If any of you have seen the most current army recruitment TV adverts in the UK you will notice that they use a xbox360 controller to pilot a small remote control reconnaissance plane in the commercial. Clearly the PS3 controller isn't up to the job and i agree after 3 weeks of owning a PS3 (I love the console) my controller however i do not. The buttons are already sticking and i've cleaned the bloody thing but after 2 and a half years m xbox360 control is the same as when i bought it (the ergonomics are far superior too).

I just wish MS would design a controller for the PS3 lol!

I think it's less to do with ergonomics or being "better" and more to do with the fact that Microsoft made it so that the 360 controller is compatible with Windows Vista as standard. Whereas to use the PS3 controller you need to plug in the USb charge cable and download fan made drivers tbh...

Sceptical S.O.B! clearly it's to attract soldiers to the xbox360 lol. A previous post was on the money as they said the 360 controller is compatible with the software. Also your inadvertently saying that the xbox360 has a wider appeal that the PS3 does!

I also seen the 360 Controller used in that show FutureWeapons where it is controlling this unmaned robot that is (that could provide support role, such as transport and giving cover to troops). I think it is also in use now, with the US Army, remember seeing a US Army Solider, with a 360 controller and a tiny robot, here.

Does the use of Dualshock 2 by the US Army explain why they are so often to blame in friendly fire incidents?

Ok for fighting games although i think your pushing the boat by calling them "real gamers" I all thought they called themselfes PC users. Regardless of that the PS3 d pad is no better than that of the 360's

No, i think the TC was saying that it works with windows, but he prefers the egrnomics of the controller better regardless if it works with windows. I agree, it is 100% better. The PS3 controller feels 'loose' and clunky to me.

I'd watch what you say, a large number of people on this forum are British, also our army is vastly superior to the American army even if it is much smaller.

IIRC, the only reason the British are using Xbox360 controllers is because they can't get the American Army to do so. It's a shame that the American army is using a PS2 controllers to play Socom in Iraq. :D

I'm going to be careful because this was a fun thread and i don't want it locked. But when we are fighting side by side in Iraq i find that it's best to fire at the enemy rather that the same side wouldn't you agree?

I mean how difficult is it to tell your ally from the enemy when your ally have a radar a a strobe and a massive sign on there bloody vehicle telling you that there on your side.

Well I have a lot of respect for any individual soldier, even British. But it has been shown that Britain's military commitments to Iraq and North Korea have exposed glaring deficiencies in resources and equipment. It's mostly their own governments fault they are so weak. In fact whenever a British ship is deployed to South China or Korea, they have to rely of the U.S. or French Navy to bring the aerial support.

They only use the controller because it's compatiable with Windows PC's, but it would be pretty fun to control one of those spy planes in the advert using a 360 controller. Does this mean hardcore 360 gamers have a place in the army lol!?

Do you mean the British army thats in the papers and news everyday because they are equiped with cheap defective equipment that is resulting in deaths?

Or the british army thats getting sued by family members who have died due to being under and ill equiped shoddy equipment?

360 fits right in...
