Well it came out November 2006...I think it we will see the decline of the 360 in 2011, leaving about 3-4 years left. I think the wii will be roughly the same, and Sony...well they said they plan to keep the PS3 going for 10 years, and so far, it's been only 1 year. I believe them though, because the PS3 is a beast of a machine, it can go for quite a long time, always improving games.GanonBuRAP
i had to guess, the next 360 will be released on november of 2010.
However, they will keep the old 360 because they still need it as a recruitment tool for LIVE, Arcade, Video Marketplace. SO dont worry, it aint going anywhere.

you sound so sure about all of that . . . but you can never be certain. Remember how they dumped the original xbox??
The 360 has already peaked imo. It doesn't really have much left in it, i'd give it another 3 years tops.raynimrod
I don't know about 'peaking' yet, but I think because of the ever-increasing speed of technology advances the 360 only has 2-3 years left.
well i used to have a xbox 360 but i traded it for a ps3. now i decided i want to get another xbox 360 as well, but i dont want to buy one if it's only going to last 2 more years. does anyone know how much longer the xbox will be around for?langer25
Even if the 360 has a maximum of another 2 years left (though I doubt it), it doesn't matter since who knows where we all be? You might be a different person by then and not even have interests in games. If I were you and really saw a value in the 360 I would buy one.
Back with the PS2 I kept saying to myself I'm going to wait till the next Playstation, 4 years passed and it didn't come out and I ended up buying a PS2 4 years late. You can never say for certain when the life of a console is up but logically looking at the 360 it will be around for at least another 3 to 4 years. The only reason why the first Xbox had such a short life span compared to the Playstation (a concept most idiots on these forums fail to understand) was because people had gotten accustomed to long life spans for consoles, it was Microsoft's first attempt at the console market, the install base was very small compared to the PS2 and it wasn't a success thus there was little support among the developer community so it really didn't make sense to keep it around. This time around Microsoft has more experience in the console market and is really investing in their platform; I doubt they will cut the life short.
The 360 will definitely not outlast the PS3 but in my opinion a 10 year life span is just ridiculous. Most people who are concerned with the 4 to 5 year life span of the 360 are people who believe they will not be able to buy another console in 4 years.
probably 5-6 yearsMad_RhetoricI agree. I don't see any earlier than 5 years. Any earlier than that is just a little too much change within too short of a time period.
