BTW Like your sig :)
if your a fan of either your going to want both.... Both may have similar 3rd party support, but the excusives really do stand out.
[QUOTE="TH1Sx1SxSPARTA"]2005-2008=360 wins 2008-present=PS3 wins thats how i see itKashiwaba
Exactly what I was going to say but more like 2009-Present PS3 wins since PS3 games started rolling at late 2008.
ya i was gonna say 2009 but then it hit me, MGS4 came out June 12th 08 so i had to say 2008 lolFor the vast majority of people this is a completely irrelevent question. Both systems are winners and you can't lose if you chose one over the other. As a nerd however, here's how I see it:
Hardware: PS3 (largely due to Blu-Ray drive and mandatory HD drive. No comparable RRoD early on is a nice bonus)
OS/Dashboard: Personal Preference I guess
Media Capabilities: Dunno. Maybe PS3 (Blu-Ray capability, browser, etc.)
Online Store: Personal Preference I guess. Seems there's sufficient content on both.
Network: Personal Preference. Live seems more feature rich but then you have to pay for it (the preference part)
Multiplats: Tie. Some will argue Xbox, but seems the disparity is largely gone and there have been a few PS3 wins recently. If you have to get a blown-up still image to argue about individual blades of grass, well, more power to you...
Exclusives (volume): PS3 in a landslide. Check out (particularly the last 3 years):
MS:

Sony:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_video_games_published_by_Sony_Computer_Entertainment#PlayStation_3
Exclusives (quality): PS3. I don't have the numbers in front of me to prove it and I could be wrong. Keep in mind that most of the big AAA MS exclusives came before 2008 and might not be AAA caliber today (cough cough PDZ). Or there are multiple versions of Forza. Are you really playing Forza 2 now that 3 is out? Will you play 3 when 4 comes out etc. Of couse Sony has this with MLB as well...
Exclusives (variety): PS3. If you own a 360 I hope you LOVE Halo, Forza and Fable. Or dig Kinect family games.
Sales: Xbox in a landslide. Not only have they sold more worldwide, but I'm pretty sure they ate Sony's lunch when it came to business plan, profit, etc. But do you honestly care? Since they both get all the major 3rd party games, how does that impact your enjoyment?
I'm clearly biased. I'd really love to see MS make some great games and invest in this. I'd jump on the bandwagon if they did.
This is System Wars, not Corporate Wars... PS3 wins i say, its got the games, free services and doesn't break as much, blu ray as well helps as i have a nice collection of blu ray movies now :)Sony got their ass kicked this gen, they lost way too much market share. MS won this battle; blind fanboys will say otherwise.

I actually felt you were unbiased and agree with your post. Also i agree with the personal preference part, most of my preference to the PS3 comes from the services being free, and i like the XMB more than the dash. Blu ray as well is a point towards PS3 but if i didn't have loads of movies then it's only got the fact the discs are much more resistant to scratches going for it in disc department. For the vast majority of people this is a completely irrelevent question. In a straight up battle between 360 and PS3, 360 easily wins. More games, more sales, better services.i5750at4GhzMore games if you are willing to count 2005 and 2006 games, new games the PS3 and xbox 360 get basically the same games, with the only difference of the PS3 getting more exclusives than the 360,and better services is debatable, better service been party chat, which cost $60 dollars a year,by default the PS3 wins online the xbox 360 doesn't have and online access out of the box period, the PS3 does if you are not willing to double your knees to MS fees like 40 million 360 owners do by not paying for XBL,that put you on a total disadvantage against PS3 users period. Online play out of the box >>> Fee to play online period.

Well both companies are technically winning because they both are selling a lot of consoles and software. Props to both for making awesome consoles.
I remember in early 2008 when it was time for me to go "next gen". My dad and I were at Wal-Mart and I still remember having to pick between the 360 or PS3. Easiest decision of my life. At the time the 360 was 100 dollars cheaper, had Mass Effect and a **** other games, while the PS3 had Ratchet. I remember still wondering why people bought PS3's in the first place. Of course Blu-Ray wasn't to popular at the time. I assumed that the PS3 would fail.
Fast forward to June 2011, my 360 had red ringed soI had to geta new console,I got a job now so I make my own money. Me and my friend went to Gamestop, and I just looked at the gaming library. The PS3 just has so many more exclusives, that it was no contest. I picked the Ps3 and haven't regretted the purchase one bit. Funny how things change over time.
This is a gaming forum. We post here because we like games and we're good at them. No one can deny that the PS3 has a much wider selection of quality games than the 360. So "winning" for us should mean which console has the better games at a time. Not which console sells more. I could give a sh** that the Wii sells more than the 360 or Ps3, if it has no games.
So for that reason, like was said before the 360 destroyed the Ps3 from 05-08. And the PS3 has "won" from late 08-now.
PS3 won for me. Every game the 360 has I can get on the PS3 and/orPC, so I have no reason to get a 360. Yeah yeah, you said leave PC out of it, but to that I say HELL NO!!!!!!! I own a PC and it plays a roll in my console choices, so deal with it.

Why does the PC have to stay out of it?

Because the TC framed the discussion as such, and trying to derail a legitmate discussion could be considered disruptive posting (moddable)?
TC does NOT make the rules here in SW, so no it is not moddable. PC is allowed in every SW thread regardless of what the TC wants.PS3. Since it released, it has sold more than the 360 with the exception of a few months here and there. Also, its software lineup seems to be continually improving, while the 360's lineup seems to get worse every year.
So that stuff plus the more valuable retail package that the ps3 is, and I'd definitely say that's a win.
I'm interested to see how things go down next gen. Hopefully, both consumers and console manufacturers have learned quite a bit this gen, and we'll see what they both took away from this gen next gen.

The PC does not have to be included in every single threadThis gen isn't over, and as of present, the ps3 have been kicking butt and taking names (in exclusive libraries of course)Sony got their ass kicked this gen, they lost way too much market share.
