Yeah, it's too bad. I'm hoping the first die shrink will cool things down. If not, I may be waiting longer to get one.
Sigh...

you did read that the GPU pushes 100 degrees C in a warm room? clearly the CPU's 58 degrees C is not the problem. hell, my CPU on my PC sits at around that fully loaded (which never happens unless i induce it with SIS Sandra.). 100 degrees on a gpu is insane, mine never breaks mid 60's fully loaded. a new CPU is not going to help this problem

Of course a CPU die shrink won't help much (it will a little), but both the CPU and GPU are undergoing a die shrink from what I understand.

shrink the GPU die...? and where did you hear this from? since they never made an announcement of this. that, and GPU's are made differently, and i have yet to see any GPU reduce die size

There are others from that page, but those are the three most credible that rang a bell.
My 360 is the best electronic device ever made. Period.
Never had a problem with it and I'm not worried about it either.

lets see, by that logic, every console i have ever owned was the best piece of electronics ever made. but in reality, its poorly designed. to say that a GPU running at upwards of 100 degrees C is the best ever is just ignorant. obviously the thermal expert knows quite a bit more than you. its a piss poor design, everyone who doesnt ignore the truth acknowledges this.

ok, and states they would be in use by May. which would mean the unit they tested in this should have that GPU. which means it is still a problem. you can make the chip as small as you want, but if you have no airflow or proper heatsink area, its still going to overheat.

This is pretty interesting. If the Japaneseanalyzes the 360 as a bad design, it just makes you wonder why the PS3 is selling as bad as the 360 in Japan. Interesting.

The die shrink was delayed until a few months ago. The chips have begun to be poduced, but are likely not on shelves yet.
And this will do wonders for the 360's heat issues. This will lower electricity usage, heat output of it's two hottest components, and free up space within the case (not because the dies will take up less space, but because smaller heatsinks and fans will be sufficient).
Dies shrinks do wonders for any system. It's how the PS2 slim was born as well as that little PS1. If it allows them to shrink down devices that much and still have ample cooling, imagine what it will do without a shrink in size.

Its fact not logic.
People get a clue.
Any one could say this or that about any product and you people believe everthing.
Fact of the matter MS did one thing wrong and that was make it easy to tell if your console was experiencing problems. And the chicken littles ran with it. Exploiting it and blowing it out proportion.
Any gamer should own a 360 its just that good.
Its a no worry console. Really.

again, 100 degrees on a GPU should scare the crap out of anyone who has any knowledge about computing hardware. clearly you have no clue.

The only clue I need is that I can play my 360 for 10 hrs a day and it still kicks ass.
And I live in south Texas and it gets hot !
So go out and buy a 360 and stop being a slave to the talking heads.

youre willfully ignorant, and dont know jack about electronics or computers. i completely understand, so i will just smile and nod like i do to most people who have no clue.

My 360 experience is my reality. And that reality is my 360 runs beautiful.
And being a "fanboy" has nothing to do with it.
This is pretty interesting. If the Japaneseanalyzes the 360 as a bad design, it just makes you wonder why the PS3 is selling as bad as the 360 in Japan. Interesting.
ReverseCycology
are you out of your mind, or you're just an ignorantfanboy? PS3 has sold over a million consoles in Japan. 360 hasn't even sold 400,000 even though it's been out longer.

Ok heat bad.
I say thats all you go to and ignore the fact that if every 360 had these tempatures you so faithfully latch on to was evident in every 360 they would all die. But you fail to mention this is not the case.
So again heat bad. I get it.
But has nothing to do with the 360 being a great console.
Jeez

its even more interesting how conveniently you look over the fact that the ps3 has sold more units in japan in 9 months than the box did it its entire time its been available
a substantial amount of units more
