I have both and I like the PS3 better. Online is good, I like the controller, and I have a big library of PS1 and PS2 games and the upscaler makes me a happier person. I also really like the 360, however I refuse to pay for Live, so online is out of the question for me and I have some minor problems with the controller (for some 3rd person games and fighters). So it's all preference. If you do get a PS3 I would suggest any model except for the 40GB and the new 80GB.SOedipushey, i have the 80gb model. why dont you suggest it?

The old 80GB is good, but the new one (don't know if it's out yet) doesn't support PS2 backward compatibility.

Hmm. I can't see why they had to drop it alltogether. It smacks a bit of New Coke.the PS3 may have better hardware, but when you compare games (and that's the reason any1 would buy a system), the xbox wins by a long run. and $50 a year for live isnt that big a deal. It's a little more than $4 a month, and compare that to the costs of going to a theatre (once) or many other forms of entertainment. The fee also guarantees (hopefully) quality service and connection better than PSN's.Streetrider9873Which it doesn't deliver by any stretch of the imagination. Oh, and I'd like to see this "long run" cause from where I'm standing, both are roughly the same (Heard of MGS4, Resistance, Uncharted, Heavenly Sword, Ratchet and Clank Futurue, Warhawk, Motorstorm, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, Disgaea 3?)(We're not discussing quality here - or I'd have to bring up Vampire Rain). Then theres the whole Red Ring of Death thing.
It seems that the PS3 fanboys are in defensive mode, check the poll, if you love your console so much why aren't you playing it?leperphiliac
Wow. That's like saying "If you love Pizza so much then why don't you marry it?"
Pretty childish.
I am in the EXACT same boat as the TC. I had an Xbox which broke last week due to RROD, so I am therefore now contemplating between the two. They both make such good arguments lol
I see the reasons for buying an Xbox are for the price, Live (£30 a year is nothing. It's like buying a pair of headphones.), better exclusives AT THE MOMENT.
PS3 has the advatange of free online (even if it is worse), Blu-Ray, and better FUTURE exclusives
I believe the PS3's FUTURE lineup looks a lot hotter than the Xbox's but then I have seen many topics promoting PS3's future exclusives lineup although not many promoting the Xbox's, so if someone could post a list of Xbox's exclusives for next year that would be great.
choose which exclusive you like.
basically the multiplats are the same, but i just think the 360 has a better feel in shooters.
but, you really cant go wrong with mgs4, uncharted, LBP, and resistance2.
gears.................................meh.
EDIT spell check>>> uncharter>>>uncharted
EDIT feel in shooters-----talking bout controllers that is.

All the PS3 exclusives are easily substituted on the 360. Forza for Grand Turismo, Banjo for Rachet, any racing game for motorstorm, cod for resistance, etc... mgs4 and uncharted are pretty unique, but those are just two games, and uncharted isnt that great. the other games you mentioned are nowhere near the caliber of 360 exlusives like Gears, Halo, Fable, Mass Effect (i know ME is also on PC, but PS3 does not have it) etc... so 360 wins hands down for games.
true, the rrod is a problem, but considerably less now, and you can get it repaired for free by M$, albeit it takes a while...
and I have read the the 360 connection is indeed faster than PSN's
