Gears was fun. This is why Xbox gamers have bad taste and their exclusives don't sell. If you thought this was a bad Xbox game, then what did you think was a fun one?

Yeah I can't wait to see the reaction to butthurt Cows like Quack and the rest when MS shows off Forza Horizon 4, Halo 6, Ori , etc running on the Xbox One X.

Nope. The PS4 is already starting to show its weakness. GOW has frame-rate problems because it's maxing the system out, so unless TLOU2 is a launch game on the PS5 I don't think so.

A quick note on US console sales in March

It's unsurprising that Hardware sales volume in the US was down 30% YoY and software sales was down 18% due to a harsh comparison against March 17 when the Switch was released.

The relative sales volumes of game hardware was:

PS4: 1.15

Switch: 1

XBox One: 0.97

3DS: 0.43

YoY

PS4: -9%

Switch: -66%

XBox One: +24%

3DS: +19%

It's not new, to be frank. MS began to be very opaque about many of their divisions when they consolidated them into 3 large umbrellas, the one covering Xbox being "More Personal Computing." The individual contributions of each product category are obscured and one can only speculate (and scrutinize), but presumably the division houses all of MS' other hardware products (such as Surface and PC accessories), along with their patent royalties revenue and Windows OEM licensing (!).

Prior to the consolidation, Entertainment and Devices Division was raking in $9.5 billion in revenue but only $364 million in profit. For a company the size of MS, that level of contribution is peanuts and when they're missing out on emerging markets (such as smartphones), you should be concerned and question what it is that the Xbox division does for MS as a whole. It helps explain why MS Studios is now publishing all future titles on W10 as well as Xbox; the gaming division had a long leash previously, particularly under Ballmer, but I imagine the board is restless about what Xbox actually offers MS and whether they're better served putting their money elsewhere (you don't have to look far for additional data - mobile is vastly outpacing consoles and the PC community is far more willing to continue to consume content for up to 5+ years with occasional content updates).

There would have been less shame in permanently dropping the price of the console a couple of times. But they keep yoyoing the price EVERY month. MS is so afraid of expressing failure with this console when Xbox is absolutely peanuts compared to the rest of the company. I've never seen anything like this in gaming in all my years of being alive. This is really bizarre behavior on the part of Microsoft.

Did you play the multiplayer? Dodge ball in Gears was tons of fun. It's just the campaign that's trash.

Price cuts are good for the customer. This doesn't mean they are doing it to force sales higher, this means they are getting better prices on manufacturing in large quantities. Sony should be doing cuts like this too.

If Xbox didn't have these constant price drops, they'd be pulling up way in the rear this gen. They don't want to do a permanent price cut yet, because that's a gambit that may not pay off in the long term, which may not matter since they've devalued the brand to a degree. Everything they're doing is all about optics right now. But they undercut that by these constant back and forth drops. They're pulling a "red light, green light" on when to buy their console.

I can't recommend an Xbox One, but I enjoy mine.

You should see the Mid April global sales, it's funny. If it wasn't for patriotic Americans, Xbox would of been scrapped already, it's a dead platform.
