[QUOTE="Max_Settings"]Lol rugby is mostly fat out of shape men or little twerps that hardly get smashed or hurt like you do in American football, do yourself a favor and actually watch American football(the real deal)cause it's not like one fat guy pulling down another in Rugby.

In American football people get seriously hurt and not just a sore butt like Rugby players.

blue_hazy_basic

Ha you've never played rugby have you?

One thing everyone forgets is that rugby players are a completely different breed to American Football players. American Football players wouldn't last 10 minutes on a rugby pitch (especially as forwards) as there are minimal breaks and constant action. No breaks between plays, no timeouts, no substitutions, no offense/defense. Can you imagine the OL running at game speed for a full 2minutes? Half of them get exhausted running 20 yards!

You keep thinking that. American football players are big masses of muscle. I would put Brain Urlacher up against any Rugby player.

England has always lacked in talent. This isn't new, he should blame more on the foreigners coming in and taking it away from English players.

Videogames have been huge in the states for quite some time, and we still have players such Kobe, Labron, Tomlinson, Brady, Mayweather, etc.

Anyhow Brazil> World in Football since before videogames.

[QUOTE="Panzer_Zwei"][QUOTE="martin_f"][QUOTE="Pablo_Aimar"]England has the highest percentage of foriegners in its league than the over big leagues in Europe (Spain, Italy, Germany & France). We have a lack of quality home grown players.TheManOfChoice

In other words, we have the best leagues and a crap national side.

The "best" league is debatable. As the Spanish league has IMO the best players.

When someone mentions "The best league", they are not stating it based on how good the players are in that league, they are basing it on how competitive the league is. If you know which team is going to win the championship every year (like Lyon in France), why watch? To see who gets second place? Thats why England, Italy and Spain have the best leagues (although Barcelona and Real Madrid are usually the ones who win, the other teams still put up a good fight to the top teams).

The best league is the success of the teams in none-domestic competitions. Now it's the EPL, in the 90s it was the Spanish League and in the 80s it was the Bundesliga.

I love how this quickly devolved into the argument of "talent...what talent?" While I agree the England team is typically crap and the Premiership is full of stars from other nations, there are a million reasons why England lags in developing its football talent. I don't think the Xbox is a big reason. Some of the big arguments are pushing fitness and positioning over skill development early on, pushing academies that chew up and spit out kids over more spread out development, and having a restrictive system for allowing in foreign players that results in over pricing English players thereby encouraging the opposite result of teams bringing in even more foreign players because they are cheaper. But this is a video game forum. Lets just say that video games are fun and I read all the time about how top English players play them anyway.

No. That reflects more the teams themselves than their league. If the Bayren Munchen wins something for example, it won't make the Bundesliga any more competitive, same thing if Lyon would go to win something. Anybody would be a fool to believe that their leagues have teams of their same strength going on in them.

And how exactly is now the EPL? They won the Champions League in 1999 and 2005, I would hardly call that an EPL domination. It was in the 70's and early 80's when the English teams were the most successful in non-domestic competitions.

American Football is a tough sport.I'm not denying that. But Americans are so arrogant and dismissive of other sports that they don't play.Rugby players are tough also, that guy Ali williams got ran into and had his jaw broken by a 280lbs monster and got straight backup.

Rudgy is more of a how can I say it, mindless mashing sport.

Where football is more of a thinking mans sport.

Sort of the difference between Boxing and Mixed Martial Arts.

Both are tough, phsyically demanding sports that not one person here should call a wussy. Both require strategy and thought.

One leans more to the thought process and one leans more to the smashing process.

I'm a thinker, so personally I prefer football more. And would much rather play a civilized game of football to just running around smashing each other in rugby.

You people do realize that comparing hits from American Footbal and Rugby is a moot point simply because it's two completely different styles of hitting people right? If rugby players hit like AF players, they would just kill each other, and if AF players hit like Rugby players there would be more yards per game due to missed tackles, completed passes, etc....
