Xbox360 lineup for 2009 seems great, maybe better than '08

I have low standards ? Don't make me laugh, you mean i do not have the casual gamer standards, to get hyped only for overscored games, personally i do not give a flying crap for games like MGS4, LBP, Gears 2 etc, they are overhyped craps to me, i like games like Lost Odyssey, Fable 2, Tales, IU, Last Remnant, Too Human, Mass Effect etc, those are the real AAA titles to me

I like 360 lineup because i have the highest next gen standards possible, that is, i expect huge next gen open free roaming worlds, and vast RPG's only PC and 360 can offer at this point

Can you name some games that even remotly come close to Fable 2, Alan Wake, Two Worlds Temptation, KUF2: Dominion, Venetica, Divinity 2 etc on PS3 ? And don't tell me the last gen looking, MMO like playing White Knight that looks like coming right out of PS2 era

PS3 has the lowest standard possible for its games, short last gen in gameplay and level design experiences like MGS4, LBP, Heavy Rain, GOW3, Uncharted, Killzone 2 etc all linear on rails titles with tiny small levels, only PC and 360 get the real huge next gen games and vast open worlds in 2009

Of course it is not hard to top 2008, since 360 only gets some huge expansions for its biggest games like Fallout 3, Fable 2, GTA4 giving new life to those AAA games, and on top gets a vast ammount of huge RPG's and vast worlds in RPG's, adventures and epic startegy games, definatly tops 2008 by miles, and tops any other system by miles too

i have yet to play a game on 360 that has high production values and high standards like MGSIV.... Also i stopped reading when you said you have high standards and then list Infinite Undiscovery, Last Remnant & TOO HUMAN as examples....

You also listed many Open world games out (supposedly) this year for which we (or at least) I have seen no gameplay footage which is running on 360 hardware so i wouldnt get that hyped if i were you... and as i said earlier you made a huge list (good job) but that only made me and probably others realise that having a Gaming PC wouldnt make worth getting a 360... 90% of that list is shared with other systems (mainly PC) and we know PC get the superior versions..

I have yet to play any game on PS3 that has next gen huge detailed and interesting worlds like in Fable 2 and all those upcoming 360/PC games in 2009

Also i enjoyed Fable 2, Lost Odyssey, Last Remnant etc etc vastly more than the overhyped totally last gen MGS4

MGS4 has some of the lowest production values in a game ever, first it is boring and a reharse in gameplay, offers almost nothing new, and the combat is still too akward, the gameplay is a joke really, then the constant loadings and installations, then the totally mediocre looking, small and empty looking game levels

As for the PC/360 titles, most are made with 360 in mind, so will look 99% same as on PC and some already have 360 videos i posted, not my fault you did not see them

BTW keep in mind that not everyone can afford or has a gaming PC, also not everyone likes to play on a PC desk with a keyboard and mouse and last buy not least 360 costs 199$ and gets ALL the PC games i would miss and a host of its own exclusives i would never ever miss, so with a 360 for 1/10 the PC price i get double the gaming and fun, how about that ?

Venetica. I've played a game from those dudes. Jack Keane. It wasn't very good. Just came off as a mediocre, childish Monkey Island wannabe. This is a completely different genre, so slack cut. But again. What the hell do we know about this game? Why should anyone be excited? And you who complain about MGS4's production values...

Two Worlds was of rather questionable quality...

Precursors and White Gold are from the Boiling Point people. They have grand visions, but then there's the execution bit... White Gold though, features shark-riding and is for that reason freaking awesome.

Divinity 2 sounds rather interesting though. So thanks for bringing that to my attention at least.

In fact Fable 2 alone is better than any game PS3 will ever come up with, and those WRPGs 360 gets exclusively too

All PS3 has is last gen games, MGS4 had small levels and confined boring gameplay, LBP was 2D in gameplay and simplistic, taking platforming years back, Heavy Rain is a movie on rails, Uncharted is linear and has tiny levels, God Of War 3 is linear and has tiny levels, White Knight CHronicles looks and plays like the worst MMO son PC from 5 years back, with PS2 like visuals in HD, etc etc

Alan Wake is NOT an adventure game and Thesis is a vaporware adventure game from complete newbie studio, even if it somehow manages to be out in 2009, it doesn't belong even in top20 biggest adventure games of the year.

360 as always completely and utterly fails at providing anything interesting for adventure gamers, PS3 isn't much better, but at least it has one excellent looking adventure game: Heavy Rain

Such as what? KZ2? Seriously PS3 has ALOT of unknown yet to prove themself titles as well other than the shared multiplat 360 games like SF IV, RE 5 and FF XIII. I don't see my PS3 getting much love since it really hasn't at all this gen. I prefer multiplats on 360 and I have thus far enjoyed the 360 exclusives much more than PS3's I don't see 2009 being any different. In fact I'll more than likely STILL be playing L4D online!

Actually i have a PS3, Wii and a good PC too

I do not bother with PC, because i hate the controls and do not have the time to deal with its millions of problems

I do not plan to buy anything on Wii yet, and i only have Zelda TP so far, so it is not that strange, maybe if Izuna arrives in Europe, and is good, but i doubt will arrive in Europe TBH any time soon

As for PS3, it is my 2ond best system, i will rent Killzone 2 (seems like another linear boring shooter to me, but i have to try it), i will buy Uncharted 2 for the visuals and will buy day one Heavy Rain and God of War 3, but none of those titles are in my top20

A title that could go up in my top list is Demon Soul, but i want to see some reviews on this one first, it is a buy day one too since i love the art and huge monsters

Xbox 360 of course is like gaming heaven to me with all those vast open world games like those WRPG's, Alan Wake, KUF2 and my 2ond most wanted after FF13 JRPG, Star Ocean 4

Let's just say that after playing all Sierra adventures, monkey island etc, i completly lost interest in any current adventure, and i have tried multiple times to get back to the genre, but it just does not feel right and has lost all the magic those older games had back then

Maybe i did not try enough, but fact is i started my gaming life with advetures, not RPG's and i would play somethign that revitalizes the genre, maybe Alan Wake does it properly, i will try the Vampire story too, that one looks cool, but generally the quality of adventures has taken a vast dive from what the genre was before, at least as i see it, and i find RPG's far more enjoyable

Keep in mind that my best games are Fable and Zelda though, so adventures based games are still my top priority

I still stand by the fact that adventures are only 'as good' as their predecessors because the genre has stagnated somewhat. However Pathologic, Penumbra, The Experiment, Tension, have taken one of the most awesome turns I've seen in adventure gaming recently. What the other poster is saying is that the 'magic' of the previous adventure titles felt fresh, invigorating and quite decent. But it's been a long time and we've all done the same puzzles over and over again, so much so they have become really obscure and just downright stupid at times (Next Life, I'm looking at you). The 'magic' he wants to experience will be found in these new and engaging titles. And finally, my dream has come true: a truly non-linear adventure from none other than Quantic Dream themselves :D. It's like they stole my ideas written on the computer and put it in action. If that turns out well, expect the adventure genre to flourish like never before.

As for RPGs, I'm not sure. The Witcher is magnificent, Too Human is a great action-RPG, and I think Oblivion gets way too much hate than it deserves. Then again, I play Oblivion with mods which makes it actually more enjoyable than Morrowind, and I am a complete Elder Scrolls fan. I would agree that some like Mass Effect are kinda sucky though, and it's not looking too hot with Dragon Age either. But that's just Bioware.

With comparing wRPGs to adventure games I though this way: adventure doesn't get enough innovation (similiar to jRPGs), it becamed stagnant, but at the very least it didn't regress, which I feel aside from few exceptions wRPGs generally did

Speaking about 2008 RPGs though indies delivered this year with Hinterland and Mount and Blade, but low-budget and neither realized their full potential, but the potential there is huge and it's nice to see potential, it makes me hopeful for the future.

And God...I hope they won't screw up Tension english version, the writting is great there, even the polish version (despite few techical hick-ups) is beautifuly translated and voice acted. Pathologic suffered a lot because of weak english translation, I hope Tension won't end up the same

Still, I'd much rather a big budget RPG which takes us back to the grand days of PC RPGs. I guess Neverwinter Nights 2 was a pretty great romp through oldschool DnD. And despite my dislike for Dragon Age, if it doesn't follow way of Mass Effect, we could get a really decent spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate.FrozenLiquid

I recommend getting interested in Drakensang, it's not huge budget RPG like Mass Effect, but it's very nice graphicaly and it really plays like BaldursGate in 3D, with the additional bonus of cool Arkania setting. I really was surprised how nice it was.

It was a very good Q4 for European PCgamers, King's Bounty in Oct, Tension in November and Drakensang in december :)

Hey, where's The Outsider? If it comes out, that will surely be the biggest title of them all, even as a multiplatform one. It's being made by David Braben's game developer Frontier Developments, who have worked on the Elite games, Thrillville, Dog's Life, and other open-world games. This next game should show all of the other game developers how a game's story can be driven, scriptless and without any cut scenes at all, with non-linearity thrown into the picture (going beyond good and evil paths). If anything, this will be the most innovative title of this console generation. Here is a taste of some screenshots of the game, along with a link to a trailer of it.
