they should just stick with geow or doom like design where everything is closed in or boxed in so this way the graphics do look amazing.

Games like Lair on ps3 with 32km open field, thousands of enemies on screen seems no problem for ps3. If anyone wonders what sets these apart is the Cell cpu that makes it possible for ps3 to have better open map games.

just my 2 cents.

yeah, in open environments, i find that there's not enough attention to detail, and you really have no clue of what to do.
but I think there's a healthy meduim, like a huge linear environment might work out.
then again, i had a great time with oblivion.

Unreal Tournament will be the game that shows what these systems can do with open environments and gears style graphics.

No, I was about to drag out a five page list of MMO games. I mean there were games released in 2005 with 30X30 K.

i bought PS3 just to avoid online games that are not first person shooters like x360 is infested with. I want single player games on my console and i can care less about online for games like Lair.

ww2 online comes to mind.

Having closed in enviroments gets old though. It becomes linear and you feel like a rat. I rather have a huge open game.

The only exclusive game worth playing on the PS3 is an FPS, and cows always brag about its multiplayer.

Besides, if I wasn't writing an English essay I'm quite confident I could dig up a post of your complaining that Bioshock doesn't have multiplayer, or Gears being too short.

The first one that comes to mind is Boiling Point that came out in 2005. That wasn't quite 35X35, but close. Postal was a little bigger than that from what I remember, but thats decades old. Baulder's Gate was huge...... I know there are more out there, but by far MMOs can easily dwarf that size.

I believe daggerfall is twice the size of great britain with like 150,000 NPC's.. And that game is so many years old.

But to the TC, which is going to ignore this is or reply in a fanboyish statement, oblivion pwnts your logic.

Lack of multiplayer is understandable when you have a good single-player component, like in System Shock 2 or Bioshock. Lair, on the other hand... >_>

-_- What are you talking about? Boiling Point had relatively good graphics for 2005 when you consider the size and scale of the game and the developer.

You can't take action into the air in Crackdown, but you can take it to the top of a really tall building, and watch everything in fine detail from above. Does that count?

I mean, it isn't like the 360 has a lot of flying games here. You're making an unfair comparison.

But don't you see? Had Gears and Crackdown been on the PS3, the almighty Cell would have allowed dragons to be somehow mashed into that gameplay, clearly making them way better games.

Oh. I forgot that the 360 made it impossible for games to have dragons.

It's so hard to keep track of these things...

jesus christ, here we go again. Can you take action into the air in Geow and Oblivion and then watch everything in fine detail from above?

no.  but i have more fun playing them

I'd hope you'd have more fun playing a game that's actually out.  What game have you played that's comparable to Lair.  You don't know if it's going to be fun or not.  All I can say is Lair looks a lot more fun than Gears did when watching videos, and Gears was actually pretty fun to play for a while.
