Saying 360 only has Fable 2 up its sleeve is like saying the only game worth playing on the PS3 is Uncharted. Theres a lot more games, and better ones at that.

How is there no doubt about it? The 360 is 6 million ahead of the PS3. I'm not sure how that is guaranteed 2nd place for the PS3.
Yes they did have a year head start. That does not change the fact that the PS3 is 6 million behind the 360.
if you do the math, you would know by the middle of 2009 it will be very close. you would think the 360 would be up alot more then 6million, by the end of 2008, that will be cut in half.and once again...this is assuming 360 will stop selling all together
no lol, the fact is ps3 is selling more on a monthly basis. will be even at 24mil.It outselling in average of 20-30 k/week, so, at that rate, it will need 3 years just to catch the 360.
oh really, then explain how the numbers are so close and how it happen so fast? it didnt take 3 years..[QUOTE="IronBass"][QUOTE="bam706"][QUOTE="lawlessx"][QUOTE="bam706"][QUOTE="JakeTD21"][QUOTE="bam706"][QUOTE="JakeTD21"][QUOTE="XenogearsMaster"]bam706

oh really, then explain how the numbers are so close and how it happen so fast? it didnt take 3 years..They are called "jumps". Sony made a big jump with the first price cut. MGS4 also jumped PS3 sales alittle. If you check the sales of both systems the last 6 months, you'll see how close they are. Ok, maybe it won't need 3 years, but at least 2.

This week's price cuts are too little too late to save the Xbox 360, says Nathan Taylor. The 360 glory days may be over, with only Fable 2 up its sleeve and Blu-Ray scoring wins for the PS3.
Microsoft has a lot to worry about these days. It's frustrated by it's inability to crack Google, or buy anybody else who might; people are hating Vista, and the life of Windows XP keeps getting extended; it's actually having to compete with Linux on the desktop, and now on the mobile as well; and it's console, once the market leader, seems to be slowly fading away.
Its latest announcement is clearly designed to stave off the latter. It may be too little too late, but Microsoft just announced a new round of price cuts for the Xbox 360, making the cheapest version of the console, the hard disk-less Arcade, $50 cheaper than the Wii.
It's now just $349, half the price of the PlayStation 3, and some retailers are selling it for considerably less than that. The 20GB version of the Xbox 360 has also been cut, from $579 to $499 and the 120GB Elite has dropped from $729 to $649. I don't think it will be enough to save the Xbox 360.
It's funny how this generation of game consoles panned out. Most analysts had figured that the PlayStation 3 would sell the most, followed by the Xbox 360, with the Nintendo Wii trailing up the rear. Turns out the opposite of that happened.
The Wii continues to dominate sales, the Xbox 360 has killed the PS3 in terms of market share (so far) and the PS3 proved too expensive for most buyers, especially before Blu-ray had officially won the format war. Of course, now that Blu-ray has won, and the PS3 remains the best and most affordable Blu-ray player on the market, sales of the PS3 are really starting to take off.
Now the Xbox 360 has a strong established user base and a very high attach rate compared to the other consoles (the attach rate is the number of games sold per console), but it's struggling to maintain momentum, especially after it expended its big gun: Halo 3. It has Fable 2 coming out later this year, which should give it a boost, but apart from that the console has very little steam left.
I imagine that the Microsoft brain's trust is already thinking about upping the announcement date of the next version of the Xbox 360.
They're also probably thinking that their relentless focus on one-upping Sony with meaningless processor performance numbers was a mistake. Nintendo got in under that radar because it made gaming fun, and you can bet dollars to donuts that the next Xbox version will have a motion sensing controller and a host of family-friendly games, not just first person shooters.
Microsoft might also think about making more of Xbox Live, which has tremendous potential, but has been sadly left to lie fallow, especially in Australia and other non-US territories. In short, it's going to have to kick ass to make an impact on the next generation, and saying that the console has more power than a supercomputer just isn't going to cut it.http://www.pcauthority.com.au/BlogEntry/115753,the-xbox-360-glory-days-are-over.aspx

I agree 360 is losing some steam and will likely end up in third but this is a horrible article. I'll look elsewhere for my misinformation.
Fable 2 is supposed to be the new Halo 3? Yeah right. I have heard lots of people were not that happy with the first fable game so I can't see how so many people believe all the hype with it. Also, as for the price cut $50 aint nothin. MS is gonna have to do more than that me personally I think it should be a $100 price cut and cut the price of live in half or make that free along with the $100 price cut on the console if you want some type of change because I don't think $50 price cut alone on the console is even close to what needs to be done to convince buyers to buy the 360.odin2019
Still cheaper than PS3. :) And has a better game selection to boot.

Yeah its cheaper than the ps3 but as for the game selection there isn't much a difference but come fall ps3 should have some more variety to it than whats out now. Even if I owned a 360 instead of ps3 I doubt my game collection would be that much bigger. Anyway a $50 price cut isn't going to get the job done. I almost kind of think its a bad move on MS's part to just cut the price by $50 because its like some type of weakness saying to the competiton, "We can't lower the price on this too much more". Where in the past they didn't think twice about dropping the price $100.

And it should be cheaper, look at its hardware vs PS3 there is no comparison. The XBox is way overpriced now and you still have to pay to play online.

So let me get this right.....the wii is $250 and xbox 360 doesn't want to drop the price below $250 since the wii is at $250. Even though MS continues to charge for online play.
What I can't figure out is why MS doesn't mess with the live price or cut the console down even further? I can't quite put my finger on whats going on because I know if they don't cut the console price even further or change the live price now odds are it will stay this way for at least another year till this time next year. This seems to become the annual time of year for those MS price drops. Its marked on my calender.
if you look at it in terms of what the consoles where expected to achieve the PS3 has vastly underperformed, it was selling to a userbase of over 100million customers with a worldwide regognised and loved brand. Sony have made several bad choices which has let the xbox catch up on it.
The 360 is the successor to a console which A) made very little profit and B) had a very small userbase, and has ended up this gen snappiing at the heels of the Ps3, which was miles out of it last gen,in which sony took for granted they would achieve that level of success again. Also its made microsoft a fair ammount of money, which means it to me has done very well ( despite some horrific flaws e.g failure rate).
Gears of War 2 is a figment of your imagination."This week's price cuts are too little too late to save the Xbox 360, says Nathan Taylor. The 360 glory days may be over, with only Fable 2 up its sleeve and Blu-Ray scoring wins for the PS3"

The funny thing is people actually think that means something. When you launch your console and it does not sell well right off the bat and take a price cut in its first year of course you will sell a lot of units. It is simple common sense. Sony had to take a price cut in order to keep up with its competition. Do you think they wanted to be $3 billion in the hole? It was either lose money on the console or lose the race to Msoft and Ninty. Sony is still losing to Ninty and Msoft by the way, for some reason Sony fan seems to forget this.
Sony went from the overwhelming favorite last gen to dead last. This type of failure is what intellectuals write case studies about years down the road. Sony better pray they out sell Msoft in 08 otherwise it is going to be a very long road for them.
Joke? Or serious?

This discredits his entire article, no need for discussion. Gears of war 2 says hi.
First off, who is this tool? Secondly, why should anyone care what some no name says about the console war? As far as I'm concerned, he's a Sony paid lobbiest who knows that the 360's sales are going to spike due to the price cut and Sony's scared that they won't be catching up as fast. Truth is that the 360's receiving the most 3rd party support as of right now and it'll continue to grow with time. Especially with the boost in sales the 360 will get from the up coming price cut.
All I can say is move along people, this guy is a joke and a sony fanboy who's ticked off that MS will be getting a bigger market share soon.
