I think an opinion can become a fact when there is enough evidence supporting the opinion to stand true. Ence this statement: "The Xbox 360 has better games as of right now than the PS3". Now that is an opinion but it also stands true as fact because of these facts that back it up. 360 has more AAA games, 360 has sold more games, 360 games have gotten a lot more great reviews than many of the PS3 games, and the 360 has sold more game consoles than the PS3. That should be enough evidence to back up. So at this point in time that statement should be considered fact. After all we are judgeing who wins by games correct?

I voted 360... as of now - no competition.

18months from now, PS3 easily -as long as the devs actually figure out how to unlock it's promised and mysterious power that Sony promises us is there.

I second that! Warhawk is more fun to play. He says Halo 3 looks great, but just isn't that fun to play.

Its not so much that you cannot have opinions, but when you portray an opinion as a fact, its just wrong.

Like I said, you don't need to say IMO, but you also need some kind of operator instead of just using blanket statements such as everyone, all, it is, etc.

Not everyone feels the 360 is the best system out. You could simply say I feel, I think, To me, etc. But to say it has the best games and is the best, as the TC did, is not stating an opinion, it is trying to make his opinion come off as a fact.

Had he said, I feel that the 360 has the best games, and is the best system out right now, that would be fine and dandy, as that is his opinion, and I cannot argue that. Saying it is the best, in the concrete terms he did is trying to take a world view in which his opinion is the only correct one and that everyone should agree with him, which is just wrong.

'I feel that' is just another way of saying imo. So basically you are saying that all statements need to come with some sort of disclaimer to point out what is entirely obvious. To me that is pointless. If he had claimed what he had said was a fact either in title or description I would have been the first to bring him up on it, as I have done in many other threads before.

He doesn't do that at all. He only claims a fact when he is actually pointing one out.

That is very true, using review scores there are more highly scored games on the 360 than the PS3. That does not, however make it true to everyone.

I would say that the 360 provides more enjoyment to me ATM than the PS3, but I would also not call people who think differently (I know there are people out there who would prefer Warhawk and Resistance to Halo 3 and Gears) than I do wrong, which is how this thread was started when the TC said "join the better side", etc.

Opinions are fine to have, and its even better when you can provide some reasoning behind having them, but when you start saying that your opinion is the only correct one, that is when I have an issue with it.

What seems to amaze me is how xfans rip on PS3 for less games than 360 has, but imagine the games that will be on PS3 in the same timeframe after its release as the 360 is in right now. casey7672

the 360 launched with 1 AAAE and 3 AAEs. the ps3 currently has 4 AAEs.

I won't further argue, but I will always have an issue when someone portrays their opinions as fact, and even moreso when they try and take up the POV that their opinion is in some ways the "correct" one.

It takes 2 seconds to make it clear you are stating an opinion, and it is very easy to do, but most people won't, assuming that they can pass it off as a fact if they hide it enough.

That the 360 has more games is a fact. That they are better games is opinion, quite possibly the majority opinion, but it does not make it a concrete thing, and someone who says otherwise is not immediately wrong, as an opinion is something that cannot really be argued.

Example:

If I created a thread saying "The PS3 is the best, its more entertaining, and offers more value, and has the best games, so you should just admit it and buy one", I am not only supplying an opinion as a fact, but I am saying that that opinion is correct, and that all others are inherently incorrect.

That is just wrong, in many ways, and on many levels.

This is what I take objection too. Most arguments are over opinions, if something is a fact you cannot argue over it, as one side need merely show the otherside they are wrong.

I was hoping to see someone bring this up. I saw all the fighting about Halo 640p but couldn't respond at the time.

But the same guys that mentioned Halo 3 being 640p also noted GTHD was approximately 500p short of true 1080p! And that game has the nerve to have HD in the title!

The fact is, as the report stated, most games ON BOTH SYSTEMS are putting their games out at 720p, a few are a bit short of that, and a couple are 1080p.

Sony was by no means cleared of anything in that report.
