[QUOTE="ceruxx"][QUOTE="hyperboy152000"][QUOTE="ceruxx"]So basically, the XBOX360 has a far more powerful GPU than the PS3. This is purely made with gaming in mind.
The PS3 was made with multiple functions in mind and has a far less powerful GPU. But it's cell, which is difficult to program for, is used in tandem with the GPU to produce better graphical output ... but its potential application is questionable due to the fact that the cell isn't really made with gaming in mind. But the cell can perform more non-graphics functions because of its high power?
... Right? Thats what I got from reading the thread.

while it may be true, it takes ALOT more time to develop code to work with the cell in tandum with the RSX to match/surpass the 360's gpu alone, so while it can be done, it cant be done easily or quickly
Yes, thats exactly what I thought. So basically, the PS3 has the potential, but its not yet worked out.
I read somewhere that developers just released some of their code for the PS3 online to help other developers, somewhere in system wars this was mentioned.
yea its playstation edge, but even then that may not help those who have a dead line and already have their own code to work with, plus the "potential" the ps3 may have may never be realised in any practical mannorin terms of games this generation
Just like the sega saturn. I'm finding a lot of parallels between the saturn vs. playstation race this console generation. It may not have been in America, but it was pretty close in Japan.
