wow either nov 08 or early 09?? what happened to all the lemmings saying just wait to the ps3 fans? by the time you get your dlc everyone would have moved on with new gamessuperjim42
I agree, which is why I don't think it'll be very expensive. So it's not bad for lemmings, just bad for R*.
If they overprice it, it will fail.
It's probably strategic as Gears comes out in November. readingfc_1
What do you mean? How is it a good thing to release the DLC at the same time as Gears?

well i have a feeling it will be priced quite high since rockstar needs to fulfil the contract made my microsoft which was more of a loan of 50million and they expect it back with returns on this DLC. but releasing this late i doubt alot of ppl will even care about it anymore
Comes out 09 fiscal year which is nov 08 -jan 09. So it is not like it is far away from when the game released.EltrozI thought fiscal years varied. Are we certain Rockstar's fiscal year starts in November?

Fiscal Years do vary, on things like the stock market it is from July to June, but some companies end their year in March, so they can finish off with strong sales from the holiday season.

Most "hardcore" gamers (I don't like that term but it conveys my point) have or are very close to beating it if they were going to already. By October, they would have most likely moved on anyway.
Most DLC is done so where the gamer has a reason to pick up and dust off a game later on down the road, and honestly, I like it that way. Gives me time to play other games, and then gives me a reason to re-play some great games that had faded in my memory a bit.

Do R* care? Didn't MS pay for it (with the 50 mil) and I presume they will be earning the vast majority of the revenue for it?[QUOTE="Eltroz"]Comes out 09 fiscal year which is nov 08 -jan 09. Yes. I read the report. It says that the second QTR of 2008 ended April 30. which makes the end of the current fiscal QTR end in July..The 4th QTR ends on Halloween. Making the first fiscal QTR of 2009 November 1st.

But waiting so long brings up a new concern: what if a gamer, tired of GTA4, decides to trade it in for something new? Since the DLC is no good without the original game...Man... consoles are becoming more like PC's by the day now. First it was hard drives for additional content, then it was installs and now it is nothing but delays so they can actually complete the games (or in this case, complete the non-free downloadable content).
What's next, upgradable video cards?
foxhound_fox
Oi, I can see it now;
"Coming out in 2013 for the XBOX 720! It's the DX10-capable video card! For only $199, you can unlock the highest settings of your games* and experience things like dynamic lighting! Simple remove all 12 screws from the bottom, pry the case open, struggle to remove the basic model GPU, and finally install the new one! Order your's today, and play the games as they were meant to be played!
*Only supported games will actually have unlockable visual upgrades, ie; only the ones made by Crytek. Ask store retailer for details."
...yeah.

They will then decide if it's good enough to warrant rebuying the game and make a decision. This is nothing new. I'm sure it happened to people who like Oblivion when Shivering Isles came out. Wait, that was ME.....
