so this is probably old by now...but if you haven't seen it...looks like 360 might be getting blu-ray after all and not wait for a next gen xbox to come out

it says blu-ray would be added via accessories...aka just how HD-DVD was added

so i wonder...if they decided to do this, maybe they would "officially" announce and release it around FFXIII's release date...then they could release a blu-ray version as well for those o'so lazy people who can't change discs anymore

also maybe hideo kojima would then think about MGS4 on the 360? and MGS: rising wouldn't have to sacrifice anything in terms of graphics so fanboys couldn't say "rising is gonna suck because 360 is gonna hold it back cause of no blu-ray"

idk...just a thought i guess...what do you guys think?

one more thing....would this mean that the 360 would have to release two versions of all multi-disc games? i mean you can't really release it ONLY on blu-ray because blu-ray isn't a standard for 360 and would only be an add-on..right?

It'll just be for movies I'd say. Trying to implement it with 360 games at this late stage would create way too many problems.

This is all speculation of course, but as an OWNER of TWO 360 HD-DVD addon's, I'm sure it will be for movies only.

Too expensive any other way, not to mention devs don't have BLu-Ray kits for 360, and it's too far into the lifecycle.

eh...i don't really see why they at least wouldn't offer a few versions of games for it

that's why i thought of FFXIII, since it'll have multiple discs and all

Highly unlikely that this will be used for games. The adoption rate for this add-on is unclear and when you consider only a small portion of 360 users will buy it, and only a small portion of THAT will buy games for it (especially when they can get it on DVD anyway - FF13). I suspect this will be for movie viewing only. Which makes me further wonder what the price would be. I doubt it will all that competitive with superior stand alone players that are already down to $200. And the BEST BR player on the market is still the PS3 which only costs $299.

Frankly, unless there are some 360 fans out there desperate to watch BR movies, but don't already have a BR player...I'm not sure this is going to do very well.

just a thought i guess

FF13 wouldnt sell well because not every 360 owner is going to go out and buy a 150 dollar add on to play one games.

If true, it will be released for movies only...and cost wise won't be favor the 360 (people would compare to ps3's price) and if they do this for gaiming, it will be a major blow to 360 owners, and I doubt devs would make two versions of the same game Disc Swaping is not a problem at all

RadecSupreme

that's why i said TWO versions, so for those who DO get it at least have a choice to play it on the blu-ray player

of course blu-ray versions wouldn't be produced as much as the regular versions would

It's too late to use it for games. 3 or 4 disc games aren't gonna go away till next gen for Xbox.

This doesnt make sense at all. MGS being on the 360 has absolutely nothing to do with blu-ray. The same goes for graphics limitations. Also, if MS did put out a blu-ray drive (i still highly doubt it), it would be used soley for movies. This is a fact. . . As for multi-disk gaming: Im playing Lost Odyssey right now (4 disks). There are some problems with the game, but NONE of them are that I have to get up after 10 hours of game to change a disk.

That would then make the Blu-Ray Drive compulsory and expensive at that. Seeing as the HD Drive was originally retailed at £120-$150.
