps3 so the game systems has to install games so you can get more out of your 360 hd while on ps3 you have to waste room on ps3 game installs. 250 gig 360 hd wil last alot longer then the 750 hd. if you own or rent alot of games.

That's not why you have to install games. You have to install PS3 games because of how slow Blu-ray is.

ok so here is how economics relating to psychology works.

if somebody finds value in something they pay for it.

if someones see no value insomething they don't pay for it.

now all you have to do look at how well something is selling to see if people are finding value ina product or if you have a future as that grumpy old dude that judges what other people do and have a bright future in stomping on flaming bags of poo of your front porch.

"250 gig 360 hd wil last alot longer then the 750 hd" How does that make any sense? You have a extra 500gb, hell that's more than most people have in their computers. You make it sound like ALL games need to install like 10gb or something :|

*facepalm* jesus dude check up facts before making statements like that... PS3 HDDs are only as cheap as you buy them. I can buy a custom built gold plated 500 GB HDD that costs 2,5 million for the PS3, because it uses standard Laptop HDD format (2,5" SATA)

More importantly, you can get a much more reasonably sized PS3 HDD for very cheap. (E.g 500gb for £40)

I do not blame them one bit for making as much money as they possible can out of the 360. Sure it sucks but it makes 100% sense.

This is also the reason i'm PC gamer.

Technicaly it can be, you can have a 750 GB 15000 RPM HDD or a 750 GB 1200 RPM HDD, and there are differant buffer sizes etc.

wrong. uncharted 1 and 2 both use a comprehensive cache of atleast 2 gigs large, which is why you have 30 second to 1 minute load time when you start up the game, this load time does not stop, it continues till that cache is filled, it then pulls data from the disc and the hdd to do no load times. Without a hard drive even in general no game would play on the ps3, the ps3 would refuse to do anything but games like uncharted 1 and 2 would never be able to play without a hard drive because they are made specifically to play with the hard drive.

People are comparing this feature? Even the most die hard MS fanboy would admit that it would be nice to have the ability to buy off-the-shelf HDDs and use them in the 360.

It's a no brainer that PS3 hd's are going to be cheap as you don't buy proprietary hd's. The only thing I can not understand is why the heck does someone need 750 gb let alone 250 gb? Maybe I can't relate because I have a PC that I use for media, but I guess I'm craxy for using my gaming systems for games?

At least ALL PS3's come with a HDD. Problem solved. Unlike the HDD-stripped versions of 360's that financially pitfalled many customers into buying overpriced, godaweful propiatary HDD's that can't be used for anything else.

Ok, but Microsoft wouldn't sell it for that much if people didn't buy it for that much. So it is a good marketing strategy, because they are making money.

That's like a scam dude. They do it because theres no alternative. Just like with xbox Live. It's not like we can say "I'll just buy it somehwere else" You can't. They force you to either pay their price tag or not have it. THat's very greedy and monopolistic. It is evil.

PS3 games install due to limits with the Blu-Ray drive having 2x read speeds. Why would they intentionally install games to the HDD if they were "cheap" and as seems to be insinuated in your post, the reason for installs?

You can't just judge a company on whether it's making a profit or not. They'll judge themselves from that point of view, as consumers it's our job to look at it from ours.

When I was younger, I loved having the largest ipod just so I could have all my music with me at all times. I know people that 200gigs of music on their ps3, in addition to downloaded psn games and ps1 classics. It is a nice feature, no doubt. Personally I don't even take advantage of the 120gig in mine.

is the average customer going to user the HDD from the console to use it for their pc though? and their propbably are fine with the HDD the console comes with. Also,Im pretty sure there's an HDD within the older 360's HDD. And like I said in page 1, the slim probably has a removeable HDD which can be replace with a bigger one. I'll let you know when I get my hands on one.

No, but we're allowed to call it when we see certain methods of making profit as pathetic. Hey...we can sell you can a can of coke for 50. Need a ring pull with that? - that'll be 25. Oh, you want it cold too?....that'll be 15 more(live). Yup, pathetic.Kan0nF0dder

It is evil.

no its business. you just happen to think its evil. these are luxury items, not necessities, and there are other options to the consumer. the greatest protest a person has is their wallet. its fine if you want to continue your whole anti-360 agenda, but know some people willingly bought systems, and aren't as outraged as you make it seem.

[QUOTE="thecreechxxx"]I The only thing I can not understand is why the heck does someone need 750 gb let alone 250 gb? Heirren

Why put 200GBs worth of music on a ps3 when you cant even listen to tracks in game?

You can't just judge a company on whether it's making a profit or not. They'll judge themselves from that point of view, as consumers it's our job to look at it from ours.

and as consumers, we hold the ultimate power. particularly when its an item used for entertainment, and not a necessity.

Because playing music in game isn't the only reason to have music on your PS3? Not to mention there are games that do support custom soundtracks, hell I listen to my music while I play Midnight Club LA.

Isn't this a moot point anyway? Wasn't there an dashboard update that let you use any USB drive?

See, I wasn't even aware that I couldn't do that. I guess that is a bonus in favor of the 360. However, with the way games are these days, I think I'd prefer the game audio anyways--as it is part of the experience. But to your question, the ps3 is marketed as a device that does everything, and it really just about does. It gives you the latest games, various download services, internet, the latest in high tech a/v, netflix, and the ability to store your entire music(and even video) collection all in one place. That's a pretty nice box, imo.
