....I don't get it.....
Videogames aren't ruining Sports in the USA from what I have seen, but we're already an obese nation...
So he has to throw the blame to gaming? Huh, imagine that. This guy should call Jack Thompson.
England is behind Germany, France, Spain and Italy anyway. :PHexagon_777
I do think he has a point though, but it isnt just gaming, its a number of things; not enough areas for kids to play sports, parents not feeling safe enough for kids to be out etc. I do think he has a point but kids have alot more stuff to keep themselves entertained nowadays.Pablo_Aimar
Exactly.
England has the highest percentage of foriegners in its league than the over big leagues in Europe (Spain, Italy, Germany & France). We have a lack of quality home grown players.Pablo_Aimar

American Football is a contact sport vs an athletic sport?
Hows about Rugby & American football, you know the version without the padding?
This is just excuses for how talentless a lot of England players and managers are compared to others, I mean how desperate is this.
But this is typical of English sport, never want to take responsibility for when things arn't good and everyone to glory hunt when they are.
When England won Rugby years ago you had people celebrating who couldn't name 3 players, same with Cricket (Ibet most didn't even understand the game).
The reason is probably more to do with a lot of other social aspects otherthen video games. But I suppose its too easy to blame.
It is funny how he just says Xbox. A few years ago it would have been Playstation getting the blame.Pablo_Aimar
Coming from the UK originally (been in states for 3 years now) I can say that there is a big shift in gaming habits in my experence. EVERYONE I know who is a gamer, bar one guy (who actually is a tester for Sony in Liverpool so don't know if he counts!), the 360 is their primary and usually only console. This includes friends and family (incidently we're hoping to put 12 of us +guests together this weekend). Granted not all of them owned PS2's but a significant number did. Maybe "Sonyland" is becoming a bit less Sony.

Padding just makes people hit you harder I know I have played both sports. The hits in Football are much harder the nRugby.

That hits in American football are harder then in Rugby and pads dont make them hurt any less.

lol thats BS if the pads dont do anything why wear them? Id prefer being knocked over by a guy whos also in padding to being stood on in rucks.

People hit harder when they have pads. I have played Rugby and Football with and without pads. I get hurt the worst playing Football with pads. I am not saying Rugby is a wussy sport but dont nock Football because the players ware pads.

I've heard about this as well. These kids are still playing football. They are just playing Fifa 08 & Willing Eleven 2007 instead, that's all. I haven't watched a soccer (football) game in years. Not since the women's U.S. team was winning all those championships. That era was great for women's soccer. Not really a big soccer fan. Takes too long for someone to score a point.

There would be way to many injuries without the pads. Sheesh.. there are a ton of injuries even with the pads. When you're paying NFL football players 1-10 million a year, you want them on the field earning that money, not on the sideline in a cast or on crutches. I doubt Rugby players make the kind of money U.S. NFL players do. How often to Rugby player get injured?

When someone mentions "The best league", they are not stating it based on how good the players are in that league, they are basing it on how competitive the league is. If you know which team is going to win the championship every year (like Lyon in France), why watch? To see who gets second place? Thats why England, Italy and Spain have the best leagues (although Barcelona and Real Madrid are usually the ones who win, the other teams still put up a good fight to the top teams).

France, Argentina, Romania and Italy among others say otherwise.[QUOTE="Panzer_Zwei"][QUOTE="martin_f"][QUOTE="Pablo_Aimar"]England has the highest percentage of foriegners in its league than the over big leagues in Europe (Spain, Italy, Germany & France). I don't know about Italy's. It's not like the top 3 teams doesn't always win either. The Spanish and England leagues are the top leagues when it comes to competition.
But more importantly, Italy's league is the most boring one to watch. Apart from the same 3 or 4 showcase teams, the rest are just worthless to watch. I'd rather watch the French league or even the German league (where a single team usually always reign supreme too) than the Italian one, it's just's boring.

As far as I know of the serie A current standsings, it's the same 3 teams again, with just AC Milan not doing that good in a few games, but that doesn't mean it wont end up on the top as usual. You would think Juventus wouldn't be as hard after just coming up from the second division and all the people that left, but they're at top 3 again, which justs shows the real competition of the league.
Apart from the mentioned showcase teams, the rest of Italian teams, follow their catenaccio as a rule more than the norm.

Lol rugby is mostly fat out of shape men or little twerps that hardly get smashed or hurt like you do in American football, do yourself a favor and actually watch American football(the real deal)cause it's not like one fat guy pulling down another in Rugby.
In American football people get seriously hurt and not just a sore butt like Rugby players.

Well Fiorentina and Juventus are 2 teams recently who have been chucked out of the top division. Others got deducted points and going back a little further most of the italian big sides have been in a financial mess.Lol rugby is mostly fat out of shape men or little twerps that hardly get smashed or hurt like you do in American football, do yourself a favor and actually watch American football(the real deal)cause it's not like one fat guy pulling down another in Rugby. In American football people get seriously hurt and not just a sore butt like Rugby players.

Ha you've never played rugby have you?
One thing everyone forgets is that rugby players are a completely different breed to American Football players. American Football players wouldn't last 10 minutes on a rugby pitch (especially as forwards) as there are minimal breaks and constant action. No breaks between plays, no timeouts, no substitutions, no offense/defense. Can you imagine the OL running at game speed for a full 2minutes? Half of them get exhausted running 20 yards!
