Xbox 360 will end up in last place...

I love the 360 and its given me a lot of fun times from the moment it was released. Their main focus right now is obviously with Kinect. As I've said before as long as they continue to satisfy their core gamers while having a seperate team work on Kinect then fine. I guess we'll see. That Kingdoms game from Crytek kind of gives me hope that they understand that they cannot ignore their core players.

I'm not sure I agree with you on point #1. I don't see anything wrong with AW and Fable II. I do however agree with you on the other points. Even if MMOs presumably rule the PC space it doesn't mean that with the right title that console gamers would not jump on it. I don't have a problem with the $299 price tag of the new 360 but that $150 price tag for Kinect is just dumb...I mean really dumb. IMO that thing should not be more than 100 bucks. Heck I would've launched this thing at $79.99....boom. But no MS is at a point that they feel they can sell a barrel of coal for 500 bucks as long as they they slap the Microsoft logo on it. It's because of this attitude that I almost hope Kinect fails. As I said I love the 360 but I feel that MS for the first time has me really doubting them a bit. This holiday and 2011 will be very interesting for MS.

everyday at the shop where I work at I get calls from people who asks about Kinect. in Italy, which is like a crumb of the whole gaming industry. so I can only imagine how many people in america have already preordered this new tech, which is due to November.

It's very unlikely that Kinect won't be a success. it's constantly in the top 100 preorders on Amazon

Depends on how long the gen goes and if the new 360 slim had a huge effect on sales. I think if you discount the first year, they'll end in a tie.

Xbox 360 is the only console I currently own, but it doesn't take much to see that MS is shooting themselves in the foot. These are the reasons:

1. High caliber exclusives missing the mark. Games like Alan Wake and Fable II are undoubtedly great games, but they just don't messure up to Uncharted 2 and MGS4. It's not a matter of graphics (AW and Fable II are both great looking games); it's that they can't compete when it comes to quality and polish.

2. Not being friendly to MMO developers. Really big mistake. There is potentionally a huge audience of gamers who would love to get addicted to an MMO on a console, but Microsoft isn't letting it happen. Very foolish.

3. Missing sweet spots in pricing. The redesigned 360 should have released at $250 -- the thing would have been sold out through Christmas time. Also, the Kinect releasing at $150? Are you effing crazy? That means you're asking casuals to pay $200 for a 360 (assuming a lower end model releases), and then $150 for the Kintect. $350 for a gaming system this late in the generation doesn't cut it. Kinect should be releasing for $100 tops. Mark my words; the Kinect is going to bomb at the $150 price point.

So what does MS need to do? Take a page out of Sony's book. I love my 360, and it started strong, but it's obviously losing steam and MS needs to fix these issues.

1. Halo's sold much higher than any PS3 exclusive ever released, so number one isn't valid. Include multiplats(multiplats count IN THE REAL WORLD), and your first point isn't valid. The only thing that matters in the real world is how much a games sells, not it's metacritic.

3. I can agree with numberthree when you talk about Kinect, but unlike Sony, Microsoft doesn't have to cut the price of their products by that much to get them to sell.

MS has already come out as a winner this gen, it makes little difference if they end up in 3rd by 2015. The PS3 on the other hand will be seen as nothing but a colossal let down. It's still behind the Xbox 360, and even if it does pass it up the gab will be negligible. HoolaHoopMan

Yea there is already an established console MMO market that will be migrating to FFXIV PS3.

FFXI may not have wow numbers but it has been profitable since 2003.

FFXI is like the wow of Japan and Im am pretty sure they view it as a success on PS2, 360, and PC.

I have visited some FFXIV forums and a lot of the hardcore FFXI players are planning to get it on PS3 as well as PC.

They lost some momentum in 09,but as far as them ending up in last place.......doubtful. I think their new SKu has attracted a lot more business, and with Kinect, and Halo Reach coming out later this year they'll be fine. I was also thinking,these three systems have sold very well so far, and have established pretty reasonable sizedinstalled bases, so even if one does come in last place, they will still be successful financially. I've been gaming since the Sega Master System, and this has been my favorite gen of all time! All three systems have a nice size library of games to choose from, with each offering up different experiences, whether it be by motion hardware, or exclusive titles. So I think whichever console you have, you really aren't in any danger of it being abandoned, or losing its support for a long while.

I think hes talking exclusive wise. Which out of you list is only 2 games.

Heaps of games still sell well on the platform - RDR, Mass Effect 2, MW2 and is usually still the lead console for multiplats.

Game wise it hasn't been poor. It also has a couple of big hitters that are tried and truly successful- Halo and Gears of War.

This 'Graphics King' exclusives is just some angle Cows are trying use, but the Xbox360 has been doing well with out them.

If graphics were to simply determine who ends up last in this race then the PS2 should have been last past generation.

This generation it should be then Wii last place and the PC obviously first place.

there is no new 150 model , by the way the arcade wass 199,99 so the replacment which isnt even anounced will cost the same ,

I dont agree with the comment, for me both Fable 2 and Alan Wake are games i buy day one and MGS4 is one of the most boring games i have ever played, Uncharted 2 is a common linear shooter, again very repeattive, shortand boring too, those games are not for everyone and especially hardcore gamers like me that like long and deep games, like Demon Soul

2. MMOs are the ultimate destruction of gaming, it is MMOS that made WKCm FF11, FF12 what they are, i hope 360 never ever gets a MMO, for me that would a huge plus

3. 149$ for the most powerfull console available is high ? Where can you play the best version of RDR ? Only on 360, for 149$, try that elsewhere, Kinect is the future, 150$ is nothing comparing to what the next gen technology can do (and Wii mote, PS3 Move cant)
