I'm waiting on the bundles being released later this month 8/23 however I'm still thinking my decision thoroughly. Anyone picking one up today? Please share your experience with it :)

Gamespot just reviewed it, they called it a "Must Buy" if your in the market for a 4k bluray player.
Basically an essential purchase if you need 4k media in your life...since the ps4 is obsolete it only can handle 1080p which is really ugh i just hate it, it can't do anything yuck.

Hooked up my Slim and all is great so far... console looks fantastic and feels very sturdy. After I updated it, it automatically switched to 4k resolution and movies look great. Even games seem to be a little more crisp, I'm assuming due to 4k upscaling. Overall very happy.
It looks good, but I'm not getting one. I'll just wait on the Scorpio.
Really? I thought you was done with MS consoles? With Windows 10 now, I really don't need to game on my Xbox One anymore.
I could, I have a laptop that could most games at 1080p 60fps. However, I can't help but buy the new console. I looking forward to Scalebound and the Sea games is starting to look interesting to me. Most people I know never turn on there X1.
@SecretPolice: Check out this quote from the Gamespot review....ROFL:
"Unfortunately, we don’t yet have a 4K/HDR TV in the office just yet, though we do plan to get one soon. I’ll update this review here once we get it in."
@flyincloud1116: Sounds legit. I just can't get myself excited to even upgrade my current-gen consoles.
HAHA! You will, just give it time. I will say this though, MS needs to show some games. I may not get it until I see something worth getting it for.
@SecretPolice: niiiice! That helped clear my head a bit about resolution and upscale. Awesome I'm in!
I said in the other Xbox One S thread that I'm definitely getting it, but I'll probably get it next week on my birthday since I have that week off from work.
It looks great but I already have an Xbox One so I'll wait for the true upgrade which is the Scorpio, I'll pass on the slim.

I've seen 12 year olds on youtube reviewing 4k tv's what kind small operation is this website i noticed ign too said they don't have them have they seen youtubers those people got like 1080's 980 ti 4k's what are they doing this is a business right?
@ProtossRushX: Lol IGN too? Maybe they just have 4K monitors since that is where 4K gaming is mostly? I mean if this was a website that covered food recipes I could understand if they didn't have a 4K TV in the office. But it's a web site that covers games and movies, PC and console....just was odd to read that, I would think they have several 4K TVs in the office....limited budget, or another reason. At least hold off your review of a 4K device if you don't have a 4K TV yet
@Alucard_Prime:
A thought occurred to me, haven't a clue why, yeah sure. lol
What's the chances of them reviewing without a 4k TV if this was Neo? :P
@SecretPolice: I'd rather not go there honestly, I'll just chalk it up to limited budget and incompetence for now.
Nothing against the Gamespot crew, not their fault...but their bosses are cheap if they couldn't authorize a 4K TV purchase.
I was getting ready to purchase one, then I read that the day one update takes almost 25% of the 2TB space... what a ripoff. Maybe someone can convince me otherwise
Wanted to trade in my OG bone for one, but I lack a 4K tv.. And the Scorpio is a year and a few months away.
Could trade in my PSBore, been collecting dust for over a year since no real exclusives exist except for uncharted/shitty indies.
Holding my breath for last of us 2 tho

Yeah because that makes sense, the day one update will consume the entire HDD capacity on the 500gb model...
Where did you hear this dumb shit?
@dynamitecop: I dont know anything about the size of the Day 1 update, but I remember reading earlier the OS reserved space is 400GB, so available for you to use for games is 1.6TB. He might be referring to that.

I also wanted to add that when I too pick up my Xbox One (CoD: Advanced Warfare model) that came with 1TB, there was a Day 1 update and I can't remember the actual size but I only had like 400GB because of the day 1 and this has been the norm now, day one updates. I can tell you now, if you plan to go fully digital, a 1TB isn't gonna cut it.

I don't believe that, I have the 1tb version aswell and it had over 900gb free.

Right from this website's review of the console:
http://www.gamespot.com/articles/xbox-one-s-review/1100-6442284/
"While 2TB of space should be more than enough for most people, I wanted to see how much free space the console would have after immediately installing its various updates out of the box. I saw that it had 1.6TB of usable space, which means the OS and its updates essentially takes up a whopping 400GB of storage, which is pretty crazy."
If you wanna see it yourself it's under the "Specs" headline, underneath the picture where they show the back of the console
I need some advice... I'm planning on not getting Scorpio- atleast for a long time. Probably never if new games they release at that point work on Xbox One.
One of the main reasons this has my interest is the much larger internal HD space. I also like the spec improvements and the look of the console much better.
Should I keep my original black model Xbox One and buy a 2TB external HD for ~ $100.
Or should I trade the old Xbox One in and use a giftcard to get this new model and spend ~$200?

2tb drives are 1.86GB formatted anyway so that's where a good chunk of it goes. 250GB does seem a lot for OS and stuff though.

When I got my 2TB external USB 3.0 HDD, it was more like 1.8TB after formatting it and totally clean, combined with my external/internal HDD capacity it was like 2.2TB clean. I've nothing on my internal except everything I can't have on my external, no games or apps. Right now that's at 355 GB free for the 500GB model.
What one really needs just really depends on their play-style. Me, I play all major multiplats and Xbox One exclusives, and a bunch of the downloadable indie games. And I'm an all digital gamer. For me, I needed a 2TB external. It helps too to not use the internal to keep the OS running smooth, when I used the internal for everything it kind of chugged a lot at times when it was close to full but using external definitely helped tremendously.
If you're just going to wait for the 1TB Xbox One S then I recommend just getting the 500GB XB1S and picking up a Western Digital 2TB USB 3.0 external HDD $80-$90. I use to hear people complain about Seagate reliability but I haven't in a long while, they offer up to 4TB in a nice portable HDD size external for about $120. I prefer my external HDDs to be simple and just require a USB 3.0 cord, it's nice that way, 5400 externals only for that. I'm fine with that, it runs just as well as the internal HDD will (some argue it's already quicker). I don't think there's any huge performance advantage to using a 7200 external source, plus if you get an external like that it's going to need it's own power source. I'm pretty sure they've done test showing there's no real significant advantage in doing this to warrant the costs or the inconvenience of getting a 7200 external.
Otherwise I'd probably just splurge the extra $50 get yourself the 2TB internal if you're okay with that. And, if you're going to be a digital gamer, a strong internet connection is a must. Lots of people complain about the need to download this and that, the inconvenience seems in large part because of their ISP and their plans and bandwidth limits, potentially their home network setup. Make sure you're solid there.

Now, what to read next? I know! maybe some digital camera reviews by blind people!
Yeah, it's some funny shit. I mean, at least they're honest, but still. 4k TVs don't cost shit. I went out to pick up a new 1080p set earlier this year and ended up leaving with a 55" 4k Samsung instead because it was so cheap. You'd figure this would be pocket change for an actual business lol.
Reminds me of when websites try to review PC games on POS PCs.

I was going to say that 4K stuff is expensive, but looking on Newegg tells me that is not at all true.
I can get a 4K monitor with Hdmi input for $300. :S

I don't think all 4K TVs have HDR. They probably have an older set but yeah since this is their business you'd think they'd go out and buy the newest equipment to do the proper reviews.
Picking mine up Friday because MS recently outfitted the rec room on the US Army base in HI with new HDTVs and X1s over the holidays, free. So I'll support those who support mine, shout out to Sgt Taggart HOOAH!!
Thank you MS, and God bless the United States

You would think from them knowing about the Xbox One S and HDR gaming, that they would have a 4k TV (HDR compatible) ready for a review.

You're an idiot if you think all HDDs don't lose anything.
A 2TB HDD usually has 1.8... So at most its 200GB being used
1024MB in 1GB, not 1000.
The Xbox One S is the 4k console 8th gen leader. Awwwwwwwwwww Yeahhhhhhhhhhaah!
Only in our very special lem heads :)
