LOL at this BS revisionist history trying to paint Microsoft as saints.

Microsoft TRIED TO DENY RROD for the longest time. Microsoft's anti-consumer attitude toward gamers and incompetence got so bad that the government was forced to step in.

Microsoft was FORCED to finally do something about RROD by the government!

Microsoft wanted to avoid giving away any type of warrenties, hence the fact they tried to deny RROD issues even existed... so again they were FORCED into eventually doing what they did....

And in fact, all Microsoft executives did was complain about the fact that the warrenties cost them a lot of money.....

NOT ONCE did Microsoft ever apologise for knowingly releasing faulty hardware upon the public...NOT once did Microsoft ever apologise to RROD victims....NO, the only thing Microsoft did was complain about having to give up warrenties and how it cost them too much. It was like are you kidding me!

Microsoft has always been pure corporate scum and greed at its most ugly...and you saw that even more so with how Microsoft just tried to take gamers rights away

But let me guess, you being the delusional xbot you are, that was just Microsoft showing you they care, right lol

Fu*k Microsoft for life.

If there ever were a anti-consumer company you'd want to perish, it would be the extreme anti-consumer, anti-gamer Microsoft who only wants to do the bare-minium

Microsoft extended the warranty to 3 years, but it didn't matter. They would replace broken 360's no matter what. Modded, smashed, opened, out of warranty, it didn't matter. No receipt required or anything. People who got RROD got free 360's. Microsoft even paid for overnight shipping both ways..

What happened when all of the 60GB PS3's got the YLOD? Sony charged a nice fee to fix them..

Microsoft handled the hardware failures far better than Sony. Sony gave their customers the shaft compared to what MS did...

Let's not forget that Sony NEVER fixed the DRE issues with the PS2s and got sued because of it. They still never admitted to it being a problem. Yeah that idiot has the nerve to talk about MS.

Steve Ballmer retiring is a step in the right direction. He was the one who wanted to be Steve Jobs. Before Ballmer, MS market cap was 400+ Billion, not it is just under 300. Heck, the company got almost a 800m stock increase on his retirement. They are moving in the right direction now that he and Mattrick are gone. The last 4 or 5 years of MS were run by executives who had no idea how to innovate. That is different now, which is why i have faith in XB1. The leaders in charge now are very into gaming.

Sony made a similar mistake at the beginning of PS3, now they are fine.

Yeah, no company is free of making mistakes like this. Even Nintendo and Sony have switched executives.

But MS still has a long way to go to convince me of buying an Xbone, a steady stream of exclusives years down the line would be nice.

Also their PC devision is clueless. We want great games like Age of Empires and Flight Simulator again, not ports of smartphone games... WTF are they thinking ?

Bu bu bu buuu buuu according to xbots (and xbots on neogaf) the 360 "won" non existent "market share" and unquantifable "mide share" from the PS3....so therefore xbox has been the biggest success ever and the 360 just totally won this gen....even though the PS3 out sold the 360 world wide...even though the PS3 significantly beat out the 360 in exclusives and library...even though the PS4 is currently slaughtering the xbone in every way possible...and even though the xbox brand has cost Microsoft 3 billion......

Got to smh at that Xbot "logic" or delusions more like it. Xbots spinning miles of yarn

This Gen WII made crap tons of money, XBOX made a small profit, PS3 lost 12 years of profits.

So WII>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>XBOX>>>>>PS

Why is it all about profit? Are you a shareholder?

By the way, its obvious there are some wannabe xbot shareholders in this thread cheerleading a faceless mega shady corp in Microsoft. Simply pathetic. If you want proof of how humanity has degraded just read the posts from xbots in this thread.

The couple remaining xbots left on the sinking xbox ship who havent yet made the switch to the Playstation like every one else already has, arent even real gamers, they care more about numbers and profits that dont mean a thing to gamers.

When it came to everything that truly mattered to GAMERS, Playstation was far and away the undisputed king of this gen:

Examples? Easy!

-PSN+ >>> XBL by magnitudes.

-Playstation exclusives utterly dominated by every criteria you can think of.

-Playstation 3 was the graphically superior console, had blue-ray, standard wireless controllers etc

The 360 on the other hand was complete shit. The fees on top of extortion fees just in order to access basic features and even basic online gameplay. Microsoft is despicable.

The 360 was weaker too, didnt even have blue-ray, and its standard controllers needed batteries.

Then there is the fact the 360 exclusive library is the single most pathetic and miserable exclusive library of all time-nothing but the same old boring repetitive lackluster Gears/Halo/Forza sequels shoved down consumers throats year in and year out...

In NO universe was the 360 a success to gamers.

And still tthe PS3 outsold the 360, so the PS3 did have the sales to match too. The PS3 was commerically and critically the bigger success, bottom line...end of story.

And the momentum of the PS3 carried Sony into the PS4 riding on fire, so yes, winning to gamers did matter.

That good will that started with the PS3 in 2009 has since been blossoming and blossoming for Sony/Playstation. Again, its carried into the PS4 and Sony has been doing all the right things with the PS4 to match. The PS4 is an unstoppable juggernaut. The PS4 is like the PS2 of our time in terms of popularity.

The PS4 is the ultimate gamers console and is widely considered one of the best, most feature rich, powerful, gamer focused consoles to ever be released. It didnt happen over night. Its been Sony and their stellar first parties working their butts off; because Sony and their stellar first parties are gamers themslefes and just want to put out great products/games that they themselfes would love and be proud of etc.

(Microsoft awlays wants to do the bare-minuim. Dont let them get away with it)

Talking about profit IS DAMAGE CONTROL, plain and simple.

Even then, xbots want to desperately bring up "bu bu the PS3 lost Sony a lot of money....WELL the xbox lost Microsoft even more money. Think of it like this, the PS3 was Sony's xbox in terms of profit lost....Now DO YOU really think the PS4 wont make a shit ton of profit now. Use your heads xbots. In fact, the 360 lost more money on each console sold then the PS4 will lose, plus PSN+ will generate huge money! At the end of this gen, Sony will be back on top, and I guaranter you the xbone division will be sunken.

TLDR read version:

•Profits matter to shareholders. These xbots arent real gamers. They are sharehders

•Playstation was the king of this gen when it came to everything that mattered to gamers, listed many examples

•Still the PS3 sold more and so had the sales to match. Commerically and critically the PS3 was the bigger success

•Xbots talking about profit is DAMAGE CONTROL

Even then,

Xbots want to desperately bring up "bu bu the PS3 lost Sony a lot of money....WELL the xbox lost Microsoft even more money.

Think of it like this, the PS3 was Sony's xbox in terms of profit lost....Now DO YOU really think the PS4 wont make a shit ton of profit now. Use your heads xbots.

So you just ignored everything i said i.e all the facts, and continued to spout off more of your revisionist history non sense

There is no doubt in my mind you are a Microsoft shill now. Your opinions aent even worth more then the gum on the bottom of my shoe.

You truly are a delusional mentally ill xbot

Microsoft wanted to avoid giving away any type of warrenties, hence the fact they tried to deny RROD issues even existed... so again they were FORCED into eventually doing what they did BY THE GOVERNMENT

And NOT ONCE did Microsoft ever apologise. The only thing that came out from them was how much the warrienties will cost them, like if it was consumers faults that Microsoft knowingly relesed faulty hardware upon the public.

But no, thats just Microsoft "caring" to you. You are truly delsuional

I bet Microsoft showed they "loved" you when they tried to take away gamers rights.

And just like how Microsoft never apologised for RROD, Microsoft never apologised for trying to take away our rights, and instead blames consumers for "not getting their future" just like how they blamed having to give away warranties on the consumer when Microsoft kowningly released the faulty hardware rushing to make launch

Microsoft has always been pure corporate scum and greed at its most ugly...History and facts support that...What you say is delusions

LOL at you even trying to compare RROD which effected over 50% of xboxes to YLOD which effected no less then 10% of PS3s....PROVES how delusional of an xbot you are trying to reach far and wide.

And i could make page long lists of all the shady things Microsoft has done and that list would tower over Sonys

And by the way, Microsoft gave me hell when i tried to get my RRODED 360 replaced...and there are many similar stories like mine......so take your xbot BS and shove it where the sun dont shine

The original Xbox was such a money hole. The contract with nVidia especially was crazy expensive.

This is complete bullshit. If you are going to hate on MS at least be truthful about it. They have more than enough shit to be pissed off about.

Peter Moore did formally apologize when they announced the new warranty and even refunded people that had already paid to have their 360's repaired. It cost them a billion dollars to do it. If that isn't a good enough apology then you have issues.

Really? Thats your source. An offically prepared PR statement from Microsoft's web site? You xbox fanboys are really dumb. No wonder Microsoft thought they could get away with always online in the first place, because of xbox fanboy SHEEP like you. Of course Microsoft was going to deny, and attempt to weasle their way out of RROD while preparing canned generic PR "oh we are sorry" statements

But anyone who was around during that time, KNOWS HOW Microsoft was first trying to deny it. You xbox fanboys in denial CAN NOT re-write history. You understand that! We KNOW! Microsoft didnt want to give out the warranties. They were forced to. F*ck Microsoft

Microsoft might not be made of saints, but that company did apologize. You must have forgotten.

Peter Moore wrote:

To our Xbox Community:

You've spoken, and we’ve heard you. Good service and a good customer experience are areas of the business that we care deeply about. And frankly, we've not been doing a good enough job.

Some of you have expressed frustration with the customer experiences you have had with Xbox 360; frustration with having to return your console for service after receiving the general hardware error message on the console.

The majority of customers who own Xbox 360 consoles have had a terrific experience from their first day, and continue to, day in and day out. But when anyone questions the reliability of our product, or our commitment to our customers, it's something I take very seriously.

We have been following this issue closely, and with on-going testing have identified several factors that can cause a general hardware failure indicated by three flashing red lights on the console. To address this issue, and as part of our ongoing work, we have already made certain improvements to the console.

We are also implementing some important policy changes intended to keep you in the game, worry-free.

As of today, all Xbox 360 consoles are covered by an enhanced warranty program to address specifically the general hardware failures indicated by the three flashing red lights on the console. This applies to new and previously-sold consoles. While we will still have a general one year console warranty (two years in some countries), we are announcing today a three-year warranty that covers any console that displays a three flashing red lights error message. If a customer has an issue indicated by the three flashing red lights, Microsoft will repair the console free of charge—including shipping—for three years from the console’s purchase date. We will also retroactively reimburse any of you who paid for repairs related to problems indicated by this error message in the past. In doing so, Microsoft stands behind its products and takes responsibility to ensure that every Xbox 360 console owner continues to have a fantastic gaming experience.

If we have let any of you down in the experience you have had with your Xbox 360, we sincerely apologize. We are taking responsibility and are making these changes to ensure that every Xbox 360 owner continues to have a great experience.

This will take a few days to roll out globally, and I appreciate your continued patience as we launch this program. I've posted an FAQ that should address some additional questions, and we'll update it over the next few days.

I want to thank you, on behalf of all us at Microsoft, for your loyalty."

Surely can't be long now until the shareholders crap the bed and ditch the Xbox brand. At least Sony could say "The PS3 got Blu-ray as the standard HD format!" Xbox did...?
