Umm...yeah, it kinda is. That is how buisness works. If I make something for $100 that has online for free. And you do the same but with no online. Who do you think is gonna sell? And who do you think will add online for free eventually.

Yup. Sony is shoving the competition down Microsofts throat in the Online Arena. Currently XBOX Live has the best reputation for an online service. Then why in the world would Sony pressure them into making it free? That's like shooting themselves in the foot.

Why don't you go glorify VF5 some more :) You can't deny that paying for online play sucks. I'd still do it for XBOX Live, but it does suck. With the service I'm receiving, I'm more than happy to pay for it. Especially since I got my years XBL for £9.99 more than the standard price with: Vision Camera Robotron & Uno 200 MP Points Headset

XBL may cost money but that cost is well worth it for the organization. If XBL was free it would do more than compete with PSN, it would crush it. Believe me, I'm not biased. I own both and love them both but that's the truth.

Not because I can't afford it, but because I don't want to pay it, not when it's free everywhere else. We already pay for our connection to the internet, we don't need tacked on fees just to use our connection do we?

Key Wii, you're wrong and have no clue about XBL. IMO, you get what you pay for. The live servers are much better dependable servers. For example, I hate playing EA games on their servers because they are always having problems such as lag, disconnects, unavailable, etc. XBL, for me, is great. It's a good service that is constantly being updated, and overall it is of very high quality. I also think that the PSN is pretty good for as new as it is, but there is a definite difference between using Sony's (for 1st aprty games) and other company's (3rd party games) servers. If XBL is made free, and the quality suffers for it, I will be very irritated. I'd rather pay $50 a year for a quality online experience.

And as for brainwashing, all this guy seems to do is persuade people to buy a PS£ since he feels left out.
You'd think with the size of the Live user base and the amount of DLC going over Live (most of which you have to pay some amount for) that MS could make this service free.
The large user base would be enticing to advertisers. Make it so we have to view a short commercial before every download or when we first log on - I'd be fine with that. Also, have some of the costs to run Live absorbed into the DLC instead of making something 400 MS points, make it 425 points. That way, if you want the DLC, you are probably willing to pay 425 if you were willing to pay 400.
Should this service be free? Yes. In the mean time, do I mind paying $4.16 a month to have the service? Not now.

Paying for online is just dumb. You buy the game for $60, then MS wants you to pay an extra $50 so you could play online, then you have to pay another $30 for your ISP. Now that's too much.
I don't think this will be true, but if it does. I applaud Microsoft for doing the right thing. That also pressures Sony into making their service better amd faster. In the end, I'm all for it.... If MS does it.
Well, what I read from the article is that MS is considering having Live be free for PC users only, not for console users. I hope I read it wrong and that they will make Live free for all, but that is how I read it.
I hope to god it doesn't go free, if that happens there goes the whole XBL community as if some parts of it were no bad enough. If they do this they should have it where stupid people don't make 20 F*&$%^&$ accounts like on other online networks, plus you got all these people that well take XBL for granted and ack even more like a ass.
F free online you want the best you got to pay and should act somewhat respectable.
I think if they were to reduce it to 20-25 $ per year and offer new people 6 months free it would do a lot to entice some people. Double that just kills any price advantage.

LoL!You say that as if Sony's online is a threat :roll:.They state that Live could be free because of Live Anywhere being on PC,and theres currently alot of competition on PC.Read the articles.
Am I reading the articles wrong because what I am getting is that Microsoft is seriously considering making Xbox live free for PC users, not 360 users. I think we all figured that might happen so what is the uproar about?
This is a topic for cows, they know if XBL goes free then it well drop in quality and then PSN well have a slim chance to catch up to XBL's level of quality.
