That's not why you have to install games. You have to install PS3 games because of how slow Blu-ray is.

Hardy any games have installs anymore... And you have games without installs and no loading times like Uncharted.ok so here is how economics relating to psychology works.
if somebody finds value in something they pay for it.
if someones see no value insomething they don't pay for it.
now all you have to do look at how well something is selling to see if people are finding value ina product or if you have a future as that grumpy old dude that judges what other people do and have a bright future in stomping on flaming bags of poo of your front porch.

Hardy any games have installs anymore... And you have games without installs and no loading times like Uncharted. wrong. uncharted 1 and 2 both use a comprehensive cache of atleast 2 gigs large, which is why you have 30 second to 1 minute load time when you start up the game, this load time does not stop, it continues till that cache is filled, it then pulls data from the disc and the hdd to do no load times. Without a hard drive even in general no game would play on the ps3, the ps3 would refuse to do anything but games like uncharted 1 and 2 would never be able to play without a hard drive because they are made specifically to play with the hard drive.People are comparing this feature? Even the most die hard MS fanboy would admit that it would be nice to have the ability to buy off-the-shelf HDDs and use them in the 360.

PS3 games install due to limits with the Blu-Ray drive having 2x read speeds. Why would they intentionally install games to the HDD if they were "cheap" and as seems to be insinuated in your post, the reason for installs?

When I was younger, I loved having the largest ipod just so I could have all my music with me at all times. is the average customer going to user the HDD from the console to use it for their pc though? and their propbably are fine with the HDD the console comes with. Also,Im pretty sure there's an HDD within the older 360's HDD. And like I said in page 1, the slim probably has a removeable HDD which can be replace with a bigger one. I'll let you know when I get my hands on one.

Why put 200GBs worth of music on a ps3 when you cant even listen to tracks in game?See, I wasn't even aware that I couldn't do that. I guess that is a bonus in favor of the 360. However, with the way games are these days, I think I'd prefer the game audio anyways--as it is part of the experience. But to your question, the ps3 is marketed as a device that does everything, and it really just about does. It gives you the latest games, various download services, internet, the latest in high tech a/v, netflix, and the ability to store your entire music(and even video) collection all in one place. That's a pretty nice box, imo.
