[QUOTE="Chris-Hansen"][QUOTE="Vyse_The_Daring"]There was 360 shortages. :|Vyse_The_Daring

still cost 30% less though, i cant believe ps3 is selling at all at $600 of name alone.

haha your logic makes me laugh

if there are shortages, it means there are NO XBOX360's AVAILABLE

get it? no supply

ps3 has been the opposite

my logic ? i merely made a point son. to think a $600 console outsold it no matter what circumstances by that much and it wasnt even a worldwide launch so there wasnt buzz everywhere is pretty crazy. and no games mind you. your comprehension makes me laugh

You're in no position to laugh at anyone. When there are no products in the stores, one cannot buy this product, the 360 would have sold more had there been more consoles available.

thats wasnt my point and i am not saying it wouldnt have sold more, infact quite the contrary. my point was i was surprised a $600 console has sold what it has purely off name recognition alone if you had paid attnetion to my original post.

I bolded where you decided to ignore the shortages and claim that you were amazed the PS3 sold more. You werent saying it sold well, you were saying it sold better while ignoring supply constraints.

hmmm where do i say the shortages werent a reality ? infact i acknowleged that when i mentioned circumstances, no where did i say if there wasnt shortages it wouldnt have sold better.you are definatley reaching and grasping buddy. its obvious what i said, i will say it again for emphasis,

"i merely made a point son. to think a $600 console outsold it no matter what circumstances by that much and it wasnt even a worldwide launch"

are you gonna keep digging a deeper hole for yourself ?

Well, it's not a failure yet. Not sure why people keep saying this. You got to give the system at least 12-18 months. It's selling better then the 3DO and Virtual Boy. If it keeps getting outsold by the GBA 6-7 months from now, things may change. ;) When your system is being outsold by your last-gen system, that's a problem. Sony keeps seeing this as a positive, but it really isn't. Sure you are happy that the PS2 is still selling well, but you really want developers to start focusing on the PS3 and not last-gens PS2. blackace
yeah its definately not good when 360 is selling worse than xbox 1 in japan ;)

Hmmm, how about. Because it sales are not pickingup, and are slumpoing each month. When xbox's at least rose or stayed even most months.

[QUOTE="bloodyclot"]3 months after launch you couldn't get an xbox 360 yet....ps3 you could go and pick one off the shelves.. maybe the issue is the shortage otherwise i truly think the 360 woud of easily sold that 50k moreblackace

okay but did the TC take into account that in the first 3 months of the PS3, they didn't even sell to Europe yet? I think that off-sets the argument the XBOX360 has with the shortages.

Well, that's true too, but there was XBox 360 shortages in Europe as well. The only place there wasn't shortages was in Japan. We will never truly know the who would have sold more in the first 3 months because both launches were completely different. M$ & Sony would both need to launch their systems on the same day, in the same markets with the same amount of units shipped for you to truly get an accurate sales number. There's no way to do that with the way the PS3 and XBox 360 launched. XBox 360 didn't have any competition and the PS3 did because of the Wii. :? Too many variables.

so we can agree with the TC that the ps3 is not a failure like many in these forum claim it to be

whats the definition of a failure the xbox360 not selling in japan ?

really the market is bigger then us only

not only that but not everyone buys the newest console alot of people knew the PS3 was eventually coming so they decided not to buy a 360.

some couldn't even if they wanted to...shortages.

Yeah ok thats why Xbox 360 hasn't sold over 12 million yet....

Couldn't find one til April second 2006. Man Oblivion and Graw made the last few weeks in March harsh on me. Because I wanted one ASAP but no store near me had any.

I get the feeling these numbers are for the US only (As they sold about 500k first month then 250k and 250k the 2 months after).. so people should stop bringing up Europe and Japan. And if people expand their vision past the first 3 months.. I THINK that the xbox 360 has made up that 50k. (I think it sold more then 82k in April 2006 for example)

Big time through the end of april. But some people want to pretend and live in fantasy land and say ps3 beat 360 by 50,000 over the same time frame. Blah Blah Blah.

If they are not going to include why the 360 sold what it did, then their point is worthless.

It's the first 3 months so the 360 probably over took it in 4 which is why they cut it off at 3.  Then there is April, in which the 360 sold over 300k while the PS3 just sold 82k.

sony's main problem is that now that the ps3 is on shelves the 360 is still outselling it!!! That means the gap is continuing to grow not get smaller. Just look at april's sales number in the U.S.

No, I'm talking about the 360s first April.  Last year the 360 sold over 300k in April and pS3 sold 82k in it's first April.

[QUOTE="legalize3"]

[QUOTE="kevbo77"]The first 3 months of the systems' launch are not comparable. The PS3, aside from the first month or so, was never supply constrained. I remember that when the 360 came out, I couldn't find one in a retail store for the first 4 months or so. I think that if the 360 had more units available, they probably would have sold considerably more units than they did in those first few months. The PS3, on the other hand, has had a lot of available unites since January. That's the difference as I see it.kamuix

ya riiiight if sony released the ps3 worldwide it would aslo have shortages in the us

He has a point the ps3 only launched in the U.S and Japan. The 360 however attempted a worldwide launch. So there were consoles in other provinces

indeed but the op's article is only comparing NA sales number

and to the guy who keeps saying the ps3 is $200  more and still sold more what do u not understand

if theres no supply they cant sell more, hell they could have been selling 360's for $1 and it still wouldnt of sold more cause there wasnt enough supply

Yeah...it's just too bad the PS3 isn't competing with the 360 three months after the 360 launched, it's competing with the 360 NOW.

Yeah, over 10 million sold in less then 1-1/2 years is a failure? The 360 is far, far from being a failure.

thats not my point my point is you cant claim ps3 as a failure in its first months when its pacing out the xbox360 in the same time frame if you do the xbox360 also failed....

I know people say its not fair to compare 360 sales numbers to ps3 numbers, and that you should compare ps3 sales numbers to 360's first year sales numbers. We are in system wars right? A war begins when some begins to fight, if you chose not to fight back right away thats your problem. PS3 is NOT competing against sales numbers from a year ago, its competeing against the 360 right now. I dont care if the ps3 sold double in its first 3 months compared to the 360's first 3 months, doesn't matter. What matters is the 360 is millions ahead in overall numbers, and the ps3 isn't gaining any ground. If people want to sit here and be retarded and act like the ps3 is doing great, lol, then go right ahead, but the each month that passes they are falling farther behind. You can spin it all day long and try to pretend its good for sony, but you cant argue that the ps3 is losing ground each month, and is already down by millions. Those are facts.

i dont totally agree.  it will be important but the wii is having supply problems.  they aren't building up christmas stock,  they are still selling out.  so when the 360 sells 3 million in december the wii will still only sell what they can make,  a few hundred thousand.  but nintendo is making money and can build more factories to increase production,  it just takes time to build factories,  then staff and train the workers.  i think the 360 will eventually win,  but i expect the wii to make a much stronger showing in '08 than '07.  thats why i dont think '07 is the defining moment.
