Xbox 360 exclusives vs. PS3 exclusives (hint - 360 wins)

I keep hearing that the PS3 has a lot more real exclusives than the 360 (that console exclusives don't count), so I decided to find out if that was true or not. Below is a list of the Xbox 360 exclusives listed on Metacritic compared to PS3 exclusives in a AAA, AA, A format. I have excluded HD ports/remakes, Console exclusives, next gen exclusives, shared Wii games, DLC games, and Kinect/Move only games. Pure exclusive showdown.

If you are not familiar with Metacritic, it is a website that gathers the averages of multiple websites to give one average score of a game. AAA means that the game is rated at a 90-99 average, AA means that a game is rated at an 80-89 average, A means that a game is rated at a 70-79 average. A perfect 100 would be AAAA, but no such game exists as of now.

* - listed as multiplat on Metacritic and Gamerankings As you can see the Xbox 360 beats the Playstation 3 42-36 in exclusives rated at least a 70 and up on metacritic, unless of course I have missed some games. (which I don't think I did) Does this change your opinion on the exclusive line ups? Does this disturb or satisfy you? Am I delusional? Discuss.

The fact that they're so close in terms of total exclusives each, means that it's silly to debate it. Just go with a library you prefer.

I knew Xbox 360 would be ahead (apart from the title of course) because its been out a couple of years more. I was actually suprised the gap is so small...

360 has MANY more good exclusives while PS3 has a few more AMAZING exclusives. I will take the amazing ones thank you.

How about the fact the PS3 somehow is at 17 AAE games vs. 14 AAE games on 360?

The 360 is leading in the A games, but it's a pretty close race. So my question would be for you to consider that the 360 had a sizable lead, a full year.

How did the PS3 manage this feat? Makes you wonder, huh?

Also, when looking at AAAE Metacritic games, notice the diversity of genre and games :

Xbox 360 AAA (5) - Halo 3, Halo Reach, Gears of War 2, Forza Motorsport 2, Forza Motorsport 3

Playstation 3 AAA (5) - Uncharted 2, Metal Gear Solid 4, God of War III, Killzone 2, Little Big Planet*

If you love Halo and Forza (including GeoW shooters and sim racers), you are set for 360. On PS3, there seems to be more diversity. Which could be bad again, if you want more of the same genre's I suppose. Just an observation, not positive nor negative, just something else to examine.

but it's interesting to see how people fall back on other terms to try to get an advantage. guess we should throw some more wrenches in and just count all of the games the 360 has that the PS3 doesn't.

instead we'll just keep debating subjectivity(nothing wrong with that, but some people would be overjoyed if their opinions were facts) because objectivity doesn't let those people around here have their way. I'm SURE all of these MC/GS lists will start popping up left and right when the PS3 finally ties and then passes 360 next year. relevance restored!

I DO NOT own a 360 or a PS3 I own a Wii and a PS2 before that so here goes my answer. On that list xbox 360 wins with its games over PS3 games but I see more games on PS3 coming soon. Its really a dead issue for xbox360 owners to keep bringing it up because the PS3 will be getting ff13 versus and a little game called KINGDOM HEARTS 3 then it will have better exclusives. Only thing that keeps 360 alive is Halo but Halo well its the best game for any system but that pay to play online to enjoy the full experience of a game is a negative. In the end my vote goes to PS3 enjoy.

So according to your list the PS3 has more AAAEs, since you conveniently left off MLB '10 The Show which was long ago deemed different enough from the PS2 version to be called an exclusive, more AAEs, and the only category it loses in is AEs which have pretty much no ground in System Wars.

No looks like the PS3 is still winning. If we counted up exclusives vs. exclusives for all platforms though the Wii would absolutely demolish both the HD consoles, so it's best to avoid that argument if you're trying to defend one of them.

Yep, and I prefer quality over quantity, as well as diversity over shooters and racers. PS3 is going to take 1st place inarguably after next year anyway. It has tons of awesome exclusives lined up.
