His biggest problem was that VR software wasn't exactly mature yet. I can see that point slightly. A lot of games are proof concept/demos. EVE: Valkyrie and RIGs are two full fledged solid ass games though, and are very addictive.
@dynamitecop said the very headset that you own (PSVR) is garbage and inadequate for a good VR experience. Reprojection would never work (even though Oculus and Valve just announced their own - similar - form of ASW/ATW recently to lower minimum specs). He said trashy mid-ranged console VR will also never work compared to high-end PC VR, and anything less than high-end will destroy public perception and the technology's future. He has made it clear he hates your PSVR in every conceivable way.
Also, he claims to have bought a Vive and sold it right away (which makes me doubt his story). So his other thing is "VR isn't ready and won't be for years." So now he's badmouthing Vive/Oculus, when he was using them as shining examples just a few weeks earlier. How fast can a person change their minds, and why so often? What's with his fickleness? Oh, there's more.......
Now that MS announced VR headsets as low as $299, he says it's an absolutely smart and perfect time, because it gets MS' foot in the door and lets developers learn the ways of VR. Bad, horrible, stupid timing for Sony, Oculus/Samsung, Google and Valve to release one now ("not ready for the consumer market! nothing to play!!"), but perfect and smart timing for Microsoft.
You don't really need to defend him. I know why he says these things, and why so many of his comments don't fit together. He's an obnoxious fanboy with jaundiced vision.
No wonder why he gave me an A+ for pointing this out. He's screaming for help.
But to return to topic, VR is awesome, and now is the perfect time to release it. VR games will continue to develop and get more full-bodied from here, and hardware will soon get eye/hand tracking added, as well as foveated rendering. More developers, more new ideas and ways to play, and more people to enjoy it. To me, this is a very exciting time for VR.
