We enjoy the finer things in life, and a console that is destined to win and be the lead platform for multiplats because our chosen company has a bankroll that never ends.

Victory is only inevitable.

Awee it all makes sense now. Abonsaba was fired by Sony. He's just disgruntled and bitter. He now works for Microsoft posting about a 100 Playstation hate threads a day. He's a sad sad little man indeed. Seriously mods, can we ban this troll already?MuayThaiFTW

@ActionRemix Funny that you count all of Nintendo, when you don't the others. Oh, you were just talking about the gaming part, while this thread was talking about entire company part. My mistake :? I don't mind MS taking over because it would be a better reason to quit, but my reason works fine too.

MS is willing and able to take losses to secure the console race.

Microsoft has lost billions on both of their consoles. They need to go 100% casual or exit the market. Hardcore gamers are not worth their money.

That's just pocket change to MS

As I said, they are buying the console race.

Sales are up dramatically from last generation. Lets not kid ourselves. MS is now dominating the most important US market.

It's a slow and steady hostile takeover.

We have the money. You have no choice but to eventually and inevitably surrender to out might.

Next generation the decades of dominance begin.

You guys know M$ isn't just a Console company right ? TC is actually right, M$ holds the most money over Sony and Nintendo. So it is the most powerful Corp. Nintendo may be winning the race but M$ does have the most money. However saying they can buy Sony and nintendo is stretching it.

They're going right back in the ditch if the next Xbox is a high powered console. Prolonged loss leading does not work.

The PS3 is more likely to pass up the 360 than the 360 is to pass up the Wii. I think this generation will be over before the Xbox will outsell the Wii. I though the gap between the PS3 and 360 was a little ovrer a couple million at this point. Between the Wii and the 360 is about a 30 million difference..right?

The Xbox was MS getting their foot into the door.

The 360 was setting up camp.

The 720 will be a mass exodus of our perished enemies and the beginning of a new age where the empire rules with an iron fist.

Dreaming in public is an important part of our job description, as gamers, but there are bad dreams as well as good dreams. We're dreamers, you see, but we're also realists, of a sort.

Sony is on wobbly legs right now.

They have been losing money hand over fist and they have been weakened signifcantly.

Next generation will be their last. We will bring them to their knees before the death blow is struck.

Nintendo will exist in a niche home console market like they did in the Gamecube years and continue to dominate the handheld market.

Ok still I don't see how it could cost that much since most of the Xbox was PC parts. Nvidia must have had one great contract. Also I bet Sony is going to post a big loss because of the PSN hacking and RnD cost for the Vita.

They sold both Xboxes for a lot less than they cost to manufacture with the hope that they'd recoup the losses with game sales. They're starting to pull around now, but if they start next-gen before 2014, they'll have lost money over the gen. Breaking even wouldn't be an accomplishment, anyway. Sony's in a big rut, too. They managed to erode everything they built with the two most successful consoles of all time. I think both Sony and Microsoft are going to try to pull a Wii next gen. It's entirely possible that the Wii U ends up as the most powerful next gen system. I'm expecting them all to be in the general ballpark of each other, though. In order of power, I'm expecting PS4 Wii U Xbox 3 with the power difference of Xbox 1 Gamecube Dreamcast

Why is everyone focused on Sony? Look at Nintendo. They're straight-up beasts. The PS3 and the Xbox 360 were both complete financial disasters.

WTH?

How does losing money in their gaming division prove they're not rich?

They're one of the richest companies in the world and this is just pocket change to them.

This proves the thread title. MS can afford to dump as much money into the console race as they want until eventually they're on top for good.

The PSN hacking will cost them millions, not billions. The Vita will cost them several hundred million dollars, but they'll probably still end up with about a billion dollars of profit at the end of the year. For the record, I'm a 100% Nintendo fanboy who happened to buy a PS3 last year.

Actually, MS being in the red for that long and still supporting their platform is a sign of how rich they are. Just saying, dude.

Safe to say microsoft isnt as rich as the guy said. One thing though, where is Sony's 2011 earnings?

ristactionjakso

Their market cap is about 5 times that of Nintendo + Sony combined.

You guys know M$ isn't just a Console company right ? TC is actually right, M$ holds the most money over Sony and Nintendo. So it is the most powerful Corp. Nintendo may be winning the race but M$ does have the most money. However saying they can buy Sony and nintendo is stretching it.

Joedgabe
Nintendo is winning the race and is not a $$$$$ like MS, so what is Sony's excuse? Sony has Japan at it's corner compared to the pitiful support the Xbox360 gets over there. The Playstation 3 came of the back of 2 MEGA successful consoles PS and PS2 analysts predicted almost every year the PS3 would overtake the Xbox360 MS is not a games company and came second or last in the previous generation from the beginning. The only excuse which Cows would rather blame Sony for, then give MS any real credit is the whole year head start and launch price. Yet the PS and PS2 also launched a with a high price (adjusting for inflation) and the Wii overtook the Xbox360.

[QUOTE="ActionRemix"][QUOTE="xhawk27"]I don't get how you think the WiiU is going to be more powerful than the next Xbox but whatever PS3 fanboy! ;)Also Sony is going to have a big loss for 2011 because of the PSN hacking and RnD for the Vita.abonsabo

The PSN hacking will cost them millions, not billions. The Vita will cost them several hundred million dollars, but they'll probably still end up with about a billion dollars of profit at the end of the year. For the record, I'm a 100% Nintendo fanboy who happened to buy a PS3 last year.

Sony is losing billions as a whole and have been for years.

They're on very shaky legs right now.

really depends Sony's massive, got money tied up it might take a hit but its always got a lot of money to throw around on top of that their semi conductor arm is profitable if im not mistaken.

WTH?

How does losing money in their gaming division prove they're not rich?

They're one of the richest companies in the world and this is just pocket change to them.

This proves the thread title. MS can afford to dump as much money into the console race as they want until eventually they're on top for good.

You spend money to make money. Brun cash make good deals, offers, promotions, secure timed exclusives, dlc, marketing, know you markets tastes- RPGs, FPS, MS didn't get the way they are just by burning cash mindlessly. your also missing one important point. Gamers didn't get the Xbox360 because MS is rich. Have a guess why they bought it.
