It's pretty simple logic really, if you own 3 systems, the best choice is PC + PS3 + Wii. Or you can just buy 1 Xbox 360 instead.

Three systems each offers their own unique offerings, PC is best for competitive multiplayer/Socializing, PS3 for cinematic console experience, and Wii is good for casual fun and charming Nintendo titles. The 360 does all pretty much equal to all 3 systems so just by it instead.

And of course PC + PS3 also happens to be the best combination if you have 2 systems. But just an Xbox 360 is the better and cheaper alternative.

So xbox is the worst platform to own unless you can't afford more than one systems. This means if you're only buying 1 system, it's the best choice.

A low budget gamer who can only afford one console, will probably not choose or be able to afford a $2,000 PC.

But yes, if you have the money it's wonderful.

A PC is £500 at most

And the games are cheaper so you will make for it quite quickly

As long as you don't mind having to pay hundreds of dollars upgrading your PC every year or so, then sure.

...

Alright, back to the topic. You are wrong. 360 isn't cheaper, especially if you take into account the fact that XBL Gold+360 Slim is pricier than the PS3. Unless you don't care about multiplayer, which you DO. Ha!

$500 pc is easily more powerful than a console. Hell my $450 pc from 2008 was easily more powerful than the console, and the only upgrade i got for it was free.

90% of multiplats are inferior to the 360 version, sometimes horrible like Bayonetta.

Mass Effect 1 and 2 as well as any non exclusive 360/PC games are not available on the PS3.

Kinect is a lot better than the Wi-mote ripoff Move.

Xbox Live may cost $50 a year but it's much better than PSN.

360 is also a cheaper console. Yea you can buy the $300 slim but you can also buy a $200 4GB slim if you so desire. Or you can get a $100 Jasper Arcade. A lot of cheap options. The PS3 is just $300 and up and with no pack in games.

Plenty good for YOU but you probably don't play graphically intensive games.

For most it would defeat it's purpose to be a PC gamer only to play with medium settings.

Cost is all about the end user. You can't really give a general price for everyone, especially because the people who spend money to constantly upgrade and stay within the upper echelon in terms of technology, are generally in the minority.

The price you listed is applicable more to hte few than to the many, thus it isn't right.

Uh. What? Crysis and Shattered Horizon aren't graphically intensive? I run both of those pretty much maxed (actually, Crysis can run maxed if I so desire, with a couple more hiccups in the framerate). :?

And then every other game I run is completely maxed out, at a fairly good resolution too :?

Even with a $2,000 PC, you can't max out every single PC game to date. Most but not every game.

With a $666 PC you're going to play on medium mostly.

Actually... That's completely wrong. Most budget builds i've seen for around that price would actually be able to run *a lot* of games on high/max settings. More intensive games, are in the minority, and thus you could run *more* reasonably well.

perhaps actually learn what hardware you can get for $600 before making these claims. You can get a quad core, and a 5770 and 4gb ram, that can max just about all but 2-3 games on a resolution of 1650x1050 or higher.

Funny, you listed the cost of my PC, and then, the specs of my PC >_>

Which I guess only makes it more correct since, I know firsthand that its correct. I was admittedly a little surprised at how powerful my PC turned out to be, but very pleasantly surprised. It's gonna last me a long time.

y'know what bugs me about the scads of dudes telling me a gaming pc is $600 is that they are absolutely correct.

y'know what bugs me further? that they never seem to include an operating system in that, or a gaming mouse and gaming kb, and a monitor, and a sound system.

seriously guys omitting the details is still lying by omission.

so yeah did the guy exaggerate by saying $2000? yeah sure he did, but he didn't exaggerate by much depending on the quality of the extras you wan to buy.

i would say i easily have almost $2000 tied upin my pc setup, yeah i like big monitors and surround sound sue me.

I've seen it done, whilst including an OS.

You don't need to include the cost of a monitor, lest we include the cost of a TV with consoles... Or speakers for that matter.

First of all a $500 PC IS a 2008 PC. Hell high end 2006 PC is a lot better than a $500 PC.

A $500 PC is more of a cheap, outdated junk parts trash build to make a point on forums than anything.

If you want to build a real PC then you start at $1,000 and that is for an AMD build. An i7 build starts at $1,250.

y'know what bugs me about the scads of dudes telling me a gaming pc is $600 is that they are absolutely correct.

y'know what bugs me further? that they never seem to include an operating system in that, or a gaming mouse and gaming kb, and a monitor, and a sound system.

seriously guys omitting the details is still lying by omission.

so yeah did the guy exaggerate by saying $2000? yeah sure he did, but he didn't exaggerate by much depending on the quality of the extras you wan to buy.

i would say i easily have almost $2000 tied upin my pc setup, yeah i like big monitors and surround sound sue me.

If you already owned a PC, you already had a keyboard, mouse, and monitor. If you didn't own a PC already, congratulations you only spent about $100 more than you would have for a non-gaming PC. Which is in itself, less than a console would cost (not to say a PC is cheaper, but that puts this in perspective) It only costs what you want it to cost, really.

you dont count the price of a TV with the consoles, so you dont count the price of the monitor with the PC. A gaming PC and mouse are a luxury and nowhere near a necessity a $5 keyboard/optical mouse pack you can find at a thrift store works great. I can put together a build for $666 including a OS and it would still be better than a console.

With consoles you need to buy a new TV and sofa

[QUOTE="Skittles_McGee"] Erm, my PC cost me $1400 less than the cost you listed, and its plenty good :?

Skittles_McGee

Plenty good for YOU but you probably don't play graphically intensive games.

For most it would defeat it's purpose to be a PC gamer only to play with medium settings.

Uh. What? Crysis and Shattered Horizon aren't graphically intensive? I run both of those pretty much maxed (actually, Crysis can run maxed if I so desire, with a couple more hiccups in the framerate). :?

And then every other game I run is completely maxed out, at a fairly good resolution too :?

If you can max out the games you play then I guess you don't like graphically intensive games. Aside from Crysis which was released in 2006 and with graphics mods it would still choke out your cheap PC.

And a wireless adapter, a hard drive, $10 more per game, controllers (you don't really get to pick what kind, sorry). Whoa, so this is how you make things more expensive on System Wars. I'm learning :o

Crysis was 2007. Also, with a lot of graphics mods, people can actually attain higher performance than vanilla.
