What if I want to connect an digital optical cord from the xbox to my sound system. Can I do that on the xbox360 with an HDMI cable?neversummer75Run the the HDMI cord to the tv, and then use your optical out on your tv to the stereo, That way the stereo will work with whatever input your using on your tv.
get the elite, the new update lets you download to hard drive and play games of them, the people in this thread are not taking that into account

If I did that would i lose any sound quality?

Indeed, this man speaks the truth, and they run much quiter/no mid-game crashes when disc screws up. And since each install is 4-6GB a pop, it stacks quick. With XBLA and XB Originals, I seriously reccomend the Elite. But whatever, buy whatever you think is more on par with what you're going to be doing.
