you act as if japan is the market MS needs to have if they want to win. last time i checked MS has outsold Sony every month since the ps3 released in NA. and the ps3 just released in the UK and sales are already tanking. japan isnt going to save sony this time around because of a couple of reasons.

1. japan has the lowest amount of people who buy games out of major markets. so winning japan isnt important anymore when it comes to sales numbers.

2. Nintendo owns japan.

Enjoy Motorstorm on PS3, and a Gamecube port on your updated gamecube. Lemmings are playing real games such as Rainbow six Vegas, Gears of war, Forza 2, C&C3.

PS3 and Wii have no games worth playing NOW, there consoles are collecting dust., If I was a cow or sheep I would leave this place for about six months until they have a chance of getting a AAA game.

Here we go again.  I've scanned all of these responses and there has yet to be anyone that talks about the attach rate of the 360.  It is up in the high 7's and growing.  This is unheard of for a console at its point in its lifecycle.  It is almost double that of the Wii and more than double that of the PS3.  We all know that the gaming companies make the bulk of their money on game sales (thus, why would MS and Sony sell the 360 and PS3 at a loss per console?).  Given THIS, the Wii must outsell the 360 at a 2-to-1 clip and the PS3 must outsell the 360 at about a 2.5-to-1 clip.  Aint gonna happen.

The 360 is the perfect fit for the hardcore gamer (price point, HD graphics, Live, etc.).  This is reflected in the high attach rate.  Hardcore gamers buy lots more games than casual gamers (by definition).  At this point, MS is destroying the PS3 and Wii when it comes to games sales and will continue to do so with the likes of Mass Effect, Halo 3, and other games coming out in 2007 and beyond.

Stop focusing on strict console sales and start looking at the attach rate that goes with each of these consoles sold.  That is where the money is at.  That is what determines who wins and who loses.

Do I really need to counter his post with a list of PS3 games coming out? I'm sure he can find 15 of those threads on his own, and I'm not polluting GS with more of them.  

I can't help but laugh at how narrow-minded fanboys can be, and that the pinnacle of their whole console experience will be coming on to GS to laugh at people they will never meet about their consoles games getting higher scores than the other guys, rather than playing the games they're hyping.

You won't even get to play those monster games like Halo 3, Bioshock (not an exclusive, KEK), Mass Effect or Lost Odyssey because you'll be too busy typing up a storm on here to quell your feelings of inadequacy by "owning" people with arbitrary numbers.

Why don't YOU get out of your little fantasy world that suggest PS3 has even ONE worthy game other than Drake this year, that is IF that game indeed releases in 2007 !!!!!

And trust me, i WILL be playing those games, like i have played Oblivion+Shivering Isles for more than 280 hours now, you just enjoy ... Lair for 10 hours, and HS for less this year, what a lineup indeed !!!

What I find ironic is that he is a Playstation fanboy, and he is bringing up hardware stability. Does he not remember the PS2 DREs? He either has memory loss, has just woken up from a coma that he was in since 2001, or he just started gaming this generation.

This is going to be sound a bit brutal but I think it's the truth and we'll find out later on whether or not I'm right but I'll still say Halo 3 is probably the only game that will really push system sales (I'll say GTAIV too but they're both coming out at the same time). The rest won't do anything major.

I can't say the same for Wii or PS3 games. I think Wii sales will continue to improve when Wii music/health pack etc are out. I think PS3 sales will jump very high with Killzone (yeah), Final Fantasy XIII, MGSIV, GT5, and GTAIV.

Those are my predictions though and while I pretty sure I'm going to be right there is always the chance that I won't be.

Agreed the majority of the 360 games listed above are probably completely foreign to the general mainstream population...so I really do not think those are going to push systems except for Halo, Halo Wars (maybe since it is a Halo title), Splinter Cell, Banjo (maybe if the public still remembers that game), and the Bioware titles...the majority of them are gonna be like "Alan who?" or "Blue Dragon looks like teh kiddy DBZ game" *I myself am DYING to play Blue Dragon*...etc.

NOTE: I do not think the above games are lame-far from it but far too commonly great games get ignored by the general public if it isnt a big name title...such as the tragic Okami....once a bunch of these are out on 360, alongside an Elite price drop with new CPU-im rejoining the 360 bandwagon...til then im playing my PS3 and Wii and whatever else---hell I got my oldschool stuff to hold me over...ive been playing my recently acquired Sega Saturn like a fiend lol

Well MS itself only expects to  sell about 12 million by June...rather SHIP 12 million by June...so i think 10-11 million units sold right now is about right. I personally think the Wii will  surpass the 360 by the end of summer. I'm growing more and more unsure about the PS3...I'm trying to stay optimistic....but man....something BIG has to go down in Sonyland soon...

And if i could just jump into the whol 360 games arguement...as of now the 360 has little to no casual appeal...and its upcoming releases just makes me sigh...you can argue that casual games are crap and games like Halo and Mass Effect will own or whatever...but i think alot of people are getting depressed by all these adult...gloomy...games...I'd love to see some big bright cuddly  colorful happy simple game come out on the 360...Viva Pinata just ain't cuttin' it...

Fable 1 on xbox was a unknown title, sold 2.6 MILLION !!!

Kotor 1 was an unknown title, so 1.5+ million

Halo 1 was unknown before became one the best selling game of all times

Morrowind was an unknown game, sold 1+ million

And generally speaking all games are unknwon before they become known, so hw do you know that Bioshock gettting 10/10 in scores, would not make a host of people buy a 360 for it ? Same with Mass Effect, Fable 2, Alan Wake, Lost Odyssey etc etc etc
