Most Xbox gamers already rely on using LIVE and the first thing they do is sign into Xbox LIVE. So really the 24 check in deal is not going to be that big of an issue.

When you buy a game digitally you can't rent, trade, loan or sell the game you bought. So in reality people have already been supporting DRM with the PS3 and Xbox 360.

As far as the Kinect goes you can disable it completely if you want to.

Xbox has some of the best exclusives in gaming and 3rd party support

Xbox LIVE is the best online gaming service for consoles

The price tag while it is more expensive than the PS4 the price is about right with the Kinect included.

So all in all the Xbox One really doesn't deserve all the hate that it's getting. While I understand why some people would be upset with the way that Microsoft is handling used games just look at digital games you can't even trade those in! So my prediction is that it will do just fine after people realize that they are just blowing shi** out of proportion on the Xbox One. What it's really going to come down to is GAMES and the Xbox One has plenty to go up against the PS4.

Probally more than you think. I don't have numbers to throw out at you. But with games now going to be available day one digitally the sales on digital are just going to go up.

I wouldn't be to quick to assume that. The market is way different than when the 7th gen launched. Social media and the fact that your average consumer is more well informed on average is going to make people aware of these differences.

People aren't going to ignore the fact that the thing is launching $100 over its competition.

Microsoft doesn't have a head start this time and their competition isn't fumbling the ball at every chance they get. They got last gen handed to them thanks to Sony being ridiculous at the beginning and Nintendo breaking off into a new market. Now they are the ones everybody is looking too and they are just failing.

How is the Wii U doing? Oh, right. Everyone knows how underpowered it is due to word of mouth...-GeordiLaForge-

I think that has a lot to do with the fact that the Wii U has only a tiny handful of games that are worth playing. Even avid Nintendo fans have been holding off due to the tiny library.

Decided to Google it, and found this: http://www.gamespot.com/features/the-digital-revolution-how-consumers-are-driving-the-future-of-games-retail-6396713/

Physical sales are down and digital are up. It seems like digital will replace physical one day, but not for a while.

Avid Nintendo fan here, and that's exactly my reason. I don't really care that the Wii-U is underpowered. My reaon for holding out, like Wasdie said, is that it does not currently have enough games to really warrant a purchase by my standards. That and I have plenty of games of this gen left to play, and see no reason to buy a new console.

Anyways it wasn't the only reason, but it's a major factor. The PS3 ended up catching the 360 in worldwide sales and I believe it has even surpassed.

Microsoft isn't helping their cause either. Their 1st party is pretty weak. This is by design. They don't want to put the R&D in for new games, they want their platform to emulate their business strategy they have for Windows where they only provide the platform and the 3rd party provides the software.

This doesn't work well when you don't own the market.

From my earlier post. It will create a new higher class of gaming for a new gen of hardcore gamers. Not everyone will be able to enjoy this level of gaming, but not everyone gets to drive a Ferrari either. This will sort out the couch full of greasy monkeys playing Madden on a PS4 from the more sophisitcated gamer.

That depends on your definition of fine.

1. it is the most expensive next gen console

2. It needs an internet conection and many places in the USA don't even have internet in their area

3. Sony is sure to get the word out on the used games/2nd hand games

4. The ps4 is stronger and I am sure that will be put out

Clearly the spybox1 has a uphill battle much like the ps3 had and it will affect their market share. If I am Sony I will be only too happy to point all this out in the marketing leading up to the launch date. The how to share used games video from e3 is just the tip of the iceberg.

Not sure on other consoles but Sony said 60% of games are purchased online on the Vita and I suspect this will be the same for Xbox / playstation in a few years.

Not only that but there are still millions of people in America, UK and Europe without internet or with crappy internet so that shrinks their market even more. Then there are all the people in those countries who won't support the Xbones game policy. M$ is selling to an incredibly small group of people.

I agree yet I dont agree with you Wasdie. MS is incredible at marketing and has the money to fuel a bombardment of ads to hype it up if they do choose to do so. And yes, we are a more informed public now due to the rise of social media but, to non-core gamers they are gonna just stick to what they know and by name which is Xbox. Its the same thing for apple really. People buy apple products just cause of the name.

I'm sure it'll do fine and be great gaming console while fully experiencing it's (k)inected functionality and all it has to offer, but the fact still remains that not everyone has the internet and all the millions who purchase used games for there entertainment - who Microsoft could care less about - may not want to go through all the trouble and end up gaming on Sony platforms.

I'm sure the experience will be just as great, but they won't sell nearly the amount of console's Sony will end up having when it's all said and done which in turn might be difficult for them to lock up 3rd party content; such as, Sony in the future.

We will all have to wait and see.

If you have *no* internet whatsoever you're clearly in dire poverty and wouldn't be buying a $500 games console with a $5 a month subscription fee anyway.

I think he means they aren't going anywhere and XBox One will still sell millions. I believe that will be true in the long run. Will they beat the PS4? Probably not. With a higher price, they won't be as successful

This doesn't work well when you don't own the market.

MS has secured exclusives and that matters to me. They have entertainment features, the NFL deal and motion and voice control. These things, when marketed properly and shown and most importantly placed in peoples hands will sell systems. MS hasn't been losing money in their gaming division for the last 5 years like Sony has, so someone, no matter what you think, knows what they are doing. MS has six months to decide on if they want to change some things or not, as well as to market the unholy hell out of the Xbox One to their key demographic, and they will. Sony is a company doing bad, with a gaming division hemorrhaging money and yet the last couple of days you suddenly think due to internet fury that this perception and image of both companies, products, and services won't change at all? Especially when the systems are actually put out there for people to try out for themselves. The online gaming forums are the vocal minority compared to the normal gaming consumer they doesn't visit websites. Judging by IGN and this site id say the PS3 was millions ahead and MS was bankrupt, lol. But in reality 6 months is a long damn time to launch, and a company as globally powerful as MS should not be underestimated. I just think the Xbox One offers so much more than the PS4 in a number of ways.

Then there are all the people in those countries who won't support the Xbones game policy. M$ is selling to an incredibly small group of people.

If you have *no* internet whatsoever you're clearly in dire poverty and wouldn't be buying a $500 games console with a $5 a month subscription fee anyway.

I wouldn't go so far to say there poor, but some gamers such as myself could careless about multiplayer. I can't remember the last time I played a multiplayer game to be honest... the fact still remains you can't play a single game UNLESS you have some sort of access to the internet.

I hope that it flops, hard.

There are too many Halo, CoD, Madden, Forza fans and- hell, I'll say it -idiots for that to happen. I hope Sony continue to get the better of them resulting in a major, major rethink for the Xbox brand.

Just taking uk for a moment. 2011 77% of households have Internet and in 2012 80% have. I think that's a pretty large group of people and its growing all the time. Move forward a few years and 90%+ will have Internet. The quality also improving dramatically with BT fibre and 4g.

I don't, as I like a lot of the exclusives it has. Also, competition is good for the industry.

I don't want Microsoft to have the financial incentives to continue their draconian business practices. Wouldn't mind if Xbox One turned out to be such a failure on the market that Microsoft would have no choice but change their ways.

Not true if you live out in the country or in a small town chances are you won't have internet. ISP's are not going to spend money to serve a small number of people.

I have never come across a town in my life with literally no internet. Just hasn't happened. I've said it in other threads; i've been in dirt-poor 3rd world countries and they still had internet. I slept in a tree-house hostel in a forest and it still had wi-fi. I'm perfectly fine with the people saying they don't give a **** about multiplayer games and only play single player. Xbone will obviously alienate you. But the people saying 'what about everyone with no internet' just make me laugh. Until I actually see someone who *has* no internet, but that's yet to happen.

I keep seeing the "only people online are complaining" argument but you're really downplaying how much bad press Microsoft has gotten. This isn't just a video game forum thing, the bad rep has spread like wildfire on facebook and twitter. People gave the PS3 a similar reaction 7 years ago. But hey, what does the internet know?

The casual audience are not the ones who go out in droves to pick up consoles on lauch, let alone ones that are selling for $500.
