Xbox Showcases Will Now Have PlayStation And Nintendo Logos

@R4gn4r0k: Just because Microsoft has become a publisher and their consoles don’t sell as much as the competition. But they forget that Sega wasn’t Microsoft, they didn’t have billions and their last console (Dreamcast) sold less than 10 m units. Xbox one sold 58m units while series X/S sold 30-35m.

Microsoft wants to expand on every screen. How could Killing their console benefit them?

dude, YOU made this entire conversation about physical games.. physical vs digital is all you've been talking about.. as far as Phil Spencer, you're the one that's obsessed with him; not me or anyone else.. every post you make mentions "Phil"..

under his leadership, Xbox has made some good and bad decisions (just like every business).. i can name some bad ones: Trying to raise the price of Xbox Live, no custom consoles for big game releases, Red Fall, shutting down Tango Gameworks, too many interviews, a terrible marketing department, the list goes on..

that said, the Xbox business has objectively never been in a better place over the last 10 years in terms of active users, gaming studios, and revenue.. y'know, literally all the key metrics for a successful gaming business.. beyond that, Xbox has new console hardware on the way and, for the first time ever, is making an Xbox handheld.. "Xbox" isn't going anywhere.. for actual fans of Xbox, there's little to complain about..

but ultimately, as I stated in the beginning of this back-and-forth, console warriors are the only group that's upset with Phil because their primary concern is who's selling more plastic boxes.. and that's fine.. if you view this hobby through the lens of console wars, PlayStation won and Xbox lost.. most "lems" have accepted that reality and moved on..

and, as i stated, if you're "the last lem standing" in that regard, go buy a PS5 so that you can feel better about owning the most popular toy.. or don't.. but Xbox is a multiplatform gaming business and has been so for almost 10 years now.. it is what it is.. get over it and make your decisions accordingly..

Xbox is a console, selling a MS game on Steam, PS5 etc, is not good for Xbox, in fact Xbox sales have slumped down some 30% year oln year because of Phils actions.

horizon and days gone most new ps5 owners would not touch a ps4 game. sony knows to bring it to ps5 to keep these 2 games fresh for new ps5 owners. im sure sony will sell more copies of horizon or days gone ps5 versions over ps4 versions. making more money = bunch of idiots?

Xbox is a gaming brand and a gaming business.. that gaming business includes proprietary hardware (ie consoles) that also carry that brand name..

Many of these half-gen recap remake/ remasters have also sold poorly to boot. An argument could be made for a very small majority but that's when the line is drawn. Graphic whores in 2025 are a dying-slim vocal minority. More than not it confuses the larger demographic.

People buy old games all the time. Grand Theft Auto V, Minecraft, Roblox, & Skyrim chart often worldwide. One of these games released in 2009.

The reason Sony did all these remakes is because former head Jim Ryan hated old games, and has stated so himself many times. I fear we're still seeing his leftover projects that no one but him thought was a good idea.

& this is why PlayStation has been on a decline for quality software. If it wasn't for Astro Bot 2024 would have been a very pathetic and depressing year for PlayStation (and still kinda was)

Microsoft doesn't care about you buying an Xbox anymore dude... They've already basically stated as much. Theyre playing a strategy where if their games show up on everything then they won't need to spend the dough on developing new generational strategies to sell an unprofitable piece of hardware.... yes but how many of those grand theft auto, minecraft, skyrim had remasters during those times? you think someone would buy ps3 version of grand theft auto or would they buy ps5 version? even with just astrobot ps5 still had a great year with steller blade, and all the other third party exclusives. xbox had nothing all year until the very end of 2024.

I like having ps5 versions of these games with the 10 bucks price. loading is fast and looks much better than ps4 versions. just like pc gamers after upgrading there gpu's just to make there current games look better with raytracing and lighting.

yes sony is going through a reboot because of jim ryan. but at least there cleaning house to get the new games we want. 2024 for sony had steller blade, ff rebith, hell divers2, and silent hill 2 and more. might be pathetic for first party but don't forget xbox series x had a pathetic first what 3 years. with just wait 2020 is xbox year, no wait 2021 wil be xbox year and so on. on top of great 2024 psvr2 games as well with metro and aliens and behemoth.

even with poor sales horizon remaster still sold more than the ps4 version.

A lot of this identity gaming is mental illness... When we talk about Sega vs Nintendo there is a real system wars discussion to be had... In modern times we argue about who is better when in fact they are both sharing 98 percent the same games.... And the other 2 percent find their way on to the competitors console down the road.

Much of the reason folks like myself are saying "let us play all the games" is because we recognize the unnecessary hardware walls shutting out a very small percentage of games from being exposed to bigger player bases. No one is unhappy with their Xbox or their Playstation. They're all doing the same things.

@TheEroica: There will always be some type of exclusive deal happening when there is big business. Also there is no time to play all the games, even all the good ones. That's just FOMO thinking. Even when there were far less games like in the SNES days, people were happy with what they had even if they couldn't play everything. This isn't a free update either. Sure you get 'a discount' if you own the PS4 version. However it's overall being sold at a higher cost than the original (Skyrim PS4 to PS5 update is free) on a platform that can still play the prior version. Which as we see from the comparison is very questionable. Again.. who asked for this??

I'm all for preserving games, ports, remasters, and making clever choices to bring back games. I even love a lot of remakes. This isn't one of them. It's Sony being ****ing stupid, wasting development teams and funding. These graphical overhauls of recent games for the most part don't sell either. Day's Gone PS5 edition isn't exciting in the slightest.

You know what did sell, generally exciting, and charted recently? The Soul Reaver Collection.

A PlayStation One, 32-bit graphics game (and its sequel) that hasn't been very accessible for decades_

PlayStation has an amazing back-catalog of games.. and for a few recent examples they've chosen for massive graphical overhauls: The Last of Us, Day's Gone, Until Dawn, Horizon, and the paper boy simulator itself Death Stranding.. More-so crazy that The Last of Us was already overhauled and released on PS4. Yet felt the need to redo it again.. some would even argue looking worse..

It's just so stupid..

Apparently a God of War Collection for PS5 is just not worth it when they can just completely (and unnecessarily) re-texture barely five year old games, adding in features most developers offer with a free update. Then; insult to injury call it a new release.

Love Stellar Blade but it's not first party or ever was. Helldivers II was also a disaster with how Sony handled it's post launch restrictions, making it actually unplayable to many people who bought and played the game on launch week (even now they can't play HDII)

Enjoy my PlayStation 5 and overall it gets a lot of use. Astro Bot was one of the smoothest and enjoyable Platinums I've had in years. Sony Computer Entertainment overall though is really pissing me off, and feel for many they're not delivering the goods we know they could provide with proper leadership.

yes im mad at sony for trying to push the live service games. but I do enjoy my upgrades for 10 bucks. I have 4 tb in my ps5 and trying to get all the ps5 versions of these games.

horizon looks way better than the ps4 version. it was redone in there hfw2 engine.

with days gone it maxed out the ps4 making it very buggy and could tell they cut corners to make it run properly. so updating it for ps5 specs makes sense.

to me these games was held back with the ps4 cpu and hard drive.

but I do agree with you that sony should not be in the state they are in. lets make all of our studios work on fortnite like games was so dumb.

all im saying is I enjoy these remasters and feel 10 bucks is fear. except last of us 1 for not having the 10 buck upgrade. that was milking the crap out of that game. even if they re did the whole game.

My complaint is it's a terrible alternative to what we could be gotten for the same budget-use and resources. & seems we both at least agree on that front, it's painfully frustrating.

BluePoint could dish out upscaled ports all day of any game we love from the past that Sony published. They've done in the past, and I believe five in one year too (Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, Metal Gear Solid 2, 3, & Peacewalker) one of these games took a lot of work to be reworked for a home console.

Instead of bringing back more classic and beloved games PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 owners can't play and enjoy for themselves.. we get the third version of Day's Gone (Day's Gone did receive a massive PS5 update years ago based on the High-end P.C. release version) which we already have access to. so here we go again with Day's ****ing Gone. . .

Maybe I'm just not seeing the love for the title Day's Gone.

Little Big Planet 2, MotorStorm: Pacific Rift, Ratchet in Clank Future: A Crack in Time, Heavenly Sword, Killzone 2, Warhawk, MAG, Infamous, White Knight Chronicles... it just comes across as such a slap in the face..

*And on the otherside of the fence Microsoft works with Koei to remake Ninja Gaiden 2 in Unreal 5. With a ton of welcome changes from the Sigma version and added features from the 360 original as well. It's overall awesome, and it's cheaper to buy than Day's Gone Remaster..

The physical edition looks lovely as well. Already got the Platinum for the game and considering double dipping because I'm a sucker for a good steelbook.

it's not just you.. Sony/PlayStation didn't have enough love for Day's Gone to greenlight a sequel but you're supposed to be excited for a remaster of the game because "it's only $10"..

$10 spread out among millions of customers is just milkage.. it's easier to make yet another remake of TLOU, Horizon, or Day's Gone and charge the blind faithful another "$10" for the privilege rather than put any real effort towards remaking PS2 or PS3 games that people are actually asking for..

but as long as fanboys continue to make excuses, this is going to continue to happen.. get ready for the Horizon: Zero Dawn PS6 remaster for an additional $10.. 🙄

@Antwan3K: Keep forgetting a vocal sum want Bloodborne because personally I don't like it as much as many other From Software ARPG games. The Bloodborne Remake idea kinda has that unwarranted cult following. Also it already being a PS4 game makes it far less appealing to get the treatment. I can accept a P.C. port though, because it saves overheating our rigs with painfully unoptimized emulation.

If they did fix those horrible framerate dips (Lecture Building 2nd Floor memories) it may be worth a retread. From a console perspective a patch could and would mend that, they did it for Dark Souls III early-on when PS5 came out. They just haven't bothered to do so for Bloodborne because it's Sonys job to do something about it, and they're too busy investing money giving Aloy a beard_
