Xbox 360 outsells the PS3 THREE-TO-ONE over thanksgiving

Not a holiday we share here in the UK but damn, you chaps over the pond sure do love the 360 right now :D

That may be true if the 360 didn't have lots of good 'core' games (like the Wii)

360 and PS3 has a similar amount of good games (most would argue more on the 360) yet it's utterly stomping it in both hardware and software sales.

I think you'd have to be quite naieve to not make the connection between what's good for the console maker is good for the gamer. Good sales attracts developers, pays for exclusives etc. etc.

Unless you're Nintendo, they appear to be throwing all the cash under a big mattress and flipping the bird to all their fans :|

am happy to see the 360 selling well... since it would encourage MS to keep the console on the market as long as possible while attracting more devs in releasing great titles for the console...

It stands to reason that people buy the 360 because American game developers build on PCs & 360 & then port to the PS3.  PS3 only gets ported games which lack quality over the Microsoft versions.  When I was shopping for a console, the first thing I looked at was what consoles American game developers were going to make their games for...the majority stuck with what they already knew: Microsoft.

More console sales = more and better games. A game company looks at this because usually more consoles = more games sold = more money. rrjim1

I have no doubt that the 360 sold far more than the Ps3, but didnt MS make these claims last year too? And then they turned out to be significantly less when NPD day rolled around?nicenator

yeah, many people are put off by the price of the ps3, i mean xbox 360s just went below $300 AUD. Because they are so similar in terms of technology (other than blue ray), people just go with the 360. the real question should be, would you rather have a ps3 or xbox 360 disregarding the priceuberrpinnylahrl

Black Friday is a day for deals, so yea, a $199 system will sell more then a $399 system. How many Elites got sold that day because if you gonna match price then it has to be the PS3 vs. The elite. Most stores didn't even have any PS3's, I work at Circuit City part time, been there for 3 weeks now and we havent had any PS3's, PSP's Wii's or DS's since I been there, only 360's and the elite dont sell well.

People will buy what they want. People buy PS3's because they want one, just like the 360's.

I posted on this topic a few weeks ago. I thought PS3 had it for sure earlier this year even with the higher price. Then the worlds financial economy went to heck. Now a lot of people aren't concerned with quality or value, they just want cheap. And you can see it from the way that McDonalds sales have increased, Walmart sales have increased and Xbox sales have increased. EmperorSupreme

The fact the 360 is so cheap is merely a bonus, it's arguabley the better console for gamers this gen regardless of price, especially if you're very into online gaming.

No, he is saying that the 360 is outselling the PS3. He never claimed the 360 was better than the PS3 or the Wii.

For months cows claimed that 08 was the year or the PS3 and the fact that it was outselling the 360 was proof that it was making a comeback.

Now that the comeback has stalled sales don't matter, right?

Look, I don't know what kind of magical fantasy world you live in but people do not just buy whatever they want no matter the price. I'm pretty sure there are a very large number of people that would love to have a million dollar mansion, a Ferrari in their driveway, a 56 inch Plasma in their bathroom (because they've got a 100 incher in the living room) and their own private jet but they don't because the price for those things is far too high.

People buy what they can afford, and often go for the cheaper alternative. In this case, it happens to be the Xbox 360 Arcade. And :lol: for trying to compare sales of the Elite to the sales of the PS3. It's not MS's fault the PS3's cheapest SKU is $400 and sales tracking companies like the NPD and Media create don't count individual SKUs either, they count them all as a whole.
