Not sure, I don't really notice the cost & I'm not exactly well off either. Once every year, a few months before it expires I'll just put a bit aside & then I won't have to 'worry' about it for another year.

I love the sense of entitlement some people have regarding this. "I already paid for the game! It should be free! What a rip off!"
I just bought a new TV! I already paid for it! I should get free cable! What a rip off!

You're either joking or you've been genetically engineered to be Microsoft's best customer.
No, I simply understand what a premium is.
Be anrgy all you want about having to have a gold account to play online, it's a moot point. Even if online play was free I would be willing to bet most current gold subscribers would STILL have a gold account, myself included. Why? Because any person who has had a gold account for any length of time will tell you thats only part of it. Heck if I take advantage of the gold exclusive weekly deals even once a month you at least make up the difference that it costs to have a gold account.
Simply put: If you want a better experience, you're gonna have to pay for it. That's just a fact of life.
The only real gripe I have with XBLA is that they need to take a long look at Steam. Because charging full retail price for downloadable games is absurd.
Also to all the people holding up the "PS3 is free" banner. I wouldn't get comfortable with it. I would also bet money on the idea that next console Sony will have a subscription model very much like M$ does.

that's why psn is just as good as xbl and is free? And that's also why steam is the best service and is free?
And I hope you're joking if you think most people would continue paying for the gold service if online play was free.

Steam is not the best compared to PSN and XBL
question can I play Bad Company 2 without Steam?
can I play Arma 2 without Steam?
can I play Mass effect 1 and 2 without Steam....what about MW2? or BF2?
I can go on, but the point is Steam is not the same service as PSN and XBL
Steam goes down, so what the servers will still be online, and people would still be able to play on them

Then I have to question why every person I've ever known who owns both and PS3 and 360 says XBLA with a gold account is hands down superior overall.

Cause thats just your friends and family. I know people who say live is a rip off and isint worth it.
WRONG. Doesn't every 360 come with a free month of gold? I also got a free month with GTAIV. Tried it, wouldn't pay a dime for it. This is why I used the word probably.[QUOTE="EndlessPunisher"]I believe TC said xbox live users... all the 0.00$ responses shows you probably haven't tried it. Therefore you're in the wrong topic.Bigboi500
i wudnt pay $0.01 for xbox live, which is why my 360 is collecting dust. i'll take my pc and ps3's free online thank you.
not sure, but right now I don't mind paying the $60 a year, and I can still get it for $50 a year at Costco so things haven't really changed too muchlamprey263I seen it at Costcos for that price one day. About 2 weeks later I went there to buy it and it was gone. They seem to only have certain things sometimes, so you can't really depend on them.
A milli-a milli-a millli-a millli-a milli-a mill:P
I guess the $60 it's at now....but I'll worry about that toward the end of 2012 when my Gold expires.
[QUOTE="Brownesque"][QUOTE="kindredmachine"]
I only use the PS3 for movies and single player games like FFXIII cause the online is so slow and terrible.
WilliamRLBaker
That's false.
actually its pretty true. The ps3 is incredibly slow compared to the PC and 360 when it comes to downloading updates and firmware..etc As far as online gaming p2p on pc and 360 is superior. Dedicated server preformance is the same though. That's what I thought until I swtiched providers. It is indeed false.
I think I'm fine (but not happy lol) with the $40 price it goes for on Amazon. Anything else would be too high for me.
Yeah, I'm not going to try and justify the price, but 1 year XBL subs are frequently available on Amazon for $40 (tax free if you don't live in Cali). I just ordered one and when I use it it will take me to Nov 2012.
